As requested, here's my Tal'Dorei Campaign Guide Comparison video. This was interesting to make as we're literally comparing 2 books that are essentially the same, just made 5 years apart. There are a significant amount of differences though and I like that it's written in a time period of 20 years post campaign 1.

The Fast Drinker feat was changed to a campaign rule they added in the DM section of the book. The feat that allowed concentration on 2 spells became the key feature of the Moon Cleric.

Got mine earlier this week! It’s wonderful, and the character options are largely reasonable. Major updates to the previous versions of the subclasses, can’t wait to see a detailed video showing how they differ from the original version

@@Nildread wish I knew. I didn’t get into CR until after the original version was unavailable. I have heard there’s some things that were changed from the original, but all I can testify to are the current iteration things.

@@Nildread my advice- get it. I may not have the original, but the new one is an updated version, with more to-date lore, info on what Vox Machina is up to, the subclasses and feats were all redone and are actually really good now, and the monsters are interesting. It even has the stat block for the Caedogeist from C2. As an example, Trinket now has a public park named after him

I would love to see a video covering the new subclasses college of Tragedy, blood cleric, circle of the blighted, Moon cleric, Hemocraft Wizard and possibly where you think they fit in the current meta. College of Tragedy Bard is in my opinion balanced and looks super fun to play. Unfortunately I don't think path of the juggernaut, cobalt soul, rune child, and oath of open Sea have changed enough. In fact balance wise rune child and cobalt soul are underwhelming as rune child isn't decent until high level and cobalt soul is super MAD worse than blood Hunter class. The new feats and alternate rules would be fun to cover.

Rune child can't even use its 1st level feature until level 2! I'm surprised they didn't fix that...

@Hunter not one sorc subclass is locked out of their 1st level feature until you reach level 2 tho. The only rune child build that can work from get to is v.human/custom heritage with metamagic adept which isn't the best design.

Rune Child is completely dependant on sorcery points, which are not readily available at low levels. Unless your DM allows you to select a magic item like Bloodwell Vial to regain sorcery points early on, your not going to have access to your class abilities. I plan on making one just to see how it plays, because I have a feeling it's a lot like playing a 4 elements monk. You have all your normal class features, which are way superior to your subclass features because the mechanical cost of those powers is too high. Thematic aspects aside, it's definitely under underpowered and unreliable.

@@jaredeschweiler3505 on the plus side, the runes activate whenever you spend SP (on metamagic or otherwise) and up until level 6 you have no use for them other than the aegis so they aren't competing for resources with anything else and get them passively as you use your core class features.

An odd change they made to the Titanstone Knuckles is that they no longer would work for grog the same way as they used to. To enlarge, you now have to cast Enlarge/Reduce (enlarge only) so now Grog wouldn't be able to rage before enlarging (to be able to cast) and not rage later because it's a concentration spell/

a comparison of the monsters and classes/ new stuff could be cool. But I'd also like to know how much of the campaign setting, city, location stuff is different because that's harder to see. if it's largely the same, I'd have to weigh buying the book purely based on the added and updated monsters, player options and magic items which is like only half the book, if.

holy crap i think earth board is my new fav magic item. I totally want to use sovereign glue and combine a broom of flying on top of the earth board then have it coated in mithral. then finally become the silver surfer. omg if i was a plasmoid i could make it look like it melded into the board or i could use meld into stone while in jelly form and still be able to move the board and travel for 8 hours and set up super sneak attacks

How did you feel about the art as you were flipping through the book? even the background art in the pages? Did they look pretty? (I was listening to the vid without watching so for anyone who might have trouble seeing, descriptions help alot).

Damn, my favorite thing is just the quality of life aspects of the actual book. The index, index of artists, ribbon bookmark, the map pouch. All of that is just awesome.

Hey Ted. It would be alot of work, and perhaps you could break it up into parts. Alphabetised or by subtype. But I think it would be great to see comparisons of the new stat blocks in MotM vs. Their counterparts. You could also just go over the major monsters if that would be preferred.

Technically, the new wording on Spelldriver puts a cap that didn't previously exist when it comes to using Action Surge to cast more than one standard action spell.

one campign podcast i listen to did away with revivify and resurection requires the EXCEDINGLY rare item Phoenix down (rare because as far as anyone is aware there was only one phoenix and The Church either captured or killed it centuries ago) makes gettign any especially hard to do (last time they had to break into a church to get some and not every church keeps some on hand)

As other said subclass review and comparison. Funnily enough the most busted subclasses mercer ever released are official (chrono and echo knight). While in Reborn most subclasses are still balanced to a degree and are still very flavorful.

Super disappointed Critical Role refused to or didn't try to publish through Wizards of the Coast this time. As unofficial content, it won't be able to be played at nearly as many tables, nor will as many people be aware of the book or purchase it.

Pros for Critical Role: They get the bulk of the money. Cons for Critical Role: They lack the distribution channels WotC has or the economy of scale that come with large print runs. So, yep, relatively speaking, this book will not sell as much or be as accessible as Wildemount.
