Cruelty free & vegan aren't enough anymore, as we become more informed to be mindful of the ingredients too.

Vegan means we are the lab animals. Rice powder has arsenic. And talc to arsenic to cancer- natural. In this corruption the labels and ingredients list are pure trash. Sad reality. We consumers outnumber a few. The psychology behind money has to improve that's been the issue in this supply chain. The companies slap greenwashing labels knowing average consumer doesn't have access to labs to test these products or trace their supply chain. There is no oversight on makeup look at the Johnson & Johnson company that knew their talc powder had asbestos (also natural) profit was more important that is narcissistic abuse in our current formula. Ingredient list isn't enough either is my point.

It's so scary isn't it? I feel a lot better using talc free products and when I'm not reviewing products, I use almost 100% talc free. It's not worth the risk for me.

I just watched the HBO docuseries, Not So Pretty (highly recommend), and I’m getting rid of everything I have that contains talc…just not worth the risk of possible asbestos contamination. I am researching the ingredients in all my makeup and unfortunately the Melt Cosmetics Gemini palette does contain some talc. FYI talc and asbestos are minerals that naturally grow together so talc is very often contaminated with asbestos.

Yes I've seen some very scary documentaries about talc also, plus Claire's being in the news over the last few years selling makeup with asbestos has really made me wary about using talc at all. Some is probably safe but you just don't know!

Thanks for the educational video Jen! I learned a few things and was pleasantly surprised to find out that ABH, Sydney Grace & Lorac Unzipped eyeshadow palettes are talc-free. Yay!! I think talc is a filler ingredient that isn’t necessary and I prefer to use talc-free if given the choice.

Menagerie Cosmetics has talc free and Terra Moon is too. I think you would like the Killer Purr pallet from Menagerie. Terra Moon are single shadows that range from $5-$8 along with some super special multichromes that are $17.

It's not the talc by itself but it can sometimes contain asbestos, so that's the part people are worried about.

I think you would love the Honest highlighter. It is a very natural, "lit from within" one. I have dry skin and it doesn't leave me with textured looking cheeks either.

Thank you so much for doing this video. I cannot use talc products on my face at all. It causes cystic type acne on me, which took forever to correlate back to talc. Once I removed all talc products from my routine, my face cleared right up and is never been an issue again. I believe you can add Honeybee Gardens and Root Pretty to this talc-free company list as well. I bought a Pacifica eyeshadow palette last year and it was so horrible that I returned it. The Honest palette is very nice. It was pigmented and lasted really well all day. My Walgreens has Honest in store. I have the Melt, She’s in Parties palette and really enjoy it, the colors can be softly applied or built up.

Hi Jen! Thank you very much for this video. I’m so pleased that Bare Minerals is talc-free! Any idea as to whether K-beauty as a whole uses talc? I do believe that many of the companies that dupe eyeshadow palettes use talc. Awareness is crucial because asbestos is such a lethal substance. Thank you again Jen! Not a video, but Alima Pure, Essence 16h powder foundation, Doll10, Belle Beauty, Genie Beauty, Plain Jane, 100% Pure, Inika, Demúre, W3ll People, Maia’s Mineral Galaxy, and several more (like from the brands Jen mentioned!) are all talc-free. Pretty much all liquids are as well.

I love Pacifica I'm in the shade 39 but I could also rock 40 on certain days. Tiger's eye is my favorite Neutral palette from them it gots some gold in it which is really pretty along with the Gemstone one yes I do admit it you need to tap off some of the products on the eyeshadows, but it is worth it.

I recently found affordable brands called Taste Beauty, Pretty Smart and Hard Candy that are Talc Free. And the new Profusion Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Eyeshadow Palette is really nice too.

I highly recommend MakeupGeek! If you are just wanting to test the formula with a few colors, they do have some quads at Target and Target often has a promotion with a $5 gift card with $20 makeup purchase, making the cost effectively ~$10 for 4 pans (down from $15) if you can find another $5 item to hit the $20 minimum. Just be forewarned that Target doesn't pack carefully so the foiled shadows tend to crumble in shipping.

Also wanted to add - MakeupGeek started as kind of a MAC dupe brand, but I have some of each and my MakeupGeek dupes are smoother, less dusty, and more pigmented than the MAC comparable!

I don’t k ow if anybody already said that, but German indie brand Lethal cosmetics is Talc Free. They use moça instead, but it said to be ethically sourced. They don’t have talk in their eyebrows and highlighters.

It depends...I don't really like Milani's new eyeshadow formula but I do like The Balm and Lorac etc. so with many of them I don't really notice a difference between talc and no talc. 😊

To add some more: Benefit blushes and highlights are talc-free, it seems a lot of the Believe Beauty stuff is, Tarte has a few things that are, Sigma, the Essence 16h powder foundation.

I'm very conscious about my makeup now that I'm older and have awakened since I'm vegan. Not only do I want talc free products but also dozens of chemicals that I can't even pronounce. When u think about it, you wear makeup all day, hours and hours, sometimes almost till night time...it has a chance to seep into your body, cells etc... what does it do to you in the long run?

If you own the KVD Lolita palette, you pretty much have a dupe for She's in Parties. It is all matte though.

Unfortunately a lot of the products recommended aren’t talc free, just ingredients listed as magnesium silicate which is talc / or Mica which is also very similar to talc but not sure if it’s safer.

So, silly question, what does the talc do? Why would one look for talc free products? I’m so unaware. Hahaha!

Talc is in the ground very close to asbestos which can cause health issues/cancers, and the asbestos can be intermingled with the talc. There's a huge lawsuit going on right now because of women using talc baby powder for feminine hygiene and over the years it gave them ovarian cancer. In makeup, if asbestos gets breathed in, it can cause mesothelioma (incurable lung cancer). Now this isn't to say that all makeup containing talc is contaminated with asbestos...brands are supposed to test their talc. But there is no government oversight so no one is holding the brands accountable. Recently Claire's makeup here in the US was contaminated, as well as Beauty Glazed palettes and some City Color products from the articles I've read (I've linked some above). 😊

Can you recommend a bronzer that is cool toned that is talc free? I watched your other video and you recommended milani Silky matte bronzer. And I loved the one you recommended, but its honestly terrifying to think I inhale talc because they add scent to it to make it smell good… its almost as if they want you to inhale the asbestos 😳😳

Can you please recommend a bronzer that is cool toned and talc free? I used your other recommendation of the Milani Silky Matte bronzer but I am throwing away all my talc makeup because I don’t want asbestos in my life

The Flower Beauty Heatwave bronzer in Sunrise is my favorite cool-toned bronzer and it's talc-free! It's a baked formula so it starts as a cream and they bake it until it becomes a powder. It's a stunning color and great formula too!

Yes they are talc free but nobody did check the other ingredients? for example: There is Teflon (PTFE) in the Makeup Geek's and in The Balm's eyeshadows as well.... You all shall read carefully that list of ingredients!!!

I was just focused on talking about talc free for this video for those who prefer not to use it due to potential asbestos exposure.
