My mom called one day and asked if I had heard of Chocolate Meyers. She assumed he was famous. I said I did and she told me he moved in their neighborhood. Got to meet him. Gave my wife and I a tour of his house and showed us all of the memorabilia from back in the day including Winston Cup trophies. Very nice man. Bigger fan now.

Having these older Nascar people on to relive the high and low points , and me being old enough to remember many of highs and lows is great.

About a year ago a buddy and I were lucky enough to get a tour of the museum from Danny Lawerence and Mike Dillion. It was a privilege and an honor to experience the museum from legends at RCR and NASCAR as a whole. Going to the museum is like traveling back in time 30-50 years ago. If anyone wants to visit the museum I would recommend getting a tour from the people at RCR. The items in the museum are amazing but nothing will ever beat the experience of listening to stories from the people that lived it. Thank you for coming on the show Chocolate and Kurt.

This is the best show ever and you guys have done a lot of great shows. I’m 54 years old wishing I could have been in one of those pit crews in the 80s and 90s.

Episodes like this are why I tune in every week. Telling these stories will make sure the legacy of Dale Sr and the whole team will live on.

Even to this day, when you do the podcast videos of stories about your dad, at 44 years old I still get choked up. What you and your dad have done for not only NASCAR but for the fans(including myself) is indescribable. For myself and my family when your dad passed it was the most heart-wrenching moment of our lives but, you grab the bull by the horns and made that heartache a little less harmful. Thank you DJ for everything you have done for my family and the fans all over the world.

My heart is full and I am enjoying this episode so much. I love hearing the stories and memories of the races that are being discussed. These guys are so special to me 🏁😎🏁

This is a really special episode for those of us who around as fans back in the day. It was very much like a family reunion with we fans as extended family. The great thing about a family reminiscing its history together is the opportunity for those who once feuded with one another to laugh at the experiences both good and bad they shared in the past. Some of us were definitely not Earnhardt or RCR fans back in the day. Far from it but we are all NASCAR family and there is a special magic in looking back and remembering those times. With time we have all come to acknowledge and admire how special that 3 car, its driver and its crew actually were.

I was at the Winston where the pass in the grass happened. I was a Elliott fan. Dale won that race because Bill thought he was going to wreck when Dale got all 4 wheels back on the track. The difference between Dale and Elliott or Bodine was his naked desire to win. No one wanted to win more than Dale Sr.That was his super power

I Loved the Flying Aces...Greatest Time in Nascar...3 for Life...

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, we ranched, and my dad had semi trucks, that's all I know, I'm 58 this year, what strikes me, is the similarities between the two, hard, tough, never give up attitude, not to mention, whether your working on a race car, or a tractor, or a big truck, it's all the same, except, the fame of racing, it brings me back to growing up with these men, the world War two guys, they had a different philosophy on life, so all that being said listening to the story's, not just this show, but so many of your previous shows, it ties together, the ability to overcome, to win, the memory's made are something else, what makes this show so good to me anyway, is I could be sitting at the hoof and horn in Kremmling Co, in 1977, and here the same attitude towards life.... I love it, Dale, thank you.... My dad had a mechanic that worked for him, back in the late 70s, he left to go work in Nascar, I think around the yearly 80s, and I think he worked for Richard, his name is John libinsburger

Man I think I needed to hear this episode with Chocolate I myself got diagnosed with blood cancer last year and every once in a while it is hard not to get down. It is refreshing hearing of other people’s cancer journey. I was surprised at how many people even younger have cancer. I love all of the old Dale stories one of Dales crew chiefs years ago was my neighbor and had the privilege of meeting him and hearing stories that I have even heard on the podcast. The Earnhardts are legends and Sr is definitely my hero

I was at the spring race in Bristol 1987. Wrangler won that race. Richard Petty run 2nd. Rusty led a lot of laps. Been a Earnhardt fan all my life I cried the day he lost his life. Attendance that day was 35,000. I live in Edmonton,Ky. Dale Jr in my mind you took his place I’ve followed you since the first race you run in the Busch series. Your Friend, Ronnie Miller.

Growing up in Charlotte and as a racing fan, I love the stories and history that Dale Jr is saving and cherishing. Dale Sr was a year older than me and I've watched him from his earliest days on dirt right to his NASCAR success. The "Flying Aces" were a true family that built a legendary team. This was a GREAT episode as told by three really great racing guys. I hope Choc can totally win his health battle !

I'm a Hospice Nurse and just so wonderful to hear those positive stories of bearing, holding off, stopping and slowing down cancer so people can live each day with a thankful heart.

I am listening to Dale Jr and I am remembering as he is talking about these moments. Never thought during these moments ± what was Junior thinking? Nobody on the planet was more impacted by the goings on than Jr. His perspective is always my favorite We all thought Dale had super human-like qualities. Can one truly grasp all the things? As big as Dale is. There's no way that he could've lived up to it! Dale Jr you are so tough on yourself,! You have earned your own place out of the shadows of Dale! Your own rightful spot! You are just as great! All the heroic images you have not only attained- you have done some of it better. To sort through all the ,"stuff" ( we cant imagine ) and turn out as you have .... shew, you be proud! I don't know of anyone that could do it, You're truly remarkable! Danny God bless you. I have been a fan of yous as well the entire team. I met you back in 1994 after the NASCAR banquet at the PRI show. To say the least you were a little under the weather. I would love just sit down and listen to you. Your knowledge of history and life is great. I hope you get it in a book someday. That was great, have you ever thought about having a big screen movie projector with the flying Aces together and talk about things that happen at that point of the race, like fan reactions, other crews' reaction or can't believe what you saw. Like an old football film session?

Chocolate is a hero and is so right. I had stage 4 rectal cancer ( 6 years remission ) and not one day that i think negatively. Its all about staying positive. This is the card you're dealt now lets do what you need to do to fight it. Stay positive keep a smile on your face and never let the disease beat you and win. And now i live my life to the fullest and with so much appreciation for every day i have here on earth.

👍🤠 Listening to Chocolate brought back memories. I had stage 4 lymphoma also, I stayed positive and beat it with chemo and radiation. Sense then have had 2 more separate cancers. Same aditude . Always said that my Wife and daughter had it harder than I did.

Danny Lawrence said the exact same thing about how the cars where definitely not cheated up. If anything they were heavier. That was definitely the COOLEST ERA of nascar,& you guys where unstoppable.JR, two guys I would love to see on your program would be David Smith,& Danny. Junior this was definitely one of my favorites. I'm so glad you brought Kirk and Chocolate on together. It really brought back so many memories for me being a dedicated Earnhardt fan forever. The Flying Aces were definitely the best. I would love to have one of those t-shirts!!! I 100% agree with them, you have done so much for this sport, your mom and dad would be so proud of you, watching you grow up on the racetrack I am so proud of you!!!! Chocolate will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers. His attitude and positivity is absolutely awesome!!!!

Kirk and Chocolate, I do hope you’ll read this. I was at the Winston in 87 and 88. I saw Dale Earnhardt demonstrate just how much he believed in all of you, his team. When that right front tire went down and he hit that wall it pushed the entire wheel, spindle and tire back into the firewall. I got a great look at it as he passed where I was sitting. The entrance to pit road. I could SEE the headers where they were attached to the engine. The red frame and roll bars were as plane as day. It was bad. But as Chocolate said “we were prepared”! He went WAY passed his pits and they were running behind him as he did. No brakes! Brake line was broke off. They caught him and pushed him back into their pits and they only had about 7 minutes left in the 10 minute break. These guys we’ve just heard from here in this podcast had zip tied an entire front end of their car onto a 4x8 sheet of peg board. By the time that clock ran out they were letting that car down off of the jackstands. All the other teams had pushed their car and driver to their starting positions. Earnhardt drove theirs to their outside of the front row starting position. Dale believed SO MUCH in these guys that when the green came out he beat everyone to the first turn and drove it like he knew he could. His team had worked on it. He knew they’d do their job. When I saw that my first thought was he really believes in his guys. That was the absolute proof! As far as the 87 version of that race, he came back onto the track right in front of me after that excursion into the grass. It looked to me like he was expecting a huge crash into to wall because I think he was trying to pulverize the 9 as he shot back onto the pavement. Then his car kinda weaved side to side. He was surprised I think. And the weave was so he could find bill in his mirror. It was on then. I remember seeing decals flying off of both cars I guess as he ran bill up the banking in 3 &4. He scared him to death. And I think bills flat tire was from bodines car slapping that tire and wheel in the first turn on that first lap wreck that let dale get the lead. Richmond and labonte got in front of him on the next restart. After that was over, there were people out in the parking lots fighting. It stirred up some “stuff”! But he believed in you guys. It was crystal clear in 1988 at the winston
