I’m a very casual cosplayer. I’ve only gone as Disney princesses and the Evil Queen from Disney’s “Snow White”: outfits that require knowing how to sew and not necessarily how to craft. My biggest “crafting” accomplishment was figuring out how to make my huge Evil Queen collar stand up. But I LOVE seeing other people’s creations and telling them what a great job they’ve done and seeing them just embody their character so well! That’s why cons are one of my favorite times of year! 😊😊
@wanderingdreams
@wanderingdreams Год назад
It's so funny to hear people say "but I didn't know how to sew...." for their first cosplay stories since I remember that just like, not even coming up in my mind for my first cosplays lol. Granted I had taken some sewing classes 5 years earlier and my mom knew how to sew/let me use her sewing machine, but "of course I'll sew this, that's what a pattern is for, of course I'll buy a wig, my hair isn't pink" was definitely my line of thinking as a 17 year old back in 2008 lol.

Now, I'm not a cosplayer, but I can't help but wonder if it's common to have that many fire incidents while making clothes from characters who don't exist

Ive never gone to a cosplay con, but I did cosplay as Marx (Kirby Super Star) for a Ren fair/fantasy fair once. The outfit was originally a home Halloween costume, but since I loved the character so much and he is a jester, I found that this was another opportunity. I was happy that i got recognized by several people. I remember that someone said "I don't know if this is the character your going as, but I like your Marx cosplay!"

Absolutely cosplay your streaming avatar, you can claim it's for work :D It looks really cool! If you can find a smaller event to attend, I don't think it would harm to not be in work-mode the whole time. You need time to actually have fun, to enjoy yourself. This is why some people actually bring friends with them who agree to take over the stall for a while. You both get the chance to have a look yourself, and well, if you bring with you a costume (or even just an outfit?) you can change into, you might actually be able to go around incognito ^^

I've been on and off cosplaying since 2012 I think? I'm 22 now and have about 7 cosplays under my belt? First one was entirely homemade. I dressed as a human Derpy Hooves. I wore all Grey clothes, had naturally light blonde hair, and made the Cutie mark + ears out of felt. Very cute. Horrible quality but wow it felt good. Second was when I was 14. Super niche but I cosplayed Cywren Castor from Venturiantale's series A Fallout Tale, where he played Fallout 3 and roleplayed. This one was more complex. I bought an adult sized blue jumpsuit which my Nana resized for me. I hotglued on the yellow details. I wear glasses so when I picked out my new glasses, I chose the kind Cywren wore. Most complicated however, I dyed my hair a red auburn and had my Nana cut it in the specific way Cywren's hair was styled. It looked GREAT. Third was my first internet bought cosplay. Early 2016 I went to Salt Lake City Comicon. My first and only big convention. I bought a Haise Sasaki from Tokyo Ghoul outfit and won my a bet with my dad to make him buy the wig. I also chose matching glasses that year. My first and only wig cosplay. This next cosplay I wore to several conventions. I believe I debuted the look in 2017? I dressed as Caesar Zeppeli from JJBA part 2. I was blonde again by that point so I just dressed as a longer haired version of him. I had every piece of the cosplay in my wardrobe already as his is pretty simple. I taped together his bandana from some ribbon and feathers, put on some makeup and I was done. 2022 was the year the local anime convention returned and I wanted to introduce my little siblings(6 and 9 at the time) to cosplay. So we went as a group! We each dressed as the human version of a character from Bugsnax. I was Wiggle, and the kids were Filbo and Beffica. These outfits were super easy. I just wore a dress I already had, ordered a feather boa, curled my hair, and sprayed it with orange/yellow hairspray. Similar method for the kids. They Both had a great time. This year, for the first day of that same con, we did another group cosplay. This time as Megakaryocyte and the Plateletes from Cells at Work. I just bought all the pieces from local shops since the outfits are simple. I used a baby doll I already had at home. My most recent however is my favorite. Last week I cosplayed as the 98'version of Vash the Stampede from Trigun. It was perfect timing. I had just gotten into the series, the reboot meant there was lots of hype. The interesting thing here was that my cosplay was more of a combination of the 98 and 23 designs. I ordered a cheap but great quality version of the coat online(it came the day before I was supposed to attend as Vash lol), had an airsoft pistol from the Cywren cosplay, and ordered prescription sunglasses that matched his 98 look. I even bought new boots. But my hair? I got it professionally cut and then last minute dyed by my Nana. The 23 version was much easier so my hair is still bright yellow to this day. And because I like making things harder for myself, I hand crafted Vash's 23 prosthetic arm out of Eva foam. I love the cosplay so much. I hope to take it to pride this year.
@EmeraldCrafts130

You seem to be a pretty busy bee. I too have considered trying out cosplay several times, but I've never come even close to getting around to doing so, because the amount of time and work you have to invest into mastering a new craft (and the potentiel stress it may cause) just scares me off. While I admittedly still have some way to go in that regard, your ability to work on so many projects at once is something I've really grown to admire about you. If there's anything I've learned from watching your videos, it's that you can do pretty much anything you want as long as you really put your mind to it, be it cosplaying, GM-ing your own D&D-game or of course making your own webcomic. You really are an inspiration😄. Oh, and the cosplays you showed all look amazing, by the way. I would never be able to tell the bad ones apart from the good ones, because I hardly know anything about the craft (yet), but I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into them. If you ever plan on getting into the hobby again, I would love to watch a new video about it😃.
@wholesomeherocomicsandarta6586
My favorite so far was a Snake Eyes costume. I made bits of armor and a sword out of Eva foam and velcroed the armor onto a long sleeved black shirt. It took a few months I think, working on it off and on after work. I'm really proud of how it turned out and though I didn't get recognized as much as I thought I would, it was still a blast and a half.

Just got back into cosplay after the whole covid thing, and I made my first hand made one! Others were either bought, closet cosplay or made by others for an idol group I was in. First ever cosplay was Chiaki from Danganronpa (in 2016 or 2017, I forgot lol), and the most recent cosplay was Fuuta from Milgram (finished a little over a week ago XD). Took 2 weeks of trial and error, con crunching and the classic concoction of blood, sweat and tears. Many late nights and yelling at the thread or my own mistakes, but I am so proud of it. One thing I learnt is to probably not sear your edges with fire when you used very flameable glue haha. My fingers survived don't worry. People came up for photos and said it was good, I was so proud! Planning many others, and I hope to improve my skill and hopefully not forget to do the one thing multiple times lol.

i've kinda had a passive interest in cosplay ever since i got into anime back in middle school, but i started taking it more seriously around when covid restrictions started to lessen and in person events could happen again ! i had done a few cosplays before that here and there ???? none of them were really super serious (only one wasn't for either halloween or purim), but they were fun and looking back probably helped a lot in making me interested in actually cosplaying ^^ especially since the first character i ever dressed up as (ichigo from tokyo mew mew) is currently at the top of my to cosplay list fgsdjfg i'm just way way way too new to sewing to confidently make it myself at the moment :') i have a few work in progress ones i'm working on (two kagamine rin cosplays and a chainsaw man power cosplay to get the hang of sewing), and i've been having a lot of fun so far !! granted each time i dealt w cosplay crunch wo the satisfaction of actually . wearing the cosplay i made . but i'm still learning and at least in power's case i already owned the important pieces i needed or was able to find them in person easily enough so it wasn't all that bad ( ^^)b but as far as memories go, the first cosplay i ever wore to a con was a klee genshin impact cosplay i bought from a taobao store. it was the first time i was ever going to a con actually, and when i found out about their cosplay masquerade i signed up for it ! having been involved in theatre since middle school, i planned to read the first birthday letter she sends to the player character as a monologue. i even made sure to time it to her theme since it kinda matched the dialogue it was really fun talking to everyone participating during the rehearsal, and i still remember another performer asking me if i was interested in va work after seeing my practice run. genuinely it was So So Sweet fkjsdhf by the time the masquerade was happening i was a bit nervous ???? bc while i had been in shows before and ive had individual lines before that point i think that was the first time i had ever been on a stage in front of a crowd on my own. so i was kinda nervous ! kinda a little shaky ! but when i gestured for the person in charge of tech to start my backing track i immediately got such a warm response from the members of the crowd who saw me ?????? it didn't ease my nerves exactly but it made me a little less anxious. i went in for fun not really expecting to win so it kinda really surprised me when i placed third !! especially since they made it clear that craftsmanship was a deciding factor in scores and i just bought mine i haven't really been in another masquerade since (i have ideas for other performances though), but klee is still a go to cosplay of mine for cons that are within driving distance. i even got recognized for it once by someone which was kinda super surreal !! but also really really cool fdjksh otherwise, i also had a really fun time cosplaying power for a group about a month ago w some of my friends ! i wasn't able to finish making her cosplay myself (i still have the fabric just kinda . sitting waiting to be used), but i made sure to plan in advance for it even if it meant i had to get rid of her jacket and scythe. looking back it was probably for the best too fhsdkf it was hot and humid and we weren't staying in the hotel the con was based at i wasn't even really sure if i was gonna cosplay on the first day or if i was gonna wear a jfashion outfit since it wasn't our planned group day ??? but morning of i decided to go w the cosplay and i'm So Glad i did looking back. two one of my friends and i ended up going to a little gameshow panel ??? and they had a little anime dances segment. i thought it would be for iconic anime dances from the early 2000s and 2010s??????? things like the lucky star dance and hare hare yukai. maybe even luka luka night fever if they wanted to bring vocaloid into it so i raised my hand and dragged my friend who was cosplaying denji up w me ! it wasn't that ?????? the oldest thing they had was smth from nichijou and apart from maybe the chika dance i didn't recognize anything. but it was fine since by the time we got to the last dance every group up was tied for points. the gameshow host asked us if we liked memes for the last one and i immediately thought it'd be the persona specialist dance ????? it wasn't but it was fine since it was a dance my friend actually knew and practiced. he won us the round and two plushies (a flareon and gray dog) which are relevant for the rest of the story i promise fhksdfh despite chainsaw man being as popular as it is the con didn't have a cosplay meetup for it ????? which was fine but it was a little strange seeing as they had some meets for some series that i'm interested in but have only ever seen mentioned in super specific art communities. i was literally the only one in the group who even knew one of them existed. i guess some other csm cosplayers thought the same thing, and two of them decided to host their own unofficial meetup that first day! my friend (the one cosplaying denji) and i did not know about it until while we were literally on our way out to regroup and get dinner. a different power cosplayer asked us if we were going to the meetup ???? w only a picture of the convention center for a reference of where to go ??????? but we said yeah sure why not and let the rest of our group know before going it ended up being really fun !! the hosts were really lively and welcoming of everyone who came in, and they were also really open to ideas for photos to take (and also made sure to be careful of spoilers for anyone who might not have read the manga). they also let us take pictures w the plushies my friend and i won earlier that day as bootleg companions fjshdf the flareon became pochi as a pochita stand in, and the dog became eowy (pronounced yaoi) as a meowy stand in since at least as far as colors went they matched ( ^^)b it's a bit of a shame that it wasn't the day of our full group cosplay ?? but it was still fun cosplaying as the main trio for the series and we even had a photographer walking around ask for our picture :D idk who i'll cosplay next ??? maybe i'll finally get around to finishing my rin cosplays or maybe i'll be silly and goofy and put everything on my list off to work on a cosplay for klee's new skin. or maybe my next one will be another group cosplay whenever i start talking about con plans w my friends again! regardless i'm really looking forward to it ^^ also all of your cosplays are So So So Cool !!! genuinely they're smth to look up to as someone currently learning to sew. i'm taking notes on how you made some of them too fshkf like i'll be sure to stay away from using food or other perishable for any pieces but going forward i'll also keep in mind that you can actually weather fabric and use markers to dye things (even if you have to be careful with how and where you do it). if you ever get end up making a cosplay of your vtuber avatar, i'd really love to see it !! (btw sorry for leaving such a massive comment fhskjdf)

Thanks for sharing! 🎉 I've done some cosplays and played with sfx makeup and improv as a themepark horror-maze actress which was a lot of fun. ❤ My most complicated cosplay was Kaneki Ken from Tokyo Ghoul. I thrifted and weathered the outfit and used cardboard, tape and thin foam to create these big tentacle-thingies covered in scales (called "kagune), sticking out my back. I even made a type of harness out of an old backpack + plastic table leg bases + fishing strings to keep everything in place. 😎 I didn't win any prizes but I had a ton of people wanting to take a photos, touch or ask about the prop. And even met up with some strangers cosplaying from the same show to take a big group photo. It was a lot of fun, even though I had to sit the opposite way on chairs and get help from my friends when moving around the convention. 😂 I haven't been to a con since 2019 actually (studies, tha rona, work), but I'm going to one this August actually! And it's a con on a cruise between Norway and Denmark, I just know it's going to be fun😍

BUT...last year I finally managed to plan ahead and made a costume for Dragoncon! I made and wore an Owlbear costume! Full cotton pajama suit, that was then covered in thick fur and feathers, and a large foam headpiece. In Atlanta. In the middle of the summer. I go through cosplay waves. I’ll go NUTS one year, then take a burnout break for a couple years, thinking I’ll never cosplay again, only to be followed by a new cosplay frenzy. After all these years I still find myself in cosplay crunches…. every time. Most recently I spent 2 months solely working on making the cosplays in my free time (for myself and my partner), the entire weekend before the con I worked nonstop without sleep (??HOW? I don’t know where the drive comes from, I become possessed) and was STILL sewing on the plane, and in the hotel room, up to the very last second before the photoshoot. So it’s not even a matter of not spending my time wisely, I think I just keep getting more and more ambitious and need twice as much time as I think I need. Anyway I’m almost 30, I really need to stop the all-nighter marathons 💀

I have made exactly two cosplays, both of which I only wore once in the comfort of my own bedroom: Hunter from The Owl House, and Connor from Detroit: Become Human. I did the most planning for Hunter, taking my sibling's spare elf ears and cutting the slit out as well as giving some dimension with reds and blues. I also did some stuff on my face for his eyebags (not that I didn't already have some of those myself) and some dirt and scratches. I was specifically cosplaying the outfit he wears after deserting the Emperor's Coven in the episode Labyrinth Runners, so I wanted to look rather worn down. For Connor, it was an idea I had the same hour I put it together (I think I may have been running a high temperature at this point) and had very minimal details. I definitely had other colours, but could only find blue face paint to use for it, which worked fine given what colour thiruim (Android blood) is, though I did almost stain all of my carpet blue. Overall I really enjoyed both ventures, and I really do want to do more cosplays, but that's all I managed so far.

Yes. You should cosplay your own character, especially if you are at a selling con. I feel a little jealous that you had so many cons close to you. I've never had the money (courage) or any close to me to attempt to go to. It's great to hear your tales of fun and woe about it. As someone who does sewing as a small business (kinda) making plusies, it is never as easy as some people seem to think it is.

If it makes you feel any better... I've never cosplayed (but I enjoy watching competitions), but I was once on a business trip to Albany, NY. There was some kind of big festival happening one of the weekends I was there, so I threw on a pair of shorts & a tee and headed over to pretty much the opposite end of the city... on foot. I was wandering around for a good 2-3 hours and sat down on the grass near the old canal to listen to a band that was playing... and glanced down to realize that my shorts were, to borrow your expression, two leg tubes only loosely attached to each other by the zipper in front. I'd apparently been walking around like that for at least an hour because I suddenly realized what that "hmm, that felt weird" moment had been when I made a big step up to climb over a small retaining wall. I had to walk *blocks* back to the hotel, trying to hide my thoroughly exposed underwear with just a small backpack and a couple of pieces of paper.

Hey star, I've been watching your vids for a few months to help get through regular ol school and I used to only do cosplays for Halloween and it was usually a group cosplay with my parents and sister but my first ever cosplay (outside of costume days at school and Halloween) where I actually went to a convention I did Haruhi Fujioka and I had so many people ask for pictures but I was the only Ouran cosplayer in the whole convention and this year I'm thinking of doing Jill Valentine from Re1! Love your vids and love the cosplays you showed in this funny vid! ☺️

I love cosplay, but I mostly order premade costumes nowadays, cause the first time I needed to sew a whole outfit for myself I had a mental breakdown, a lack of overall patience to learn, and just swore off the whole sewing thing for the rest of my cosplay days. I've been lucky enough to find what I need online nowadays, even from some really obscure things, but if I ever get forced back into sewing, maybe I'll give it a proper try. I love wig designing tho, that shit is way more my speed. That and like building props. The year before my major sewing debut I made a cosplay for the knight from Hollow Knight and still am incredibly proud of the cardboard surrounding mask I made. It looked better than most things you could get online, so I was pretty damn satisfied with it.

I think my favorite cosplay I've done to date was a full body Mimikyu cosplay I did for my local Comic-Con. It was "Fun" to make it but I will say I should have sewn the fabric to the skirt to keep the skirt from bunching up underneath the fabric every 10 minutes I was walking

I haven't been to any cons so the closest I have to cosplaying is a Carmen Sandiego (the reboot version) for Halloween, a Catra costume (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) for a different Halloween, and Stephen Strange (from the Marvel movies duh) for the following Halloween. All of them were very amateur and I had help for most of them - I was very proud of how I jerry-rigged a white sunhat into a Carmen Sandiego fedora using red felt though. My dream cosplay at the moment is probably Alastor (Hazbin Hotel) which I'm planning to do this year, hopefully I manage to make it as show-accurate as possible lol!

I'm relatively new to cosplay (I've got about 4 costumes I've made so far?) And my favorite as of yet is my Miku costume. Made entirely by hand, the only things I bought were a pair of cream colored tights to attach the black fabric to to make the socks, black shoes with a slight heel, the tie, and the wig. And each of those three things were modified in some way shape or form. Otherwise it was completely hand made with shiny fabrics and glittery paint. That's not my favorite part though. My favorite part is I lines the hair bands, skirt, shoes, and armbands with fairy lights so Miku can glow! As painful as that costume can be (dollar store slightly too big heels + massive heavy wig = owww), I'm very very proud of it. And in the contest I entered it into I got second place! (I was beat out by and Edward elric, but they had this really cool extendable prop that looked like a transmutation, which was so cool that I'm not even slightly upset about that 🤣)

this video was really nice to watch/listen to while i was drawing. coincidentally, i just today finished my only second ever cosplay, as possessed!Hunter from the owl house! and its come out so much better than i ever could have imagined. Ive been working on it almost every day for over a month, almost two months, and my work has really paid off! I'm even in the process of hand painting 30 clay figures of Hunter's palismans, flapjack and waffles! (15 of each) to give to people i see at a con in just a few weeks! ill be keeping them in two drawstring bags that i also made myself attached to my belt! my first ever cosplay was a year ago, when i cosplayed as Wirt from over the garden wall, which i stitched entirely by hand because i didn't know how to use a sewing machine, still didn't know how until a classmate showed me a few weeks ago when she noticed me trying and failing miserably to hand stitch a pair of gloves and offered to teach me the basics of using a sewing machine lmao

I have done very little and I want to get into it more, but between school and my terrible addiction to playing video games (not violent shooters, I hate shooters, the only shooter I’ve ever liked is splatoon) I just can’t find the time… or the money. But I did once do a budget cosplay of Madeline from celeste for a school Halloween dress up day once. I grabbed a backpack, a blue raincoat, some tramping boots and a pair of thick black trousers, and lastly I bought a pink wig from the $2 store for her pink hair (post reflection). It didn’t look very good but if you knew about her it wasn’t too hard to pick up on it

I haven't cosplayed before, but one I would like to do if I enter a cosplay contest would be Rin from Lost Song, because that would give me a reason to learn the words to the song of healing from the show, along with possibly the other songs. Outside of that, I would also like to cosplay either Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew (because I already have a pair of black ears and a tail that would work perfectly), or pre-time loop Homura from Madoka Magica (so I could actually be able to wear my glasses and have more than a foot's worth of clear vision)

Ah, reminds me of my first cosplay. Me and my family are all crafters and we decided to cosplay Farscape , I was D'argo and a pretty cute one too since I was only 10 and the shortest in our group. Our best cosplay was definitely The Dark Crystal, I was Deet with a fizzgig hand puppet made out of a real racoon skin hat and we had an epic skecsis head that we had our dad carry while covered in curtains. Pretty much the whole convention recognized us. We almost always make our cosplays and props ourselves but unfortunately our anime cosplays never get a lot of recognition

I once had a cosplay of an inkling girl from splatoon that i wore a lot. Like a lot a lot. The shorts were made out of a random stretchy fabric i got from some old yoga pants of mine. I made the skin tight shorts and i button up shirt from the game along with the classic standard shirt and the blue sneakers. I wore this thing as a childball the time for all kinds of things, sometimes even around the house. Eventually me and some family were celebrating Karneval. It's a common holdiday to celebrate in Germany which is where i lived. Now this was in February i think 2017 ? I was lioe maybe 11 years old and was having the time of my life when suddenly the the fabric around my upper inner thigh ripped. It wore down over time because i wore it so much. I ran crying to my mom and she immediately gave me her jacket to tie it around my waist. We were an hour drive away from home and our car was a 15 minute walk away. By the time we got home around 3 hours later (we didn't immediately go back to the car) my inner thighs were bright red and almost bloody from rubbing against eachother and leftover strings of fabric. It was terrible and possibly the worst thing i experienced in cosplay.

That ripped pants story slowly caused my neck to recoil into my shoulders as I realized that unlike in SpongeBob…pants don’t always let you know if they ripped or not…and of course…when they do…THE LAST THING YOU WANNA DO IS DO THE CHICKEN DANCE OR WHATEVER AND MAKE IT WORSE!!! However, as embarrassing as ripping your pants can be, at least if they make a ripping sound, you can attend to it immediately! But when they are slowly and silently unraveling…(or even just rip silently) That just sounds MORTIFYING!!! (I think I’d implode from embarrassment before SpongeBob even crosses my mind if I discovered my pants had ripped LONG AFTER THEY ACTUALLY RIPPED!!!) Not that being able to catch it immediately is any better, but at least you can attend to it as best you can before anything serious happens…hopefully… In fact, while I don’t think I ever ripped my trousers (in public at least, thank gosh!) I do think I wore my jeans on backwards when I went to the movies once! It was Horton Hears a Who, and I was so excited before, during, and after the movie that I didn’t realize my back pockets were in the front until I got home and was in my bedroom! And in that moment my heart almost stopped, and I think I fell on my face on my bed in embarrassment!!! I felt the zipper on the back…and I that is why I double check where the tag is on all of my clothing!!!😅😅😅

I'm very casual about cosplaying, I make one every few years of my current hyperfixation, but it's fun! I did N from Pokémon (also did the hairspray trick, ALSO learned why you shouldn't), then Professor Juniper because it was cheap, Squigly from Skullgirls (still have the shirt! Had to wear sandals over the bare socks because the con was in asphalt) and Hex from Skylanders (made armor out of cardboard right over my elbows and used a resin skull prop that weighted more than my bag, PAIN) before covid hit. Finally my current ones are Kris from DELTARUNE because it's easy to match with real clothes and easy props, which pushed me to finally try a contest (didn't win, but made friends!) and 90% done with Korsica from Hi-Fi RUSH - my hardest challenge yet, and the first time I'm going the whole nine yards with lenses, complex props and a custom wig. I had a test run earlier this year with everything but the ponytail and jacket, and preparing for the real deal in a few months! Korsica's ponytail points straight up and no amount of teasing was keeping it there, so I need to make a felt cone and base and ruin a whole wig gluing it there. Why.

I made my first cosplay a few weeks ago as of writing this and oh lord, i can’t sew for the life of me either. Which is ironic because my aunt does this as a profession. So i was handling the ropes of sewing together some…crappy old shirt that smelled like beer and cheese and then adding some acrylic paint, not fabric paint, on top. I was cosplaying König from Call of Duty (CoD) and boy oh boy…the smell of that shirt still haunts me. I don’t wear it often for good reason 😭

I did my first real cosplays this year. I did Silver from Twisted Wonderland on the first day and on the second I did Chiaki Morisawa from Ensemble Stars. On the first day my sister and I were in a photoshoot that another twst fan had and I have photos and nice memories from it. We ended up walking around with a bunch of twst fans from the photoshoot and had a good time showing them were the merch for it was. On the second day when we were Chiaki and Kanata from Ensemble Stars we met up with my sister's online friend who was dressed as Eichi from the same anime. We met other Enstars fans and we ended up getting little boxes with a random mochi keychain in it. We ended up getting Chiaki and Kanata, the characters we dressed as. The two fans we were with and the two of us were freaking out positive. Next year I want to do some more since I had a good time and it helped me to get closer to my sister. I want to dress as Samatoki Aohitsugi from Hypnosis Mic next year along with my sister as either Gentaro or Ramuda from the same anime.

I think the closest I've come to actually cosplaying would be when I wore my blue lantern hoody and a blue lantern ring made from the remains of a ring pop to my local library's comic con. it was pretty fun if a bit warm, I even knew(know) the oath. I've also worn a cloak my gma made for me a few times but I'm not sure if that counts as cosplay. and after watching this, part of me is tempted to cosplay Nepeta from Homestuck(probably wouldn't do the skin though because... yeah) to the comic con this year

I got my degree in technical sewing with an emphasis in costuming and cosplay (yes that was the certifications name) so I love cosplay! I’m upset cause I mostly make cosplay for other people but I was able to make a human version of Totoro that i absolutely love! Currently it doesn’t fit and I was never able to wear it to a convention because of Covid but im hoping I might be able to alter it and wear it to a convention maybe this year. Im also in the middle of making a few other cosplays for myself currently those being: neoqueen serenity (sailor moon), Shiki (the world ends with you 2), and Sakura (Tsubasa chronicles). The Tsubasa chronicles cosplay is a group one and I’m making the other characters as well. The person playing Fay has such different measurements than what I’m use to that patterning it to fit her form has been a challenge but I’m slowly getting there. Anyways I loved this video and I’m for sure going to reference it for possible future cosplay ideas. You do such a good job on your cosplay I’m a bit jealous lol.

I've wanted to do cosplay for my whole childhood. I've done only a few and finished 2 (finished in quotes for one). When I was a kid I for Halloween I made a Nike Wilde cosplay that was thrift. I made ear but I had made them with floral foam so they sucked so badly which made it hard to do cosplay again really until now. I had also sprayed my hair with cheap walmart colored hair spray to turn it orange and black. For Halloween 2022 I finished a Stone Ocean Jotaro Kujo cosplay to wear to my friends party. I fucking love Jojo, Stone Ocean, and my man Jotaro so I had to make it and it's my most precious thing. It was the first time making clothes since high-school and I had most of the stuff like decorating a hat, crafted his little hand pin And bought the snakeskin pants and boots for it all so that summer now that I had more all i had left was his coat. I had did everything I could to just thrift and customize one but I couldn't find a base coat that I liked so I made one from scratch. I took a whole week measuring, sketching, and planning to make my own sewing pattern from scratch that fit my body. I made his chain from foam dowels and foam clay and hand painted the stars and Jojo sleeve stripes myself. It's far from perfect. The gold stripes are coming off and a lot of the seams are really bad and my cat peed on it for some reason. I still think the hat is almost series accurate. I put so much work into it. I also have half a DiU Jotaro costume and Gappys hat that I made on a whim. Jojo has to many stupid outfits that I plan to make more but I'm happy that I made my favorite of the whole series.
