I remember very vividly of being a child and going through the channels and when this turned on I dropped and lost the remote. I knew what was coming and was panicking and freaking out and in tears, keeping my ears covered. The remote was gone. I remember jumping on the couch screaming for my dad. He comes in and turns the tv off. I didn’t walk alone, or in the dark for several years without thinking of the crypt after that 😅
Remember the "black box" that was "chipped"? All the channels (even ppv) were free. This intro reminds me of staying the night at my cool friends house, staying up till 2, watching tales from the crypt and spice.😍 Sneaking natural lights and smoking swisher sweets. Ahh, the nineties. Back when easy and pac were still alive.
oh God ..the fucking same! 😂 it was back 97 ish or 1999.. the same thing goes when we had our first Playstation ohh yess PS1 BABY..where my dad and I would play silent hill for the first time ever and got addicted to it (same goes with resident evil and metal gear).. wheew years came and here we are two thousand fucking 16.. these games are now fucking "classics".. God we are getting old! 😱😳😣😁

When I was in Middle school we went to the Mall of America. I personally don't like roller coasters but there was this one ride that is kinda like a haunted house, but you had to shoot ghosts and stuff. I went on it over and over again and i really never shot any ghosts but just enjoyed the ride its self. I thought of that ride as soon as i read that and I think it would work out perfectly! I'm sure there are haunted house rides though.

I'm 28 and this intro still scares the fuck out of me in a way (o_0) I think it is some deep-seated thing from watching this back when I was 7. Anytime I heard that music start playing, I knew it was time to race upstairs for bed lol. I did watch an episode here and there as a kid though and I remember every single episode I saw at the time! Even the movie, Demon Knight, creeped me out!
Haha, I ran out of the room the first two times I saw it. I later forced myself to watch it, but I did have a blanket out in the living room just for this intro.

Takes From the Crypt was a phenomenal show. Over the years they had a variety of notable guests including Academy Award-winning actors and other A-list celebrities.
I won't lie I used to do the same thing. One night i was feeling brave and i watched him come out which resulted in me having one of the WORSE nightmares i have in my memory. DAMN good times😌
When I was little of course this music scared the crap out of me 😂😂 now I love it! For those of you who grew up in this era we had the best child hood!! I miss the 90’s😔

I like how the intro consists entirely of a guy slowly making his way to the krypt keepers' lair. Its like "ugh i hate it when my landlord calls me in" and he starts dragging his feet xD

The second the HBO intro cleared and it revealed this theme I was gone. The first time I watched the intro I was overall okay until the jump scare at the end, which to a 8 year old who wasn't used to the horror genre freaked me the hell out.
Its the PILLARS that get me i mean LOOK AT THEM... First time i saw them stairs as a kid, i KNEW i was NOT gonna like what was down there and that this show was gonna be CREEPY.
Always heard about this show. My mom wanted me to watch an episode when I was little because I was sad that I had watched all of the Goosebumps episodes, Tales From The Crypt being and alternative. I played an episode and they started cursing and my mom turned it off. I am now 14, and watching it, and absolutely loving it. Gives me nostalgia for my love of Goosebumps as a kid.
OMG this intro hits so hard, i watch this show religiously when i was like 5 and it scared the crap out of me. An extremely happy memory of my best stage in life.

I mean I watched all the episodes as a kid in the 90's but they were more funny than scary. The crypt keeper really knew how to tap into ur funny bone with all his jokes and puns. He's like the funny uncle everyone has in the family lol
nostalgia It'd be awesome to have a second, secret basement below your normal basement, only accessible through a secret passageway and windy narrow staircase coming down all the way from the first floor. It'd be like a panic room, vault, and bunker all in one hidden package
This intro always scared the shit out of me. It always came on after Spawn and I'd just sit there scared yet mesmerized by imagery. Not to mention Pee-Wee's Big Adventure with Large Marge...that one fucking freaked me out so bad.
I used to read the old old oooooold comics from the 50's that my dad had kept a hold of from his childhood. I loved the Hell out of this show (and the cartoon). I always loved horror and spook'ms more than I should have. Especially as a kid. lol

My older brother (7) would put this on for me (3) just to freak me out. He would crank the volume up as loud as possible and hide the remote so that it couldn’t be quieter unless you got up to the tv (which I was not going to do). I still remember crying so much in the middle of the night just from hearing the intro song 🤣 Poor me!!

Just to let y'all know I exited the video before that damn coffin opened. I'm 27 and its been 22 years and I'm still scared of that damn crypt keeper. But give me credit, at least I typed it in and tried to face my fears.
I think part of the reason this intro works so well is that it's like an intrusive thought gone absolutely wild. That little part of you, when you see a creepy old, desiccated, obviously haunted house, that kind of wants to go up to the fence. To go up to the door. In through the door. Deeper into the house, around the corner where you can't see the exit anymore, and down the stairs... It's that realization that there are a million freaky looking houses in the world, and the thought of what could be hiding in the basement.
