I love all the perfect dodge voice lines but Alphens does give me the most issues I do still love it though My favorites Dohalim: "Now it's my turn" Law: "Too slow"(even better when followed up with his "You're wide open" counter line) Compared to these two Alphen might as well be saying Git gud as his Try Harder has about the same energy
*Ganabelt start chanting* ah cool cool magic Mystic Arte, let's see what you got Ganabelt: I, who stands bathed in heavenly light Me: Ah guess I'm gonna die
The casting animation and environment seemed familiar but I never paid heed to it since the ground has Dark Astral Energy. But when he finished casting and he said "Divine Lightning". I said to myself, Wait what? Like HOLY LIGHTNING?? INDIGNATION? Ahh shii.. here we go again. Needless to say, My party got wiped.
Just started playing after I bought it a year ago 💀. Honestly I didn’t even know what the English sounded like cause I only play games in Japanese. Even as an American I gotta say the English language sounds corny as hell
What an awesome game, the villains could’ve done with more development but I loved the majority of the characters and no one in the party ever really annoyed me. Maybe I’m just a sucker for jrpgs but for me this is a 9/10 experience
Its a bit of a shame because i think they could have boosted the villain's sorely needed screentime by cutting like 15% of all main group talking scenes (skits included) without hurting the story and relationships, since a lot of it is just repating the same thing over and over or giving you 13 yo philosophy.
@@popkhorne5372 I agree, the character dynamics between the main cast got a little repetitive near the end, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to move away from them for a little and delve into Vholrans backstory, or give the Helganquil some actual personality instead of making them all drones, I was really disappointed when the Rena reveal happened, I expected a whole planet
The mage character was useful and not annoying, and the edgelord protagonist turned out to be a giant armor-clad teddy bear. I actually LIKED all the characters this time around. Had to pick a party based on gameplay rather than who I personally hated least.
@@mxp4se They made all the mystic artes pretty easy to pull off in this iteration. Rinwell doesn't even really need "artes", she's got air abilities with 0 cast time. At least it's not like Berseria where the activation would've been "After casting 3 combination spells"
Somehow (while I'm playing) I feel like all the VAs had fun performing the Mystic, Astral and regular artes. Even some of the in game convos in and out of battle. It just sounds like everyone enjoyed doing them.
@@jinshim2536 That move gave me ptsd, Especially when my dumbass refused to acknlowedge that alexendrite (-50% Light damage reduction) existed in my reserve equipment
Honestly I'm glad she doesn't. Her being more "self-taught" and coming up with her own Mystic Artes plays better into her character, and keeping her feeling more "elemental" sets her more apart from Laphi.
Honestly it would’ve been perfect as her second Mystic Arte. She is the only one that can use lightning magic, outside of Renans with the Light Mastercore, as the last Dahnan mage. I’m still glad both of her Mystic Artes use lightning, but I was hoping for the ultimate expression of Dahnan magics.
For me, the only character i had that would regularly go into over limit and use his myatic art was Law. None of the others would do it on their own except occasionally Kisara. Even Alphen who i mainly used rarely went into OL, so its nice to see these here
I know what you mean, I've made the same experience, Law went in almost every fight into over limit (it looks like they get into overlimit due to how much damage they took idk...🙃) i didn't even knew how to unlock the other mystic artes (beside Alphen) until i have maxed out the friendship with Shionne... which was nearly at the end of the Game😆😐, never used Campfire so much
@@Fiore-san yeah OL builds up a couple different ways, one is dodging i think. But yes Law went into OL almoat every fight for me. The seconds mystic art, for me, is hard to trigger
That's because Law has 6 skill tree perks that give him easier over limit. 3 normal ones and 3 in awakening. And because OVL is tied to damage taken and dodging that makes Law, Kisara, and Alphen (maybe Dohalim too if he isn't being a spell caster) the most likely to get into OVL. And also you probably won’t notice Shionne, Rinwell, and maybe Dohalim in OVL, because spellcasting into a mystic arte can be quite difficult if they don't get their spells in on time.
@@Unovah yes, im aware of how it works, sadly the though even with kisara i think i maybe saw her go into OL once or twice. Even playing as alphen and dodging fairly regularly i didnt go into OL super often. But either way, Law is a staple in my party
@𝐗 𝐗 𝐕 𝐈 𝐈 100% agree, his over limit spam and damage boosts are why i main him but its still really satisfying to pull off the MA lvl 2 with any character especially with characters that struggle to do so but yeah landing Law's MA lvl 2 became a walk in the park after I figured out a perfect formula that works 90% of the time, rarely ever drops idk why it does sometimes but I like all the characters MA's
@@yoyok7609 Ikr... Fractured Milla and Ludger deserved to live. Plus it’d make sense for them to be there due to Canann and that they waited to observe if any fractured dimensions occur or waiting for their friends and Elle to join them.
Seeing how they did mystic artes here, I honestly like how they handled them. They look to be implemented well with the new system and having them be in real time to test your skills with perfect dodging is good for risking to increase your overlimit gauge. And now it makes you wonder how would cameo battles go against other characters. Say like when Guy (Tales of the Abyss) would use Brilliant Overlord and such. But I'm REALLY LIKING WHAT I'M SEEING!
Eh I kind of disagree. I played the game pretty much purely as Shionne and the chances at perfect dodging happen a lot less frequently because I’m ranged. This system heavily favors melee. All my melee teammates got over limit constantly almost 2-3 times every encounter and like 5+ on bosses while Rinwell and I barely got it.
My favorite thing was in I believe the second Vohlron fight when he drops the giant blade of ice on you I just perfect dodged it did the counter edge and then dodged outwards triggered another perfect dodge and just looped that like six times in a row and it was so sick
Just finished the game, i loved it ! MAs are pretty good and i love how they implemented them in the battle system for enemies, gotta get those sweet sweet dodges for overlimit ! By the way i think you forgot the Great Spirit's MA, Black Hole ;)
I hope there is dual mystic artes, at least 3, because it would be weird that a game who turn around the new boost strike system didn’t have them but they look great
@@khara8561 yeah but that’s a paid dlc and tbh having a MA with three peoples with 2 from another franchise BEFORE people in the game is kinda weird, at least give us a alphen shionne MA
Just a general tip for anyone. Using the flaming sword counts an arte also. So if u can end the combo with the flaming sword and trigger the 2nd mytic arte. 2 reason this good. 1. You can actually use a flaming sword arte at the end of the overlimit and eventhough the overlimit status ends, you can still activate the overlimit. 2. U can release the charge flaming sword arte and get your Hp as low as possible. This is good bcoz since alphen has nodes that increase attack at near death. Your mystic arte will do more damage at the end of the combo. Since Alphens 2nd mystic arte have a decent combo to it. Every hit will 3 times more than damage, or more even.
There’s a new animation out now from the SAO collaboration. You can get it from the training grounds quest by two characters that stand out, mostly a guy in a black coat if you know what I mean.
With Chronos and the Earth siblings serving as cameos it opened my eyes as to how similar Alphin is with Ludger, Sorey and even Velvet. The chromatus, the armatus, and the Theron claw, their just the flame core sword. A power with various risks using repeatly.
Tales of Arise lore: “Only Renans can use astral artes.” Also Tales of Arise: “Let’s have Kisara’s best attack shoot a laser beam out of her shield.” Bruh
It's Tales series staple. Your characters' attacks may be incredibly flashy, but they're not magic, unless stated otherwise. Just in case, in Tales of Phantasia your objective for middle part of the game is to find magic users who alone can oppose Dhaos. Meanwhile, Cless, the protagonist, can literally, physically turn into phoenix through the power of swordsmanship. Yet it doesn't count as magic. Remakes toned down on it, but he still can conjure a flaming bird with his Rising Phoenix arte.
@@xellis8434 yeah i guess. The only tales of i think that made it logical is tales if symphonia when you equip lloyd an elemental stone and it chamges his rising falcon to rising phoenix when it's a garnet or lightning thrust if he has a sardonix equipped. For presea , i alwaus figured she was just so strong that the earth we see her doing is just her doing splash damage when she smashes the ground. Regal, though, might still be a mystery with his "healer" spell. Although it might just be ki related, not magic
@@ZelosSama yes, it's logical, but there's still this pesky inexplicable Demon Fang and its derivatives. No strength will allow you to shoot waves of energy out of your sword. Speaking of strength, Symphonia anime has a scene where Lloyd and co defeat seal guardian without their exspheres. That's definitely non-realistic feat. As of Regal, AFAIK it's not directly stated that he uses ki, but strongly implied so. His healing artes were borrowed from Farah from Tales of Eternia, and she DOES explicitly uses ki to do it. I personally prefer to think that every non-magical arte uses ki in some form.
@@xellis8434 yeah for the ki , i came up with the same conclusion. i would wager lloyd uses ki for his demon fang as well. as for the seal guardian, well , i dont take the anime as cannon anyway. it diverged a lot from the game . and i also don't remember the seal guardian part, been too long lol
It actually kills the challenge. Old Tales games have bosses where you get screwed over the moment a boss MA Cut-in 2D picture pops up. I find the lack of blocking too disturbing, this isn't the Tales way. MCs gotta stand there and take it like a MAN.
@@ShimanoGoro1 You have nothing to avoid, if you prevent them from activating it. It's better to feel that challenging pressure when ethe enemy is at half health or in Overdrive state rather than dodgable ongoing attack. It feels like easy mode and it takes away that cinematic feel for the villain having his time retaliating from the damage you made.
@@zarthosbtw Not All enemy MA one shots, they leave you at 1 HP. That moment is where you brain makes a decision weather to continue backstepping or pull out the item menu. This game gives you IV frames cuz your healing has it's point count, it's rather annoying especially if your party member auto heals you even if have an regen ability that doesn't use Cure points.
Though I gotta say I hope they add more cameos with updates or even DLC because those are always the best fights in recent Tales of games that I don't mind paying a few extra dollars for a kick-ass fight.
They turned Rock Mountain into a mystic arte?! Now i kinda want to see Genis is a battle system like this, except ALL of his high tier spells are these Mystic Arte level cinematic masterpieces.
platinumed the game but other than alphen and shionne... kisara, dohalim, and rinwell never pulled off their second mystic Arte lol. (I mained Law, so I saw crimson skies many many times) love them!
I mained Alphen. Besides him (since I'm in control), I've only seen Law's second Mystic Arte. The other AI wouldn't do them. I've only seen Dohalim's first MA (party member) *once.*
How difficulty it is to deal with enemies Mystic Arte in this game? When I played Tales of Graces if enemy hit you while they are in Eleth Break, even if just a scracth they will immediately follow up with Mystic Arte.
I think we can all agree we've seen plenty of Law's mystic going off! I've lost count of how many times that fuccboi goes over limit after only taking two steps in a battle. Not even exaggerating lmao
@@xenoviaarchus6068 Assuming you really are capable of doing a lv1 naked run of any souls game then any of the tales games would be a cakewalk anyways. As for the other 90% of gamers that can't finish Bloodborne blindfolded I'm pretty sure the endgame bosses will prove challenging enough.
you can but its a dps check. First fight with him if your on hard you can't really beat the dps check as they have a lot of health (clones) the rematch when your a higher level its easier to stop it
How do I achieve Rinwell's 2nd mystic arte? It's impossible to chain 5 magic to achieve the 5-combos condition for me. Her casting took too long for her OL duration.
How did you get Shionne's Explosive Charge, Rinwell's Aquarius Damnation, Dohalim's Epochal Severance, Law's Crimson Skies (or Heavenly Crimson Blossom), and Kisara's Final Prayer?
@@montelhelem8707 speaking of mitranslations one of Rinwell's Artes is labeled as a Mystic Arte when it's a normal Arte and when I first got Alphens second MA it called it a Master Arte. There's a lot of typos and mistranslations in this game
@@IosLocarth Don't worry buddy I've seen so many in the game so far it makes my stomach turn, the fucking localization team has been slacking off BIG time, either them or the translation team
Second Mystic Artes are used after hitting 5 separate artes in a chain in OL. It can be a bit finicky so I recommend doing the training in the arena to get it down.
@@AliciaWhimsicott YOu actually dont have to land the 5 different artes in a single combo. You just need to use 5 different artes during the activation. Of course the last one must be part of a combo. That being said, its probably best to just do the 5 different artes in a single combo lol.
The one thing I don´t like is that MAs are tied to OL. As a mechanic I really don´t like OL and I was really happy when MAs were something you could just do without needing some semi random thing to happen to that character in Berseria. On the other hand we did get Boost Strikes and some of them like Flashing Fang, Burning Strike, Radiant Genesis and Extend Gate are even cooler than most MAs.
Ganabelt: I who commands the Astral plane, whilst thou are cursed to expire into nothing... Me: Clichéd stuck-up boss banter. Like I haven't heard that before. @@VentusFury It's the cross shaped weapon that looks like that old ball in the cup toy from '80s-'90s. I misspelled it, it's Kendama, not Kodama (those are those irritating green spirit guys from Nioh). Anyway the one that teaches Genis Final Prayer you get from the Meltokio Coliseum's Advanced Class.
IIRC, once Alphen has his mask removed and got his Blazing Sword back when Shionne is saved, his second Mystic Arte is unlocked. But as for Shionne and others, you kinda chat with them at the camp to get closer until you get their second Mystic Arte.
Doing Kisara's Second Mystic Arte is so hard sometimes. I be doing the combos and everything and it just doesn't work. But when I connect like 12+ hits then it decides to work.
@@CGInferno No prob lol. I beat him super fast too so all I saw was the MA go off while I pounded him into dust lol. It must've been a charge type MA like Ganabelts Indignation.
So boss MAs are able to be dodged most of the time. What the magic?! Not only Edna and Eizen, but Chronos too!!!? Though that might explain why they’re together in the Arise world.
