When I was a child, about 9, my ballet teacher told all her students to watch this at the theatre. All the kids were running and yelling in the theater. I think I was the only person there who really enjoyed the film.
An UNFORGETTABLE Royal Ballet film, I have this production on DVD it is absolutely ENCHANTING from beginning to end, love love love this production, beautiful choreography the incredibly talented beautiful professional dancers with irresistible beautifully made costumes and AMAZING masks that is feast for the eyes and the magical music for the ears, combine it altogether warms the cockles of your heart and it is one of my favourite Royal Ballet Films of all time for all ages that makes the film FOREVER timeless. Breathe DANCE, feel dance live DANCE. FOREVER DANCE. Thankyou for giving us such a treat. BRAVO to all those involved a TRULY AWESOME production.♥
Thank you so much for showong this! I Love it and have seen this on TV every since I was a little girl. It was always shown around Christmas and New year in Sweden and I miss it lots since moving to the US, so Thank you bunches!!!
Had the books as a kid and my grandma picked this up for me just to watch. She knew nothing about it being a ballet, but she recognized the characters. It was a great discovery
My Mum took us to see this at the cinema when I was 5 years old, it was the first film I ever saw at the cinema. All I remember is crying with boredom and disappointment and being left with a lifelong aversion to ballet
They used to show this in Canada, on the CBC I think, back in the very late 70's/early 80's around Christmas time and New Year's. Strange how I still remember this after not having seen in in like over 40 years!
Thank you so much! The DVD is out of print but thanks to your video I was able to make sure which DVD to order by name on Amazon. My daughter used to love to borrow the movie from the library and I have searched for years for it :-)
my mom and i were going through old vhs tapes when we found this recorded and let me tell you; it's a lot scarier when played with glitchy vhs effects and heightened colors. i swear, i'm watching it right now and it looks like something right out of a horror movie.
This is basically the strangest trip ever. The announcer's weirdly overripe British diction makes it even more hallucinatory, if such a thing is possible.
