What I really like about this game is its mechanism with actually using leg pressure and hand to control the horse, having actual horse response. its not just a simple WASD thingy here, and its well done! Im a bit judging the shader (mainly the body outline and in the horses mane/tail), looking bit noisy and crispy, specially from the distance but hey, its looking great. It lifts up from every other basic looking horse game and made by one person its huge respect for this work and keeping up the progress, im curious what the future still holds for this game c:
Absolutely! I can see the issues with the visual, I'm not a very visual person, my focus is more gameplay + feeling. But I've heard a few people mention the weird outlines XD But yes, I can't WAIT to see what else the dev will do!
Yea I mean it’s still in early development so I wouldn’t expect it to be perfect but I think it’s going very well for a horse game, it’s pretty rare to find good horse games with constant updates and bug fixes so we won’t get bored!
Another thing about the horse personalities: I noticed that Blaze is more...fidgety than Tati. She throws her head, snorts, and even swishes her tail more. She's - as you said, an obviously much more bold horse, that is just raring to go at all times (she reminds me a lot of Damon, and Rose from the demo), and it shows in the way she moves, even when she's not jumping. It's so nice seeing someone put such an attention to detail in a game like this
I know a lot of players got annoyed by the "chatty" instructor, but dear lord did I love it myself. It felt like I was there, really in the saddle, and taking a lesson. I loved every minute of it, once I got past being confused and lost at the beginning. xD And yeah, the difficult to master riding felt kinda reminiscent of the old Let's Ride Riding Star and Riding Club Championships. It's amazing. All we need now is more content.
IKR!! Moar of this please! :D Or perhaps different instructors with different styles? Some really short and to the point and others like the one in the EA? That would be awesome!
that was actually something that pleasantly surprised me when i started playing the first lesson. it felt so immersive and really like i was back taking riding lessons
@@Ariabtw Exactly! The usual straightforward tutorials we get in most games are just too "robotic" and don't feel like a real thing. You'd expect that a experienced tutor would chat with you while working on your skills. It's just a natural thing people do.
I've been following this game ever since the demo and I could not be happier with the final result! While I would die for Ghost and Bluebell to be available to ride already (or at least some third horse) and I am not a fan of the whole renting system at all whatsoever, I still love the game itself! After that extremely long wait, I feel very satisfied. And I love Tati so much, she's so cute, her color is just awijdawbjdbefrs
The little horse girl inside of me cries in joy. And it´s freeeeee! Holy moly! In the beginning of developement I had the thought it might be a scam because the world of horses is just so burned by one scam game after another but this one turned out good. I´m so glad!
I agree with your take on the daily rentals. I absolutely *hate* that I can't ride what I want to ride when I want to ride it! I get that it's setting up in game time but if it could be turned off in settings for now it'd be a godsend, especially since there's already text blocking you from leaving the farm (before the magical physic-defying fence was fixed I decided to test out the map on horseback and it actually stopped me from leaving). It makes no sense atm that I have to wait to ride my pretty ponies.
Daily rentals i think sucks now when there isn't much what to do but when other areas be open we may won't even notice this issue anymore. Anyway i like how it is it's a bit different and story is not same as other games help save granpa stables or girl has magic bond with horses and so on xD and about creating our character i think would be neat but we probably can change only clothes as Red dead redemption 2 we could for Arthur because it's story based game xD
@@aurered6387 I agree we'll most likely not notice the rentals when we have more content. This circles back onto my point about turning it off in the settings or disabling the code for it temporarily, especially since we already cant leave the barn anyways.
I wish it had been mentioned that Tati has a fear of brush jumps so she will shoulder out of the jump and you need to fight her to get her to not run out of the jump. It really adds a level of complexity that can keep jumps fresh because you do need to be mindful of the horse's quirks throughout and plan ahead
As a (hopefully) future game designer, this is very hard to watch. If the dev fixes the flaws of the game, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BEAT THAT??? AND IT'S FREE 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Regarding the "daily" rentals, you can actually force a switch in the rentals by manually setting the date on your computer! They'll even change while you are in-game without needing to re-launch. Go forth, ride the horse you want in whichever area you want 🤩
I love how alive the horses feel, especially in first person. You can see the miniscule things the horses do in anticipation to things like poles or jumps. And they will even speed up and slow down as well which is a such a nice touch that feels so real, since you have to work to make them do things as you hope to, rather than how most games just make them monotone and listen to everything perfectly. (Like, Tati likes picking up her head as I go up to poles, and relaxes after. It's so cute)
I've always loved horse games. So I played the free Demo months ago. And downloaded the early access this week, you can already see the improvement, even the way lessons are imparted in-game is amazing, the instructor feels like a real person teaching us newbies. This has to be my favorite horse game I've ever played!
Also, when I first booted up the early access and saw that palomino in a paddock I was like: Is that...? Then I entered the barn and saw one of them was named Prairie Rose, and I was RIGHT!❤ Can't wait to have lessons with rose again!
@@KathsTundra I was also so happy to see Rose again! She's my favourite out of the demo horses. I do wish we get to see all of them again, perhaps at another barn?
Side note (im still watching so you may already note this) but some features are still in the game from the demo, even tho the controls dont show them. Like pressing T for slow motion and C for first person toggling! First person for me is actually easier to jump with because the horses rhythm was easier to notice since it moves the whole screen lol.
Its so different from the original on patreon , but i think ill find myself playing this more than any other horse game. Its so in depth, makes me feel like im riding a horse not controlling a mechanical mount
Downloaded it today!! ❤ It definitely needs a tutorial/arrow for objective in the part where you have to take the bus ( 15:13 exactly same experience lol) and then reach the lessons tab, but I love the commands so far! And the Riding Lessons Tutorial reminded me of my first horse riding lessons irl💕
Opening of the game feels like "let me in"-meme in action (I may have been...stuck for 10min at that bus station... X'D) EDIT: What can be changed is that bugs related to the games should have a dedicated space on Steam, not Patreon. Learned about this from reading the forum...
I love that it doesn't just plop you on the horse but actualy has gameplay mechanics in place for it. It gives the game a extra layer to enjoy/use it Instead of adding extra mechanics it has it as its core and puts more focus on them. Making them more fun Its simaler to minigames if you dont have it as the core/focus it can be anoying, grindy or even bad. But when it is the core/focus its more likely to be cohesive and thus less anoying, grindy or even bad In most games this type of stuff is worked out in a game design document. But i don't think many horse games use those... (sadly...)
Remember, it’s one person who made this game. Making actual logos and actual textures was never on their to do list, since this was never originally supposed to be a fully fledged game (it started out as a project for school)
@@montanamountaingarden476 There are SO MANY fantastic games made by one person where they don't use AI assets. "Just one person" isn't really an excuse to use what is essentially stolen assets.
For the opening part, I first discovered the dressage academy. I spent literally one hour running around the gate, the panel and the fancy academy until I clicked twice in row on Cherry Peaks. It was horrendous haha ! On a more positive note however, the whole game feels even better than the demo. Aside from animations (which matter less in my opinion, because in this case you can focus on actual gameplay rather than having perfect animations like in SSO), the game feels realistic as hell, and the day mechanics doesn’t bother me too much because… well it feels we’re linked to the horses ! The story is intriguing, it makes me want to discover Ava’s story. To me, if the story is well written, we could totally be in a RRP game and not change the character (clothes maybe ?). Anyways, I love that immersion. The trainer’s voice also makes it feel realistic. Overall, I feel like child me on Real Stories Mission Équitation (I don’t know if that french game was translated, but it was really realistic and interesting). The horse mechanics, especially dressage, feels so good and challenging ! The fact that we can’t run in the stables is immersive as well. Thanks for this video ! And… FINALLY no drama !! It feels so good to have such an amazing game finally out. I don’t regret subscribing to her patreon for a bit !
i ADORE the mechanics of this game!! my only thing is the animations of the horse look like they werent looked at from the front and behind lol. the legs in the canter kind of go outwards? also i wish the tail looked like it had an actual tailbone, rather than just hair coming out of its ass. i love your outlast level design comparison too, i cant believe she choked that hard on making a game opening. i was BAFFLED. luckily i figured it out fairly quickly on my own, but man that was insane.
This is something that frustrates me about horse games, the weird bits of hair connected to their ass! Doesn’t look realistic at all and there’s an easy fix for it in making the model 😭 I hope the dev would be open to working on the animations and the tail 🙏
To me trying this game just felt like a breeze is fresh air. FINALLY I could enjoy playing a horse game again, it was challenging but not too hard, also rewarding and just fun. Can't wait to see more!
Since this game is a story mode of some sort with future episodes about this girl ava, i dont think character creation will be a feature. I would rather have horse creation than character creation cuz pretty horsie :D
Ive been playing this game for about 2 days STRAIGHT. The opening confused me a LOT (i thought i skipped something for some reason), but it was totally worth when i figured how to ride the horses. I am absolutely obsessed with the jumping mechanism. I already spent 4 hours playing the game, 3 of them being just riding around and jumping. Im crossing my fingers for the game to not fall apart by time. BTW: if you want to ride outside and jump, you can change the date on your device: 15th forTati, and 19th for Blaze. I also cant wait to ride "Ghost" the white horse in the stable, im already in love with him
Haha! No worries! Glad I could be useful for once XD ♥ It's so weird to hear you getting to be so positive about a game XD Congratz also on the second monitor, it's going to be epic that you can see the people chatting ♥
Yeah, it feels like the back legs are too stretchy, and move too far forward and down in an awkward manner, the animation might need more polishing/references used
Okay! I'm back after trying out the game. I can say this is one of the very few games I can play without background noise/something else to focus on, that's to say it uses all of my brain. I love the dressage mechanics and the jumping! Oh the jumping is SO fun, I've found i can actually count strides pretty well even without the indicator. And over-all this game is great, they've updated the tutorial, actually. Since the video now you *don't* have to press the poster two times, and just interracting with it prompts the main character to check it out! I can't realy play on the highest graphics, sadly. So no shadows for me! But I still throughly enjoyed my time learning the different dressage moves and jumping around nonetheless! It was the first game I managed to feel like I was riding a *real* horse without fooling myself by assigning it a personality.
I haven't been following this game very closely, so the developer might've stated their inspirations. But this really gives me a Pippa Funnell (Petz Horsez for my fellow Americans) vibe, which for me personally adds quite the nostalgic feel to this game. Painterly aesthetics fit horse games so well. Ranch Rescue is still one of my all time favorite horse games and I'll be all over Rein Ravine if it's anything like it (maybe even better than it, it's a very faulty game I'll admit lol). In its current state, though, I find myself lacking interest. I know most people who play horse games are equestrians irl but sometimes it feels like developers forget that other people may want to play these games too, and they do little to entice that crowd. Why am I here? Why does this matter to me? What do I earn from this experience? With this demo, none of these questions were really answered. I'm hoping the full release will mend this issue. I personally can't stand most horse games because of this reoccurring issue. The pixel ponies can act life-like, but they're dead to me until I form some kind of emotional attachment in some way or another.
Once I got past the frustrating opening, I fell in love with this game. Like you, I didn't expect to feel so much like actual riding. It's been 5 years since I've sat in the saddle, but this game took me right back there. Of course it's not a direct 1:1 comparison, but it's the closest thing I've ever seen in a game. It felt so good when my riding instincts started coming back and I started intuitively applying aids and they more or less worked. I can't wait for more lessons to be made available to learn how to effectively ride different horse personalities, learn new dessage movements and hopefully compete in eventing competitions. I'm also curious if controllers will ever be enabled and what type of haptic feedback will come through that.
I have a feeling that the mark around 3:45 is going to be the most played. I did replay it a few times because the facial expression of the horse paired with the statement... just gold XD
Really the only thing I dislike about the game is the horse animations, but at the same time, I've followed this game's development for a LONG time (as in, before it was even announced since I followed the creator's YT channel and instagram - SSO Theory Time I believe it was?) and comparing today's animations to the Roblox knock offs we saw during early development is night and day. By far one of the best horse games on the market purely because of the detail put into the riding mechanics! I do kind of hope they give us an option to disabled striding, even on the easiest option I struggle with it. I'd much rather feel able to enjoy the jumping mechanic with no striding than get frustrated with striding enabled :')
The riding mechanism is absolutely ground-breaking. I do hope there will be more to do though, before this is done :) (At least, I found nothing to do except the three riding lessons and free riding, which puts me in the same arena. Did I miss something? I see more areas in your videos)
I feel like a lot of the game is great and it really does capture the feeling of riding a horse quite good. I just don't like the head being so far back when it's 'on the bit', and the fact that the way we do it is simply pulling back on the reins a repeatedly, which isn't true collection and instead a false frame.
I actually had a section addressing this, but it sort of devolved into a lot of explanation. I'll probably talk about this when I talk RR again, but please keep talking about it because it's good that people see these discussions! ♥ Thansk! Now, if the dev fixes the head and neck (ensuring the poll is the highest point and the head is front of the vertical) I'd be fine conceding with the tapping. Like I said in the video it is extremely difficult to get horse gameplay right and I do feel this dev is trying her best ♥
I've really enjoyed what we currently have with this game! I can't wait to see what's to come in future updates. As for the daily rentals, life hack everyone, it will change based on the date you have your computer set to. If I don't like what's offered I will jump ahead or backwards on my computer calender and then just switch it back once I'm done!
From what it looked and felt like, the first person perspective whilst riding was not rider first person, but rather horse third person. Maybe the camera is attached to the horse rather than the rider, but I dont know enough about programming to be sure.
I am, so in love with this game. I played on first person and I absolutely loved the lessons. I personally really felt like I was riding a horse and I was actually learning. I did some riding but I had to stop and wow- It's amazing how focused I was on the lesson, as if I was really having a riding lesson! It's also so cool that the horses are really different. Like, when I reached the last lesson and rode Blaze for the first time, I immediatly felt more comfortable with her than Tati, it's amazing! Like in real life when you can feel more comfortable with a horse than another For the guidance, I have to admit that for the bus I was also lost, but to start the lessons I didn't, mostly because I played games like Life Is Strange so i'm used to inspects things even papers lol Anyway, I can't wait for the game to keep adding lessons, I want sooo much to learn more and discovers more horses :D
if you want to see a VERY VERY good example of level design done right, play the game 'Portal' with dev commentary on. ( Off first if you haven't played the game because its great, but on if you've beaten it at least once! ) They constantly talk about how each level and puzzle is structured to make sure you're looking a certain way, behaving a certain way, how every time you feel like you're escaping its planned by them, the use of light and color to direct you, ect. Oldie but goodie example of it being done very correctly! I believe the game 'Amnesia' has a similar thing, very different game of course but I remember it having a dev commentary mode too. Wish more games would do that, on games I like its fascinating to learn the thought process that went into it!
So yeah I’m very late on watching this video but I just wanted say I caught myself giving the horses voice commands while playing, I think that says something abt how realistic the riding really is😂
The only thing that I can say somewhat negatively about the game so far is something you already covered, once you understand the games mechanics (Jumping & Dressage) it becomes boring. I had the same experience with the demo once I got through the tournaments. Hopefully the dev makes the full game more interesting and actively enjoyable and not so easily overlooked after it no longer challenges the player. The early access is obviously early access so things are bound to change but so far I’m going through the same experience with the demo but with more interest since this is only half or a quarter of what the game has to offer. ❤️ Also you can manually change the date/time of your pc so the game will change its choices!
Im a person who needs to click on everything, so the opening was straight forward for me, cus the first thing i did was to read the posters. but i do like it if there was a "go here" just a little guide
I had difficulty with Tati while jumping cause, I'll see a stride and then she'll slow down two stride before the jump. Like girl please. Therefor, I love Blaze because she speeds up and I have better feeling with that (thx to Damon for that)
i do wish you would've touched on the usage of ai in the video itself, especially considering how much the developer has made thru patreon. it was an immediate turnoff for me and i imagine so for many other people
You have to remember that this game was never originally supposed to be released to the public. The developer was making it as a school project, and when enough demand rose, she decided to make it a fully fledged game, creating actual logos, textures and images for the game was never on her to do list
I have a little drama 😅 my friend was playing Tales of Rein Ravine when the power went out, now every time she takes the bus she is sent to an area that has not been released yet. And there is no option in the game to delete the save or start over, now she is stuck in a place without being able to do the lessons 😂
I will withold judgement of this game for now, given how nearly all horse games have turned out to be some type of dumpster fire I don't want to jump into this game (I know it's free) only to find out it gets abandoned or monetary components get added into the game later on
I am really really pleased to finally be able to play this game and see how realistic this is! I am very aware that games naturally have shortcomings over "the real thing" and can't possibly demonstrate riding in it's complexity but I still love how realistic riding feels and that you can do so much in dressage by introducing three aids rather than just faster/slower and left/right. However, I am a bit disappointed at the "correct dressage form" advertised here. The image on the dessage Grand Prix book is absolutely terrifying to me, there is nothing correct or good about that trot, from the head and neck position to the legs. Additionally, saying that the neck needs to be rounded in order to ride dressage on page one of the book just scares me. A horse's neck shouldn't really be round at all in dressage, the bit between the ears should be the highest point and the nose should not go behind the vertical as it's shown in the book. This is also present in the animations for the game and I am just really worried that people will think this is realistic and good riding because so many other things in the game are realistic and executed very well. But that's just my 2 Cents for the current state of the game :D
I find it really funny that the closest this game has gotten to drama (as of now, anyway) is driving people insane because the intro is way too unclear. XD
the thing is. The early access is set in the summerbreak, before the school starts. I don't think what we see is the start of the game. Like there is no story in this version. Think about it. U get to uni, what do u do? u don't go to a horse barn to get raiding lessons as the first think. U find somebody to guide u maybe u meet a friend that hint that u could tjek the board to get more info? something like that. just becurse it's is not there new doesn't mean it's is not thougt about for later. I think it's unjust the hate the game gets. If u read the release notes on steam it is 4 lines of texts ( not just 4 lines it's THE 1 ST. 4 lines) u have to read to get the info u need to not run around like a headless chicken when the game is out and the story. Then the uni is not gonna be on break anymore. Why would we get to the uni when it's on break? she is teasing the story with the info on the buildboard. the early access is summer break raiding lessons at a local barn. And before someon comes and start talking about it should be in the game, and not on steam. It's an early access u are testing the mekaniks for horse movement. Thats it. She has even said that she wants feedback on that, before she releases more at the other stable. like please take a break and let her get some content out. the canter movement thats a thing we can talk about and the thing about not walking backwards when on foot thats the things she needs to hear right now. ( sorry for the bad spelling and grammer hope it is readeble )
by the way, framing a horse does not work quite like that since there is actual core muscle buidling to be done before a frame is reached - horse trainer
Even though Im a bit disappointed in the gait animations (IMO the gaits in the demo look better) and the graphics are a bit crispy I genuinely love this game. When Im not in the mood for hard combat/action games I can just start this up and have a chill lesson. Also for turning you can also use ONLY leg aids. Like if you don't tug with the reins + leg but just use leg the horse still responds to that aswell!
As much as I find it annoying right now aswell, its my opinion that the frustration of horse rental is going to have a big payoff at some point in the story (in the form of maybe the possibility of us leasing or buying a horse and so being able to ride wherever whenever). Everything else Im mostly super pleased with!
I do really feel like the dev is on the right track! But there's clearly A LOT more work that needs to be put into the game. Since it's called "Tales" I'm assuming that there will be some kind of story mode added. There also need to be better instructions for how to do the dressage moves. As someone with very bad memory retention I constantly need to pause the game, go into the book and look at the move sets and then go back and after like 5 times of doing this it gets a bit annoying. You can apparently set up a show jumping course. I have yet found out how to do this and there's hardly any directions on where to do it in the game world. I don't know if this is the dev's intention either but I almost get the feeling that you're supposed to be able to actually go to this school and have other subjects too as well as be able to explore the world. I don't know what the true scope of the game is. If it's just going to be what we've got atm I'd feel a little sad to be honest.
my only complaint is that in my experience, you literally can't play the game without a mouse. i was trying to play on my laptop with my trackpad and since i couldn't left click while holding right click to focus, i couldn't even read the signs and therefore can't progress. but i guess this is an extra push for me to finally buy a mouse lmao
Tbh I wanna do my own horse game soneday xD (even tough i feel like i'm way too late now that this game exists xD) But well still great that it exists xD
The animations definitely need some tweaking but that can happen with time, the animations are quite workable for now. I am stories by how much the animation/ style has changed since the demo. I haven't followed the dev so maybe something happened to r require the change but if def seems different.
I'd really like to play this game but I can't hold both left click and right click at the same time on my laptop... Hoping for different control schemes or key mapping soon 🙏
I have hope for this game, I look forward to seeing more. But the dev going dead silence right on when they promised the release of early access shattered a lot of peoples trust. It’s never a good look for a dev to just disappear when the game is funded by the players themselves. And I hate how unforgiving it is. I made one mistake and I have to redo it? Come on. It has to be a little more forgiving especially at the start where we’re still learning the controls. Why do I have to do it off again because I was off on my timing my halt by a smidge? Not going to lie when I first saw the canter I burst out laughing.
I've tried the game after watching your video and without you mentioning it I would never have managed to even get the bus stop working. I didn't realize there are different options when focussing on an object, just didn't see it. The lessons were quite fun to do, except for the last one with the starting and stopping. And having to do it all over when making one mistake. After that it got boring unfortunately. It seems to me this game is going to be more of a riding simulator which is not what I expected and isn't relaxing to me. Constantly checking for collection and nothing much to do besides riding around for myself, no goals or story or anything. I couldn't try jumping but I suppose I won't like that either. Pole training was not much fun, there was no explanation what to do exactly. I know there are the guide books but honestly I don't like having to read the instructions, remember them and then try to get them to work. The explanations in the book weren't too clear, either. So, sadly, if this type of gameplay is the focus of the game it is not for me.
A drama free game sound like a fever dream... i am to used to rattle drama horse game bingo card per game. the game dev would certainly love your input in the non riding part the game cuze i would walk my way off the map **cue spinell song from the steven universe movie for jokes for the who am i line**
I was actually a bit disappointed by ToRR. I don't think it's the developer's fault, I think it's just not for me. No character creation, no unique horses, no horse care etc. I really enjoy roleplay, I love having unique horses that I can care for, ride and sometimes breed. I love buying, training and selling. There's none of that in ToRR. I also found the controls to be quite frustrating. I feel like it's unnecessarily hard especially for the dressage, I bet competitions for both jumping and dressage are gonna be a nightmare. I got the game cos it was free, played about an hour and a half and got bored. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shot, but I feel like it's just not for me. I'll stick to Ranch of Rivershine!
9:29 I cant lie this part definitely takes time but its ALSO very realistic for me because my instructor irl does this to me. I have to finish the exercise and if i mess up i still have to finish then do it AGAIN.😭
No, I didn't. Go watch my two vids on it again: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_IoUyo8RTrA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ntBmRBVJzt0.html
The opening sequence having no guidance at all is a major turn off for me. If i can't figure it out in 5 minutes or less, I'm out. I think it's like going to a restaurant but no one gives you a menu or no one guides you to a seat. Sure, you understand the purpose of a restaurant and what to do even when no one is directly helping you. But imagine if that restaurant was in a while different country and in a different language. You feel helpless. That's exactly what's happening here; youre plopped into a brand new world and expected to fumble around until you figure it out. It should just be a little smoother than that. Also. The reason why the dismounted character animations are so weird is because the legs and arms on each side of the body are moving at the same time: right arm-right leg, left arm-left leg. SSO used to have this problem and it makes the animations feel unbalanced, becsuse it is
Additional context: I'm the kind of person who sometimes needs a little extra hand holding in games, sometimes I need stuff explained to me like I'm 5. Plus also, I want to feel a sense of accomplishment and progress within my first few minutes of joining the experience. I respect the gamers who had to kind of brute force their way through figuring things out, but this is also a day and age where reading, researching, and problems solving skills are just not developing the same way as they used to. Attention spans are critical
I don't like it. It's unnecessarily complicated and a typical competition-focused horse game with no originality. Not to mention some coercive tack and animations...
It’s early access and probably only a quarter or half of the actual game. I respect your opinion and if you find any horse game that fits your standards, recommend me some! ❤️
I feel like the only horse game fan who's looked at this game and actually hates it? I can't speak to gameplay because I haven't downloaded it and I'm not going to. I think the horse models need work, the textures are ugly, the horse amd rider animations are atrocious. Worst of all they just don't fit the world. Everything in the environment around you has a cartoony quality to it, while they tried for realism on the horse and rider. They missed, in my opinion, leaving me with an uncanny, shuddery feeling when I look at them.
The visuals aren't the best but why judge a game on graphics over gameplay? Looks a lot better than a lot of horse games tbh. Realism isn't always the best imo
I don't fully agree, but I do feel similarly in some aspects. I feel the gait animations are as if the horse is pedaling a bike at the walk. I feel like the models are passable as horses, but I prefer models of Star Stable or Red Dead (don't play Red Dead, just seen the horses). I really dislike the tails, but those are a challenge for every horse game just due to how complex hair physics is. I do like the tack models of the game though, and the trot animation is decent. So for me I'm kinda just iffy on different aspects of the horse
Many of you seem to misunderstand what I tried to say. I don't care that the world is cartoonish. I've put hundreds of hours into Ranch of Rivershine. I care that they tried to make the horse and rider realistic and failed. The closer you try for realism, the more you have to get it right. Something about them gives me the creeps. That's not a feeling I play cozy games for.
This game looks awesome, and I can tell this person has put lots of work into it. However, I don't think it will be a Star Stable competitor, simply because this game only appeals to equestrians. It seems complicated and (personally) tiresome for me to play because I am not interested in the position of my horse's head, but the feeling of exploring lands and galloping through fields. This is FANTASTIC for someone who might want to replicate the feeling of dressage or show jumping in the arena, but I think I, and perhaps some other players who feel the same, will likely not be interested in this game. But, obviously, my niche wants are not what this developer was going for. I mention this only because personally, I am looking for a Star Stable competitor so I don't feel like I'm getting scammed while playing a horse game lol. Fantastic game though and I am excited to see more!
StarStable for many years has been the source of entertainment for equestrians who enjoy riding and want to experience it from their home. Now TORR is coming out and has accurate representation of riding, it’ll definitely get more attention since let’s face it, SSO can be easily forgotten about by newer generations. SSO is not the same genre of game as TORR (as the other comment stated) so they won’t have any correlations besides ✨horse riding✨
@@Myra_EvergreenEquestrian Yep! I agree and am aware it’s not an mmo lol, I was just writing down my personal wants, but as I said, my niche isn’t what the developer was going for. I hope for a sso competitor in the future! Happy riding 🤗
