Fascinating how non-english native speakers face additional challenges in Obra Dinn with the accents. If you were British, you could probably tell english, scottish, irish and american accents apart. Also if you're not familiar with British naming conventions you have a little problem figuring out the relationsship between the Captain, the First Mate and Abigail. Meanwhile having her name as Abigail Hoscut Witterel is actually a clue, because it tells us Hoscut was her maiden name (which she would share with her brother. Leading to at least 3 people identified in The End and all tutorials triggered. Game design!

I wish less death dialogue was skipped in this supercut. Lines such as "a curse like that... does not lift for nothing" are so important to the game.

Olivers playthrough is very enjoyable to me because he seems quite observant and methodical - good choice for a supercut :)

What the heck, I was literally just looking at Oliver's return of the obra dinn playthrough the other day wishing there was a highlights version. You're a god sent!

I know there's an achievement by blaming all the deaths on the Capitan, but really, most of it can be blamed on Nichols. Before he decided to be stupid, there were only a couple deaths from accidents and illness. By trying to steal the treasure twice and then bringing back the mermaids after the failed kidnapping, Nichols set the entire tragedy into motion and called the monsters to the ship.

I died inside when he marked the fuy wearing a fez hat as "Russian". I still don't get why he didn't connect the dots and relize that the people speaking Russian were the ones playing the poker game at a table. Especially since he correctly identified one of those players as Russian.

After finishing this game I was enticed to watch as many other people play it for reactions. I've seen a lot at this point, and I swear, this is the only one that shared my complete discomfort of the entire "Soldiers of the Sea" chapter. Spiders make me super uncomfortable, and I tried the whole game to tell myself: "they're not spiders, they're crabs with demonic beings steering them". Didn't work. Of course, one of the memories just has to leave a massive silhouette of one of the crabs on the gun deck the whole game, and there's even one of the physical crabs they tie up and keep in one of the lowest floors. Legit got a soul-excavating jumpscare opening that door. I'm used to them at this point, but man, those things are absolutely cursed. I'd be screaming like a child as well in real life.

I'm 25 minutes in and I don't think he realised he can scan people in the memories aaaaah Edit: yay finally 38 minutes into the video. I wonder how many real hours that was for him. Also "señor, is that a French term" took me by surprise 😂

"It's done for X person" is an old and completely nonsensical way of saying that a person "has been done in," as in they have been finished from their time on Earth, I. E. killed, with an extra 'in' for emphasis. English is a disaster, but be comforted by the fact it used it be much worse.

Finally got around to playing this myself, which means I could come back and watch this! Great cut as always.

I find it irritating myself but the game forcing him to keep moving through scenes is maybe the only way this playthrough would be tolerable. Otherwise i know he'd spend an hour on every scene trying to solve everything right away without any information lol
