I could watch this interview a million times. I'm so hypnotized by his mind and the way he thinks, the music, his look, everything is gold. Thank you for putting this interview together! Such a pleasure to watch.
Goolsby is such a nice guy too, hes just an all around awesome person. My favorite song has to be mary and the storm, it really hits a personal level because a lot of the lyrics i can relate to. I went through the same thing he did with my gf's family not really liking me.
Outstanding record thank u for the vid. Favorite song from Argyle..everything he has done solo honestly. Blitzkid wise id say head over hills is my top.
My favorite song written by Goolsby is Jane Doe #9. I booked blitzkid on their farewell tour and got to speak with him in particular about the song given how the lyrics felt almost as though a premonition of an on again off again lover was on the same path as the female in the song, then to learn from him in detail the grisly details....in a way comforted me to know in wasnt the only one to ever gone through this yet do my best to prevent the tragedy of my friend to become another jane doe.
So my relationship with Gools goes back a good many years. One of the songs that really hits home for me, and believe me there are quite a few, would be Starlite Decay. This song has sentimental reasons due to meeting one of my ex's while with Gools and her singing that song to me. I think that was the last Sudsy Malones show in Cinci. The lyrics really embodied our Ohio/KY/WV scene back in the day. A bunch of Graveyard Greasers out to watch b-movies and get laid. So this is easily one of my favorite songs by the man. A close second is Baskerville, though.
It is not an Argyle Goolsby song (cause it is from 1476) but he wrote it and sang it. Hernes Oak. So sad they never let video footage of their shows and his collaboration with the band was just one lp.
My favorite would have to be Ghost Light Waltz. The melody is enchanting, it's one of those tunes that transports you to a different place in time. Makes you feel like you were somewhere from your past. Takes me back to being 15 hanging out with my girlfriend in this old abandoned cemetery in the middle of the night just being in love. Being a horror punk kid from the country in the Midwest wasn't easy but having someone by your side who was also like that made it nice. I've always felt a connection to Argyle going back to the Blitzkid days (who weren't far from my neck of the woods), he's got a way of always tapping into your emotions with either his relatable lyrics or his melodies.
I would say with Blitzkid my favorite is Terror in the Haunted house because it's a really fun and well written in my opinion, Goolsby on his own is also Mister Babadook also for similar reasons.
Baskerville because my son is a huge fan and would just sing and play his guitar all the time. He's 4 and can tell you who he is with or without his make up🤣
