George Reeves was (and always be) Superman for those of us who grew up with him on early television. He had a presence that inspired so many young people to emulate the larger than life hero he portrayed.
Yeah some people feel that way that the character was there's like some people think that because some people think that they own actress think that they own the character but actually the character is under license so they are not legally I mean look at what happened to Clayton Moore The lone ranger and another reason why it's easy to feel that way is because you don't really know them from doing any any other characters
When I first heard about this, I thought, Hey George was murdered...you can tell these panelists are true professionals and Ms. Lemmon was something else.
Three true experts on Superman/George Reeves: great memorabilia and artifacts from the TV series, and the most plausible explanation of Mr. Reeves' untimely and tragic death. If only he could have lived to experience the love and adulation all those kids like myself would have show him when we grew up and realized what he meant to us. Thank you for this rare and fascinating old cable talk show episode.
DanTDrac me too Dan it was so obvious. I have heard about Toni being the one but Lenore was my pick. Poor George I still love the show and still watch it. Cops were bought off. But I heard it happened a lot in those days.
Lenore looked horrible in her last days and poor. She weighed about 300 a reporter was interviewing her, no teeth she was drunk and could barely talk. He was going back to Toni was why she killed him.
@@christineporter7562 I heard/read that when Eddie Mannix found out that George had dumped Toni he put the hit out on him. He was aware of their affair and was OK with it because he had a mistress that kept him happy.
HIGH 5 ....I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels George Reeves death was a murder....it made no sense to me why he would commit suicide when things were starting to look better.....thank you for airing this, this makes more sense than what I had heard about in the late 50's as a teenager....I remember what he did for the kids of my day.
The Superman costume that George Reeves wore especially during the first season looked more real than any other costume worn by any other Superman. This is because it looked more simple. It looked liked something old Mother Martha Kent would have somehow sewn together. The episode "Superman on Earth" always makes me cry because Martha Kent was so heart warming and sweet. Her good-by scene breaks my heart everytime I see it!
I agree. Did you ever notice? Her name wasn't "Martha" in the TV Show. I believe it was "Sarah". "Jonathan" had the name, "Eben". I never understood that.
@@Lee-Darin Eben and Sarah had been the Kents' names since the 1943 Superman novel by George Lowther, snd were the names used in the radio show and Kirk Alyn serials. Jonathan and Martha became the permanent names after the TV show ended.
I have to say I really enjoyed this video of the interview with everyone involved in the project here. It’s something I have never seen before when it aired whenever years ago is was happening in all our lives back then so much information I never knew and that I did know already. Mr. Hambrick looking just as I remember meeting you years ago in this video. Unfortunately none of us will ever look like we were back then. But we are still alive and moving forward in life. Right? That’s how I feel about being old now. Don’t you? You have done so much with your life i and the world thanks you for being who you are to this day. Kudos to you and your family members for keeping he’s name alive and well over the many years you have been doing so. Mr. Hambrick 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💯 P.S. May you and your friends and family members have and enjoy a wonderful thanksgiving together or apart wherever you all maybe. Sir. Much respect to you and your team and your family members and friends in Metropolis as well. 👍🏼💯 KentOut!💯
I met Noel Neill on March 15, 2008 at a Celebrity Event in Rosemont, IL and talked with her, had photos taken of me with her and I asked her if George Reeves committed suicide and she said, "No."
I did an interview with Chuck years ago an also assisted Jan Alan Henderson on the Crypt 39 book from the aspect of a real law enforcement investigation. I am former law enforcement at the state, local and federal background. I grew up with George Reeves as Superman
Surprisingly enough, I learned something entirely and shockingly new watching this vid. I was never aware that Lennore Lemon’s Attorney, just after this shooting, was our Baltimore Orioles former owner, Edward Bennett Williams. He’s the owner who’s threat to move the Orioles to D.C. resulted in the city finally breaking down and giving in to build Camden Yards. He represented many high-profile clients, including Sam Giancana, John Hinckley, Jr., Frank Sinatra, former Governor of Texas & Secretary of Treasury John B. Connally, Jr., financier Robert Vesco, Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner, spy Igor Melekh, Jimmy Hoffa, organized crime figure Frank Costello, oil commodity trader Marc Rich, U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy. Apparently, Williams was just the right scumbag lawyer to get her to walk away clean, even if she indeed did murder George Reeves herself!
the superman bio i read said he was in love with leonore and toni mannix, driven crazy by jealousy, hired a killer known to her mob husband (but not hired by him) to kill george-and so he did
This is incredible! A decades-old local cable access show-couldn't get more obscure--that's what you tube is all about. Fascinating stuff. Apparently from Long Beach, CA-what year did this air?
They say the film was sent to Australia because they didn't have the TV show. That was not correct as I saw the film as a kid in Australia at the cinema because I loved the TV show. In fact I was hoping it was a new story and was slightly disappointed to find it was three episodes together.
is that well filmed first season here somewhere? also-it's bob crane's movies i'd like to see! finally--a series of lie detectors and good detective interviews like on first 48 would've solved this quickly
In 1999 EDWARD LOZZI went on TV and said he was with Toni Mannix on her death bed as she confessed to a priest her part in having George Reeves murdered. Look the guy up he was on the White House press staff at one time and has a very good reputation. He was warned by the priest to say nothing but finally came forward. This fact just gets totally ignored. I still think Lenore Lemon had a hand in it too but Toni confessed as she was dying.
According to Jim Hambrick, Leonore Lemmon confessed to the killing in a phone interview he had with her some years back. (Apparently her tone was very dismissive and shameless.) So it's impossible to know who's telling the truth and who isn't. But you're not the only one who took Mannix at her word. Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, authors of the semi-fictional account *Hollywood Kryptonite,* think Mannix was one responsible as well. There are so many possible suspects in this case that anything is on the table.
I'm definitely calling bullshit on that. The Christopher Reeve Movies flying scenes were much better than the 51 TV series. During the series someone wasn't doing their job with the wires and George Reeves fell and told the producers no more wires. The Christopher Reeve movies had better technology to where he could spin a complete 360° while flying. The difference between the series and the movies was the movies literally made you believe that a man could fly.
I'm also calling bullshit on George Reeves committing suicide. He was definitely murdered. It's very possible that Toni Mannix had Reeves murdered because he left Toni Mannix for Lenore Lemmon.
I believe that Reeves was going to break off the wedding between him and Lenore Lemmon and end the relationship with Lemmon. You have two women who have a motive for murder. He should have stayed with Toni Mannix.
Yea definitely sounds like this crazy lenore bitter lemon cow done him in .he had too much too live for and superman series was coming back with increased salary. And he didnt look like the suicide type
The comment saying that the ejected shell should have gone up and in front of the body isn't accurate. When sitting on the bed holding a handgun to commit suicide, the victim doesn't hold the gun upright.....they hold the weapon mostly upside down which would put the ejection of the shell....DOWN & TO THE REAR.....leaving the shell to land EXACTLY where this shell ended up.
George reeves superman police officers did not take finger prints on his night table next to his bed were he kept the gun to have opened up to take it out
I just don't get why does Superman have to have an alter ego😊 I think that's how lex luthor got the best of him I mean I would have thought he was supposed to be super-smart also 🤔
If he did commit suicide it wasn’t because of Superman. It was because of Hollywood. They treated him so unfairly and made his life very difficult. The guy lived to act and perform and loved it and because he was so loved because he played Superman they wouldn’t cast him in anything else because he was so loved for playing Superman. It’s so sad and unfair what they did to him
He died because he was supposed to die. Whether it was a suicide or murder. His time to go. Either way it was all the work of the HIGHER POWER. WE ARE PUPPETS. If you don't believe me, you aren't SUPPOSED to believe me. Look at LINCOLN/KENNEDY. You think those were all RANDOM COINCIDENCES. I don't. They are signs that those assassinations were orchestrated by something above us. Any time you got a WOW, WHAT A COINCIDENCE, you were really getting a sign. WTC attack happened on that date because of 911 on telephone.
Someone who worked with George Reeves and who knew him well, Jack Larson (Jimmy Olsen), said that George shot himself. Jack seemed confident that that was the case. I accept Jack's view, but I know that people are disappointed to think that an actor whom they admired would kill himself, so they prefer to think otherwise.
I agree with Mike Pinc. George was perfect for the role. The last 2 or 3 years the writers of the tv show lost their mojo. George never did lose his integrity as an actor even though he had ever worse scripts to work from.
