Mary louise has perhaps more charitable causes than almost any celeb in Hollywood. She actively supports Hope North's kidnapped Ugandan children, soldiers with PTSD with her bud Tom Hanks, musicians with cancer, LGBT rights, kid's reading programs, animal rights, etc.etc.etc. She has won award after award for her charitable work but hardly anyone knows it...because she never tells anyone as she doesn't do it for the credit, but because she has the biggest heart. Her kids come first, then her causes and her acting career is a distant third.
