One thing to do is to ask your future mother in law if there is a custom or request that she would be very disappointed not to see at her son's wedding. You may decide not to incorporate but if it is simple then why not and you have a happy mother in law..

In Denmark you wear your engagement ring on your left ring finger and when your married, you wear the ring on your right ring finger. During the reception; 1. Everytime the bride leaves the room, every woman runs up to the groom and kiss him (usually on the cheek) and runs back in line for another turn, until the bride returns. Same thing happens when the groom leaves and every man runs uo to kiss the bride. 2. Before midnight, the couple will dance to a piece called Brudevalsen (the wedding waltz). Guests will form a circle around the couple and step closer while clapping until the music stops and the couple kiss. 3. After dancing the Brudevals, all the men will grab the groom and cut the tips of his socks ( to prevent him from wooing other women). All the women will cut a piece of the brides weil - every piece cut of, means more happiness to the couple and the guest brings a piece home (it brings good luck) 4. While many have adopted the american tradition of having a wedding cake, many still have a overflødighedshorn (danish marzipan ring cake with icing shaped like a cornucopia with filled chocolate and marzipan pieces inside it).
@Miateut

I think you should Do the - qua?- the red tradicional dress ! They are beautiful. I want one!!! .. in Mexico weddings are crazy fun no joke. The music band is over the top everyone has so much fun and they finish @ 6am. Of course the older people leave earlier. The tradicional part is church first (mostly catholic) and then PARTY! In the church part there is other tradicions. Like the bucket the bride & and groom once they are married go to the Virgen (mother of crist) altar and the bride place it and say a prayer. That part is very beautiful and always emotional.

Russian weddings are kind of a mix between western and asian weddings I think! Of course we don’t do the tea ceremony and we don’t have all this gold jewellery, but we do a lot of games/shows/jokes, we ask members of the family who can’t come to the wedding to film a very short video of them wishing the couple the best wedding and then we edit it all in a video to show at the wedding, we also have a dance floor, and usually, it didn’t happen at all the Russian weddings I’ve been to but I think it lasts 2 days, the first day we do the ceremony where the bride is all in white etc, and the second it’s just a day where we’re still well dressed but not as much as the day before😌 Oh also! The couples who come at the wedding (my parents for example) have to be both dressed in the same colour, so we can recognise the different couples, and I’ve just remembered that at the wedding, if anyone yells « GORKA » (which kinda means « hot » ahaha) and is able to have everyone yelling it too, the bride and the groom have to kiss in front of everyone during 10 seconds😂 and it can happen ANYTIME at the wedding, which can lead to funny situations😂

That bride price doesn’t work in most of AMWF relationships I know - my cheap ass husband was even telling me one night how happy he is that he saved so much money since he didn’t need to bother with this custom 😂 I know he said it as a joke but I also know him well enough to know that he indeed is happy 😂 and at the end it balances off with all the traveling money you spend to visit both families so I guess that wasn’t his best investment 😂

Taylor, I’m loving all this content about weddings as well as the information provided. We are currently planning ours, I’m Peruvian/Italian he is American, trying to incorporate all 3 cultures can be a little frustrating at times but so far we have managed to find a nice middle ground. For example we are having a photo booth and having traditional Peruvian accessories for props (hats, llamas, etc). Also a mix of cultures in the food, the appetizers from Peru, the wine from Italy and dinner will be a more traditional American style. We also wanted to add a little bit of the both of us into the ceremony so we are thinking about hiring a stings duo to play songs from our biggest fandoms like Harry Potter, LOTR and Star Wars. Sorry, this ended up being longer that I thought it would be. I hope you find the perfect middle ground. keep up the amazing work!! sending love from Italy!!

I’m Turkish and Chinese wedding traditions are so so similar to us! The groom takes the bride from home, the night before and in the morning bride gets ready with her friends and mom, the groom gives presents to brides family (and groom’s mom gives clothes etc. to bride), the bride wears gold and more gold means more wealth&showing off, they wear a red and gold outfit that is so similar for “kına gecesi” (we have some applying henna tradition/ceremony for bride). It’s really interesting to see we still have that much similarity with Chinese culture. But I won’t do a traditional wedding for myself, I want to keep it really simple, with less people and relaxing.

You can get Kua (or say LongFengGua (龙凤褂;DragonPhoenix Gown) on many Taobao or tmall online shops. They are elegant and affordable. I got mine and my husband's there and we changed to Chinese gowns when we did the Grand Entrance. Both of our Chinese and Western guests were amazed.

You look so lovely in the traditional chinese dress! My husband and I are both american but we had a lot of U.K. inspiration in our wedding. My engagement ring which is also my wedding ring is a claddagh. It has different meanings depending on how you wear it. We had a bagpiper for the ceremony, tea and shortbread before the meal and we had an irish band with contra dancing for our reception. We also set a time period and our wedding party, parents and guests wore medieval attire. :)

I think that if it’s financially possible and you can do both then do both! You only live once and life’s short. But weddings can be work if it’s not something your used to doing but I think you won’t have any problem with your diy skills 😄I’m so excited, just go with your heart, it’s your day! You do what you want!

Wedding ring traditions are really cool. I'm first generation Polish American, and my grandma told me that the engagement ring is typically worn on the right hand and the wedding band on the left. My band was made by a family friend and doesn't fit on my finger with my engagement ring, so I'm super glad that tradition exists XD

Great to learn about others traditions. Do Tom’s parents have any preferences on what you both should do for a wedding? It would be cool to do a mixture of traditions. That Chinese gown was so beautiful on you! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Regarding the taken, single, widow thing...that’s the same in Germany and Austria when you wear Dirndl and tie your apron ...depending on where you tie your bow it means you are taken, single or widow

Hi Taylor, I'm overseas Chinese and had a semi-traditional wedding (just stuck to the more crucial traditions but cut out most of the fluff). I chose not to wear the Kua and had one dress for the entire day (more due to laziness than anything else). However, I think you looked great in the Kua and should go for it if you like it. Great vlog as usual. Keep up the good work 🤗 P/s: - Congrats on your engagement
