Talking about Old Maple while Playing Old Maple 

Back then : - 3rd job and 4th job were at lvl 70 and lvl 120 - We level up thru PQs , my favorite one been Carnival PQ - Bishops , Night Lords , and Dark Knights were the "trifecta" of old school Maple. - We did not have super flashy skills , we just have simple and straight forward skills - Our skills did not have many lines , the most lines a skill could have was Night Lord been 6 lines with Triple Throw + Shadow partner - Not all classes have a teleport or a flash jump , only Night Lord will have flash jump and mages teleport - We use the Free Market a lot and people were outside selling and spamming , only some would have stores. No auction house as it is now - We would do the lvl 36 GFA 60% quest at NLC either for personal use or to sell it and many more quest that were worth doing - We would have to use two ability stats or else you wont be able to equip - In addition to that , there were many classes that would go like "dexless sin" , "strless arche" , "Lukless mage" , and etc. that would use a Maple weapon - The pain of doing quest to get the 4th job skills , and the extra pain of finding Mastery Books that are 70% and 50% that can fail us many times :) - We only have 10 classes , and when pirates were launch with Buccaneer and Corsair , there was a total of 12 classes and that was it - Zakum and Horntail were the "two big bosses" back then before Pink Bean came , and we needed around 12-18 players together. (NO SOLO BACK THEN) - Items only needed to be scroll and that was it. Now there is things like Cubing , bonus cubing , star forcing. (Well Reboot only Star forcing and cubing) - If I recall correctly , your first ever main was a Bowmaster , then you switch to Night Lord , then switch to Wind Archer , then have a short one with Pathfinder , and eventually coming back to your roots again ! - Also you're looking for Headless Horseman boss it drops the Jack o Lantern , an item for the Silver Deputy quest - Lastly , the strafe skill , I think you will do 14k-15k per line :D

Dude, maplestory was my whole childhood, everytime i watch videos about this game tears start falling. Seriously. It makes me remember all those innocent times i didnt have to worry about anything. Literally just have fun with my friends. Which are all gone now :(

I like how back in the day people made private servers to make the game easier so everyone can level up and get all the neat skills so they can PERFORM the way they wanted to. But even in those private servers, because less attention was needed to grinding the sense of community was there. Now people make private servers to make the game harder

Peak Maple to me was right before Big Bang update. I loved it. When they introduced cubing to the game, the idea of basically a built in damage cap raise was huge. Super fun to chase those stats. But that was the beginning of how power creep killed the essence of maple.

I've always enjoyed watching old school maple videos for the nostalgia. I hope someday Nexon introduces an old-school server. GMS these days feels more like a chore than a game, dailies and bossing for the sake of increasing damage. Miss all the friends I made in Windia from 06-09.

I swear man, why do people have to act like old-school and current maple couldn't exist at the same time. Everyone acts like it's pick one or the other, but I love both of them. Give us old-school server, you could even tie it in with current GMS. Let your main add to legion or something... people guaranteed would play. Old-school is basically the only reason why private servers still exist. Edit: Also equipment progression in old-school is my favorite by far. I hate that for me to get one piece of gear it needs scrolls,cubes,flames,stars, AND b-pot. Bring me back to just scrolling for a while.. please...

Old maple was definitely partying up with a higher lvl thief to get the haste buff just to run around kerning city for hours 😭simpler times childhood memories

it baffles me that nexon still hasn't released a maplestory classic yet. there's so much money there that they just refuse to touch for years also a side note: big bang did not kill maple, tempest killed maple

I started playing Maplestory when I was 12, pretty much as soon as Big Bang was released. I never got to experience this real oldschool maplestory but I still feel such a large difference. One of the things I miss the most is the sense of exploration I felt as a noob. I gravitated towards thief class and used the skill that makes you invulnerable as long as you don't attack. I would go places that I definitely shouldnt have been in as a level 30 or so, checking out the really cool monster designs and locations. ( I thought ludi and leafre were the coolest places in the world! ) I probably spent more time just looking around the world and chatting with friends in henesys than I did leveling up. Also very fun to take the ships everywhere!

I remember being a luckless Bishop back in the days. I just barely had enough luck to wear most of my armor that when my Maple Warrior would run out i would lose most of my armor. Since my character did not have NX clothing My character would be left with only its underwear when Maple Warrior ran out. But yes, definitely Old school Maple Story was a lot better in my opinion. Even if I started to play this server again it wouldn't be the same because all the friends I had back in the day are gone.

I miss the old school MS. where there used to be just four classes. PQs were all the rage and guilds were full of friendly people. Now people just grind and that’s it. Trading and Free Market economy is ignored because of the new server -_-

My form of "old school Maple" would be before 20k crits were even a potential number. Lol. Back when hitting 3k was incredible. If you had a +8 attack or higher White Glove, you were unstoppable.

I remember when Phantom Forest was relatively new and I ran into Big Foot. I was on my level 60-ish assassin and had gotten lost in the forest. I was just trying to find my way back for some time when I suddenly ran into him. I just wanted to run past him and it missed me; I had no idea what that thing was so I didn't really think much of it. I can't remember how exactly but fairly soon after I found out what it was and how lucky I got, lol. I've got some very fond memories of this game and while it's been a very long time since I played I will always remember it as a good, peaceful, more innocent time in my life. From time to time, I feel the urge to look up videos like these and I expect that to happen for a whole lot longer. It's nice to see a lot of people feel the same way.

Am I nostalgic for old school MS? Yes, 1000%. The game made up so much of my childhood and I have tons of memories from the game, both good and bad. Would I play old school MS today, official or not? Ehh can't really say I would. There's so much about old school MS that was fine when I was a kid but would be a pain now that I'm an adult with more responsibilities and less free time. Also HP washing will always leave a sour taste in my mouth. That being said I do play modern MS quite a bit, although pretty casually. Who knows, maybe I'd have more fun casually playing old school MS than modern MS. Modern MS does have its own huge time sinks after all. Wish they'd release legacy servers though.

I loved the game pre big bag. But I gotta say I'm having a lot of fun with it right now. I think the game is in a better state now than what it has been for the last 10 years ish. The destiny update great.

30-40k im guessing. I was so young when i started playing I never knew what good damage was so im hoping thats about right. don't even think I made it past level 40 on old school since I was clueless but definately one of the best times of my life.

Anyone else waiting for Maple Worlds? It will probably be the last time we get a packed old school server. Every pserver nowadays is all end game focused or have 0 population if they are truly 1x.

Obviously both current MS and oldschool MS have positives and negatives. I'm too invested in my guild on Bera to switch (and I would argue that playing in an active guild is the only way to enjoy playing current MS) but watching pre big bang gameplay style is definitely nostalgic x1000. I didn't even try to guess the damage. But glad to see you back on the grind :P

my problem with new maple is that the upgrade curve is so insane at around 1 mil damage range and managing all your characters and all sorts of different shit, tbh i started playing old maple because its a lot more simple

My guess was really close. I was thinking 4k non crit and about 15k with crit. I made a Marksman on another server similar to this but I stopped playing as soon as I got a new laptop

Reboot server as a returning player aftr years not playing feels closest to pre bigbang maple imo. Solo progresion is super fun and everything is earned. Community is awesome and guilds r very active, pqs and harder bosses with groups is up there too.
