The way I look at it, Merle could be one of Negan´s most important guys, he wouldn´t have a problem with being savior. But the moment Negan hurts his little brother, Merle will shut that shit down.
I feel like Merle could have redeemed himself a bit through doing that and by season 11 he might have had a redemption arc, he definitely wouldn't be as developed as Daryl eventually became but he'd be better, I feel like he would have been a slightly softer person around Judith
Imagine him disappearing in season 1 like he did, and coming back in season 7 as Negan's right hand man instead of Simon. Now that would be one hell of a comeback, even greater then when Morales came back. Seasons 7 and 8 would be one of the best then 100%
It depends if negan did anything to Daryl because merle is like daryls guardian angel if anyone does anything bad to his brother they are instantly an enemy towards Merle so if negan took Daryl like he does in season 7 episode 1 negan would instantly be Merles enemy If negan and Meryl Merle were to fight I do think that negan would win because Merle is more of a long-distance shooter while negan likes to get up close and personal even though Merle is my favourite character I do think negan would win unless it's happening from Far Away it would be cool to see Merle chop right through Lucille with his arm that would be amazing p.s. this took 30 minutes to write so please give it a like
Look at his reaction with the governor if Merle decides to go after Negan he could take down more than half of them then Negan is next god forbid a pissed off Merle gets ahold of Negan
I wish in season 7 we got a scene where Daryl, as a prisoner in the sanctuary, sees Merle’s ghost in his cell and Merle tries to convince him to regain his strength and fight back.
I think the most realistic way is kinda what Negan eventually does to Alpha. Merle, regardless of whether or not he was taken by the saviors in Daryl's place or not, would find a way to talk with Negan and really get to know him. He could probably eventually gain Negan's trust and thats when Merle would kill Negan. If not for the whole group, which at this time he probably would've had a closer bond with Rick, Daryl, and the group throughout seasons 4-7, then it would've definitely been for threatening his baby brother, Daryl.
Merle is my favourite. 😎 I think he and Negan would have pissed each other off soon enough to become enemies, and I also believe that Merle would have been able to kill him.
