My late grandma is the same as well. When my mom was still in her teens, grandma is known to play video game consoles like a teen who would even stay up too late at night just to complete the game. That didn't changed even I was already in my teens and she's really really hard to beat. Her daughter bought consoles and video games for her mainly.

I absolutely love the art-style of the Disgaea series. It's RARE of me, to pick up a game off the shelf in a store without knowing about it, but when I saw Laharl on the cover I took a look. Saw ETNA on the back and I absolutely adored her design, with the large, spiky magenta hair-style. I still have her on a slide-show wallpaper on my PC desktop, posing with her Elder Spear. Such a cool character. I really love Disgaea 2 too!! I could never get myself to go for 100% completion, because the *Worst Ending* scares me too much. 😅
So, I've never played Disgaea in all my 37 years of gaming. I really appreciate your enthusiasm and will be giving this game a shot for the first time. Thank you for being so thorough. I look forward to it.

I loved this video! I'm also a huge Disgaea fan and Disgaea 2 is my favourite because of Rozalin! I love her smug attitude and how she eventually grows to care! And everything else about her that I don't want to say in the comments because I don't want to spoil anyone... but she's the greatest! I wish they'd put this game on the switch, too!
Did you get the worst ending where Rozalin dies at the end it very sad when I've unlock the worst ending. Adell kills everyone after rozalin dies he's gets possessed by the true overlord zenon.

I am so confused. A channel called Food4Dogs, with a Mister Rogers like woman speaking to people about Video Games. Of all the strange things to happen in 2020 finding this channel is a fitting surprise, but unlike most this year, a very welcome one.
I only know one other person that feels the same way about Disgaea 2 as I do so finding you has been an absolute treat. A lot of characters in the later Disgaea entries feel like retreads of Adell and Rozalin. Love your videos and I'm definitely subscribing for more!

My dad is 60 years old and still enjoying his PS3. I need to get him a PS4 though so he can play some of the current games. Me, at 49 still playing games, and Disgaea is one of my favorites. I first played Disgaea 1 on the PS2 back in 2005 and as much as I enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre on the Gameboy Advance, the characters, the humor and the team attacks is what drew me in the Disgaea universe. I currently have Disgaea 1 and 2 for the PS3 and PSP, as well as 3,4,and D2 for the PS3 and I just recently picked up Disgaea 5 for the PS4.
Super cute, adorable video full of love for my favorite series of all time. Those old DoubleJump Guides were amazing and the upside-down secrets section was such a brilliant idea. Here's to hoping for more entries in the series and even one day a Disgaea 2 complete+.
Disgaea defined my childhood and teenage years growing up. It's nice to see others expressing their enjoyment of the series. Honestly thought most fans would be people in their 20's like my age or even younger so it's cool to see other demographics like it. And yes I really hope they bring out a remake of Disgaea 2 and 3 eventually or they even bring out a compilation bundle with all 5 of the main games together in the future.
@@lordvalvatorez5386 I think it's simply a drought since it's been 5 years since the last entry. So we simply move on to other games until a new one comes out. And considering I've been on a Disgaea mood ever since the new teaser was shown earlier this week, I think it's fair to say that the Disgaea community will be re-awakened when 6 finally lands. I share the sentiments with all the other comments about this video being heartwarming -- and it's also so thoughtful! It's great that you smoothly transition between talking points so well, it made the video very easy to watch. Truthfully, I have only played a little bit of the first Disgaea before getting torn away for some reason. I have multiple titles sitting in my Steam library, and now that I have seen this video I am thinking of giving the series another go.
Wow! Someone else who has trouble seeing everything well on the portable systems! I love playing these games on the big screen, and that's how I'd been used to playing them since the first game came out, but had also enjoyed quite a bit of it for PSP, and eventually Disgaea 4 on Vita all those years later. Now that my eyesight has turned to crap, I'm back to console playing, but for the quality of the backgrounds and the full sound of the music, it's so much more immersive that way! I'm 46, btw, and am so happy to see that there's someone older than me who plays this and many other series I like, too! :) Rock on!!!
I've had to wear glasses all my life, but nothing problematic. Now, with older age, I really notice it and also eyestrain happens more easily. Gotta look after those peepers! 😀
Alot of times I get mad at the RU-vid algorithm for the recommending me videos of things that I don't want to see or care about but this is the one time that it got it right.

Playing Disgaea 5 right now in the switch and grinding my way to Lvl 200 ( propbly this came for reccomendation because I'm looking for videos for lvl farming in D5)... (Started in Disgaea 2 in PS2). Got to admit, I can't stop smiling watching this. Especially your love for Disgaea 2.

I just got into the series by Disgaea 2 on steam. I have about 300 hours in and i love it. It feels nostalgic as my last Strategy JRPG was FF tactics. Love the chibi design and the big numbers.
A random gem on my suggestion list. Me and my childhood friend loved the Disgaea series, he liked Disgaea 1 and I loved Disgaea 2. There is something about Rozalin's (Zenon's) retreat to find peace by reincarnating and denying her/his position as one of the most cruel and powerful Overlords, and then just ends up on the doorstep of the most simplistic yet kind hearted person which was Adell. Despite the stories all revolving around demons, it's pretty much the most human a fantasy game could ever be. Thank you for this heart warming video random granny.

I love Disgaea so much, hopefully we see a Disgaea 6 announcement within the next year! I agree with you about Disgaea 5, the story and characters aren't as entertaining as the rest of the series. 1 - 4 are all almost equally amazing in my eyes, though! I feel like we'll end up getting a Disgaea 2 Remake on PS4 and PS5 at some point, since I doubt they'd do 1 and 4 and just skip over 2 and 3 (well, they might skip 3 because it's the least popular game in the series, but there's no way they'd skip 2).
this popped up in my recommended, Disgaea 1 Complete is on sale in the Switch eshop and I was debating to get it or not, after seeing how much you love the series, I'm going to have to give it a go, also you've earned a new subscriber, well made video
Seeing such a nice grandma love Disgaea this much warms my heart and brings a tear to my eye. Also, Seraphina does get character development as the game goes on. I hated her in the beginning, but ended up liking her at the end. Though I think my favorite character from 5 was Usalia.
What a wonderful thing I've stumbled upon! My grandfather passed away last week and while I'm still trying to heal from that, this is such a beautiful thing to watch. It always makes me smile when I see older folk play and appreciate video games. Now, I wonder how they ever get into them in the first place?

I feel that currently 4 is probably the best experience you can get. But I'm sure you'd enjoy 5 too. And let me know what you think of 3 when you get around to it. They're all very solid games.
"I find Seraphina annoying", everyone does honestly, it's even worse with the English dub of her (not saying her character is bad because of it, especially once you finish her "chapter" later on)
I actually like seraphina. And Killia. Plus, English dub is better because it's easier to pronounce most of the names in the series (Krichevskoy, for example.) Whereas in a language that is not your native one and that you can't understand, like me (I only know gomenasai, arigatou, senpai, sama, onee-chan, sayonara and konichiwa) it makes it harder to pronounce the names. I always turn off the Japanese voices if they are the only option. Especially in battle when there's no subtitles.
Thank you for sharing your love for Disgea as you have. While I do not share your views on Disgea 2 or Rozalin I would absolutely have to agree every game offers enjoyable solid game play. I also personally find the music of the entire series amazing.

Nippon Ichi went through some financial troubles recently, and have not been making too much new stuff. Disgaea 6 is supposedly in the works, but we have not seen any characters or screenshots from that, still. I would very much like a re-release of Disgaea 3. I don't much play handhelds, so I only ever played it back on the ps3, and still have never played the added content in the Vita version. Have you played Phantom Brave?
Great video! As someone that started with the Disgaea 2 port on the PSP, it has always been very close to my heart growing up so it's great to find others sharing that kind of passion with me. Despite the nature of the franchise not taking itself seriously, they've done a pretty great job with making you care for the unique and memorable characters like Rozalin. Hopefully they'll make a Switch remake for Disgaea 2 and 3 soon. More power from the Philippines :)!

Disgaea 2 on the PSP was my introduction to the series and I loved it so much. Rozalin really is so much fun, she's my favorite character too. Her and Adell are just great paired off together lol. It really is a shame it hasn't gotten a remake yet, so I'm really hoping we see one too
I still remember spending 300hr+ on Disgaea 2 on the PS2 during my middle school years. Good old times grinding in the item world, beating Baal in LoC, and all that jazz. I agree with you on Disgaea 2 being the best! Thank you for sharing your appreciation for the series.
2 has always been one of my favorites, I didn't like how it felt like 3 forced you to put specific weapon types on each character and didn't keep up with the games after that...
3 is actually the one I've played least .. but 4 is great! If you haven't looked at it, you may be missing out on a really neat entry in the series. I actually prefer 4 over 5 ...
@@Food4Dogs In case you didn't see my top-level comment... Disgaea 2 was re-released on PC in 2017!!! I got it, it's great! I do not think you need a powerful PC to play it. Also, in case you weren't aware, you can plug your PC into a TV with HDMI and you can use several different types of controllers with PC including PS4, XBox1, Switch Pro Controller and a ton of controllers made for PC. I love your channel, btw.
@@cloudshad0ws I did see your other comment. 😀 But yea, it's getting difficult, with so many comments piling in continuously. My laptop is pretty good, so that's not an issue. I guess I've just not developed the habit of connecting my PC to TV - I really should give it a go one day. I keep an old Xbox 360 controller for PC gameplay. I find it very comfortable in my hands, and it seems to be compatible with practically anything out there.
@@Food4Dogs oh no worries, I actually posted them around the same time, but I know how hard it must be to get to all of the comments and I wanted to make sure you saw because you seemed disappointed about the lack of Disgaea 2 (and I also love the series). That said, I do hope they also release it on Switch and PS4 and I'm kind of surprised they haven't.

I loved those Disgaea DoubleJump books. The Disgaea 2 one is one of their best; glad you got your hands on one! Good taste with Disgaea 2, haha. Adell is my favorite protagonist, and you helped me appreciate Rozalin more, too.
