Do you happen to see much work around Teesside for a small van? Looking to jump into being a courier, but the price of CX and jumping in blind is scary!
I used to be a London Taxi Driver. A lot of big banks/media used to use different companies for Bike, PH Car, Taxi, Deliveries. In order to save money on admin they gave contracts to one company who could supply all four modes of transport. This is one reason bikes/cars are on here. Re insurance one issue we had in London with PH Uber drivers, they uploaded insurance documents to get on app, then once accepted they cancelled to save £2k a year. Uber have in their T&C’s they are not responsible for vehicle and driver so they aren’t held responsible. If driver using your app has full load of TV’s go missing are you going to be liable if they don’t have the correct insurance at time of incident ?? Lastly it’s quiet because of big budget next week, most companies are holding back on spending till they know what happens.
What to change in the CX? "Backload" cannot be defined by shippers. How can a shippers define that their job is a job taking drivers home? Some shippers post ALL their jobs as backloads and that's taking the piss!!! We all know who they are. But CX don't need to remove it, they can just relabel it as "Co loading authorised". If shippers want a lower price, that's fair enough, but they need to accept a lower service level. They can't demand top level service at rock bottom prices! And on a similar vane, they shouldn't be allowed to post "pays xxx" often something like 25ppm!! It's an auction site, you accept the bids or you don't!
The only people who should be able to have the cx fleet app or add drivers are registered businesses. This then insures the legally liabilities fall on the business. You will then be required to have the legal framework in place. If they have an accident or steal the goods in a worse case circumstances. The company you got the job from would claim against your company. Cx should not be made to babysit companies or individuals who wish to grow their business beyond them in a van. This is just my limited view
The fuel card that i use has been VERY expensive for the last 3 weeks, so i havnt been using it. The pump price has been at least 4p per litre that my fuel card price.
