E ku ise ore. Trying to understand Baba Legba's words right after the bridge. "Igunu lo..., mo fe wo ilu Peteri. Wo na Baba kan L'anosare. Wo to bi wi pe...". Seeking to understand the actual words and context. Super grateful. You're channel is definitely one of the best things I came across this year. Takes the listening experience to a whole new level.

[*Anosare: Is usually meant when they beat a non-initiate person with their voodoo laced cane, the recipient tends to just keep run subconsciously non-stop until he find himself further away from the scene or vicinity of the masquerade].

37 Volumes is a life long work. Currently I don't have time and data for all of them. Secondly, by the time you get pass the Volume 29, you will get mostly into the repetition of the earlier Volumes' drumbeats. Kasunmu Ishola Sanni may add some styling into the beats, but a lot of them are already covered by him in his earlier works.

Hello sir, is that a talking drum or Sakara? They are not the same but both can talk. What you showed is sakara.
@j.a.anibaba2439
@j.a.anibaba2439 9 дней назад
There are two types of Yoruba's talking drums: 1) Dundun, the hour glass shape with strings along the side. 2) And the Yoruba's Sakara drum called Orunsha. It has flat round shape like the tambourine; it's the one I played.

So sir, is ‘iya ilu and gangan’ also talking drums?
@j.a.anibaba2439
@j.a.anibaba2439 8 дней назад
@@hamidonaolaadepoju1837 Iya-Ilu is the lead drum in the drum assemble. For example in the Sakara band, all the drums are the same type, the smaller ones just beating the "omele", the steady beats, while the Iya-ilu (the biggest size drum) mostly beating the Yoruba proverbs or sentences. The setup is similar in the "Gangan" assemble too. Iya-ilu is the lead drum of the set. I hope this clarifies it for you?

Most Yoruba folk songs are commonly recycled and shared. It is our long established cultural practice. Abibu did not come up with his lyrics in his head either. He recycled from what he also heard from his forerunners who unfortunately came before recording was possible.

@j.a.anibaba2439 8 месяцев назад
Thanks@@imambasit1732. I agree with your believe, that people learn better when there is elucidation, it tends to help the individuals to better locked in into the drumbeats of the topic at hand; so that when they run into the drumbeat again in another song, they will be able to zero in on it. Remain blessed. 🙏
