The entire Stop Making Sense live concert video is WELL worth the watch. David basically runs a marathon during it!

Indeed! This is a "scene" from the middle of what many consider the best - and most awesome - live concert film, directed by Jonathan Demme (FYI -who also directed "The Silence of the Lambs"!) Talking Heads were/still are very powerful social commentarists with their songs and performances. You guys really need to react to the ENTIRE concert, from start to finish, song by song. The opening is going to help you understand what the band is about in their "structured chaos"! hehe. Demme and David Byrne creatively structured the concert performance just like a dramatic film. The infamous "BIG SUIT" section is also going to blow your minds. Side note : I was working at a movie theatre in the 80s. When this film came to my cinema, I REALLY enjoyed working every night! If it is at all possible for you where you live, try and see the entire film in a movie theatre!!

This weekend, to celebrate the concert film’s 40th anniversary, they re-released Stop Making Sense on giant iMax screens all over the U.S. I hadn’t seen the film since the 80’s, so I went to see it in the theater last night and again, IT WAS AWESOME!!! 🔥🔥🔥

David Byrne, the lead singer, was Scottish. The Talking Heads was a unique band. The frenetic pace, 'spastic' movements, unreal energy, funky music were all hallmarks of Byrne and his Heads.

The Talking Heads were one of the groups in the lead of the "NEW WAVE" craze that started about 2 years before MTV started. Most New Wave bands were flashes in the pan, one hit wonders. Talking heads were one of the few that endured for the decade.

SO MUCH NEW-WAVE FUN!!! LOVE Talking Heads! This, to me, was GREAT PARTY MUSIC, back in the day! ...and, this concert, David Byrne actually does LAPS around the STAGE: While IN THE MIDDLE of a SONG or two!! :) My thought - I'd be SO OUT-OF-BREATH, I wouldn't even be ABLE to sing - LOVE IT! SO MUCH ENERGY & SO ENTERTAINING!!! Hope you BOTH are doing WELL! HUGS! ❤❤❤❤❤

David Byrne is a genius and is still kicking having created a concert for Broadway recently. He is as cutting edge as they come - in a smart way. What you're seeing here is the forefront of the musical movement New Wave. Please do more Talking Heads!

Road to Nowhere and Once in a Lifetime are 2 more of their interesting songs. There are a few! David Byrne had a whole show on Broadway in New York as well. They were popular in the 80s but he is still actively creating today. Great reaction, they are strangely fun, aren't they!😂

Talking heads’ genius imo was exploiting the developing electronic music scene in really cool and sophisticated ways, but always kept a fat groove behind it with Chris and Tina. Tina Weymouth especially keeps all the weirdness tight and deserves more than her share of the credit for the bands success.

The film of this concert was directed by Jonathan Demme and fully represents the atmosphere of the Talking Heads concerts. Their underground pop rock is tainted with various influences, including funky, electronica and afro. They were among the major representatives of what was called the American New Wave

I came back to add that I listened to an interview with David Byrne, the lead singer, a few days ago. Asked about the movements of the musicians, he said they worked with a choreographer who gave the musicians each a different TYPE of movement, and let them improvise from that point. Also, Byrne, at age 71, continues to be an important force in music, and has written and produced stage musicals, music for movies, and more. One of my other favorite songs is Take Me to the River. There's also a terrific concert film called Stop Making Sense.

I was in my 20s in the '80s. I used to go to probably 30 concerts a year. NO ONE was more fun than the Talking Heads! Not even the B-52s (and they were great fun too!). Absolutely the best concerts of my life! I'm sure I must have seen them at least 10 or 12 times. And there was absolutely no way I could sit still whenever this song in particular came on. Immediate dash to the dance floor!

Recommend working through the tracks from Stop Making Sense in order. It starts with Dave Byrne with a guitar and boombox. On each successive song another bandmate joins him and the set builds piece by piece. After about six songs, it is full boogie the rest of the way. No filler, all killer.
