Talking Mickey Debuts at the Magic Kingdom, Town Square Theater - New Magician Costume, Disney World

Today was the official debut of Talking Mickey at the Magic Kingdom! We first met him over 2 years ago at the Disney D23 Expo, and he's now to meet guests each day at the Town Square Theater. Mickey also has a new Magician costume!

That was fun to watch, I noticed when you posed with Micky for the photo his eyes didn't blink, that could ruin the photo if he did blink!

And I think the Voices are prerecorded as well I think the only thing the people need to do is make the eyes and mouth move or the actor controls all the movements within the head.

His eyes are controlled by the actors fingers ....every time the actor closes his/her hands the eyes open and close.

i think this would be a lot better if the actor inside can control the voice, its a fantastic step in the right direction but the character lacks that 'magic' feeling since the responses don't match the questions. I'd say if they can manage to make it so the actor inside can control the face and voice then they would pretty much have a real mickey mouse, and with that technology in every character at disneyland it would create a fantastic experiance! I love this talking mickey and cant wait to see where it goes from here!

i agree, they need to think of a way to control the voice instead of pre programmed responses. Because not all people will ask the same questions and respond to the same answers.

Its sad as Talking Mickey will be losing his voice this May. Apparently it's ruining the magic? Anyway, as far as I know, no more talking characters... ;(

Met him today! He did a magic trick and everything. Helps so much to bring realism to this character. All I could see him as was the big cheese and not a 5'0" tall human. Simply amazing. This means big things for Walt Disney World!

This version of Mickey's voice perhaps. Now if you are referring to Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse voice, it is more difficult than you might think.... :)

According to a patent Disney filed several years ago, the lines are actually prerecorded. There is an operator and a performer. The performer is in the costume and the operator selects the responses. The performer is not actually talking.

+Mozilla561 Either that or a computer program, he kinda responded like Siri with a mickey voice. Obviously more refined but im curious if it is in fact voice mod (or an actor with a good "mickey" voice) or just prerecorded phrases and a computer doing all the talkng.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this Mickey. It seems like in the past few weeks I saw a video of a Mickey from the MNSSHP that had a lot more interaction as if voiced live. All the videos I've seen of this Mickey come off as very scripted.

+Riley Gower No. Its still a head/mask the actor wears. Part of it is animatronic with pre-recorded phrases or a really good actor voicing Mickey...probably the first one. : P
