Brady Quinn will forever be my favorite Notre Dame quarterback. Kudos to John and Nick for keeping their cool and professionalism in the presence of greatness
Oh contrarè. It is Brady who is moving up in the world. Every day that Notre Dame fails to sign Johnny to a multi year contract as HC or advisor to Freeman, is a day they move further away from regaining its former glory.
@@edobrien1000for what? They already have a better DC, who beat freeman 3 times already. At Oklahoma state, then twice with OSU. He forsure wouldn’t take Ryan’s day spot. Maybe if freeman is willing to step down and take a linebacker coach role.
Did anyone ever notice how much louder ND stadium was when it was only 59,000 capacity? Could be wrong, but I remember the crowd had more of an impact on opponents.
I cannot envision a 2 loss ND team making the playoff with their schedule (ranked 52nd most difficult). A 2 loss or even 3 loss SEC team would likely be preferred.

It’s Time to Rock the boat and get a new system in place now. I’ll comeback to this comment if we lose to Georgia Tech, USC, and Louisville! After 3-years of Freeman recruiting? I'm always willing to accept a lot of teams to keep things fairly close for about a half, b/c of the very fact that we "get their best shots" all the time. But this game....to come back out in the 2ND HALF and look like a carbon-copy of the 1st half performance....well, it's inexcusable.
I didn’t see much Emotion out of our head coach that whole game…you’re the players Leader ~ Act Like One…during the game you need those emotions…Football is an emotional game and I see zero emotion from Freeman…unless he really doesn’t understand the x’s and o’s
Brady’s a helluva guy but there’s no way he being 💯 about Riley just needing time. The dude is a veteran experienced qb, not some 12th grader that just picked up a football 2 months ago for the first time. I get it. He’s gotta say the right things, but come on. And as far as the academic stronghold at ND……yeah you don’t want to sacrifice who you are as a university but if Michael Jordan has a 2.8gpa and Kurt Rambis has a 4.0……..just sayin. Perfect example: Randy Moss
After the worst loss in ND history and your ranting and raving over the last few days you have the one dude on your show to share insight on the current QB and coach and no tough questions. Brady Quinn played under the 2 guys who got fired because they lost to teams they shouldn't have lost to. This interview was a waste of time and opportunity
At least Marcus Freeman launched his new Under Armour brand this week so he can sell the ND fanbase more merch. The problem is we’re here for the football.
Freeman is not a good recruiter on offense. Yet recruiting is his only alleged 'strength' . Our offense has no game changing weapons outside of possibly Love. We have averaged 15.5 points per game in offense the first two weeks. ND's offense has thrown no touchdown passes, has produced only one pass beyond 20 yards, and is rated near the absolute bottom of the nation after the first two games. Pathetic.
I agree with you 💯 about Freeman. It’s his 3rd year of recruiting so where’s the Top Talent? You pay $1.2million for a non-passing QB? His passing numbers at Duke weren’t that stellar! It’s Year Three people and you want to ride this Freeman dude to another 8-4 season?? Good for you…hopefully Freeman will show some emotion on the sidelines for his players cause he looks like he’s coaching a ballet performance
@@TheSBleeder I think the only longshot angle is that the players wear the insignia of an institution that receives federal funding ... but they aren't being paid by the institution ... exactly ... very strange equation when it comes to US labor law.
Freeman is starting to lose a lot of the Notre Dame fan base. A lot of fans are starting to lose faith and feel completely different towards Freeman. This can't keep happening! You had your Marshall and Stanford and even Louisville! Also, the embarrassing 10 guys on the field that cost us the Ohio State game. You are now in your third year and lose to NIU! Unacceptable! I don't think he understands the seriousness of this now. There are no more mulligans Freeman! This is Notre Dame! Former Notre Dame captain and linebacker Mike Goolsby completely sounded off on Freeman and is about completely done with Freeman. He lost all confidence in him! A lot of fans feel different towards Freeman now! You cannot keep putting the fan base through this Freeman and he just isn't getting it! There is some real incompetence going on here! This is all on Freeman and has been a consistent pattern since Freeman got here! That comment Freeman made during the game about Leonard, freaked out a lot of people! Bryan Driskell at Irish breakdown, wrote a beautiful article about the comment Freeman made and on the quarterback situation and how it goes much deeper than Riley Leonard and even though Leonard played bad, he is just a symptom of a much deeper sickness at Notre Dame and at the quarterback position. For example, if Freeman feels that way, which is a completely wrong way of thinking to begin with, but if he does, then WHY DO YOU BRING IN SOMEONE LIKE RILEY LEONARD WHO IS A PLAY MAKER AND STREET BALLER! IF YOU WANT A ROBOT, WHY BRING IN LEONARD? You bring Leonard in and then Freeman tells him not to be all the things that make Riley Leonard, "Riley Leonard" and difficult to defend! Freeman did the same thing with Sam Hartman! Hartman was a gun slinger and one of, if not the best deep ball throwers in all of college football, putting up 4,000 passing yards a season AT WAKE FOREST! He comes to Notre Dame and Freeman takes away what Makes Sam Hartman, "Sam Hartman!" Freeman keeps beating it in these guys head don't turn the ball over, don't make a mistake and it is messing with their heads and making them afraid to throw the ball and make a mistake! About half way through the season last year, Hartman start looking hesitant to throw the deep ball and afraid to make mistakes, which in turn, got in his head and caused him to make mistakes anyway! Hartman regressed and he didn't even put up enough passing yards to get to 3,000. Hartman regressed and looked like a different QB by the middle of the season on. Freeman ruined him. There appears to be a major disconnect and offensive philosophy problem with Freeman, that is handcuffing this offense and holding it back and that is the reason we keep having these bad patterns of offensive struggles! We keep having these issues scoring the ball, passing the ball and at the quarterback position! These are Marcus Freemans issues! Once again, it has been a very conservative, predictable, stale and uncreative offense, that is not utilizing their weapons and talent to their strengths and best abilities! That is a problem! You have now had these offensive struggles with 3 different offensive coordinators, including one that was the highest scoring offensive coordinator in football last year, in Mike Denbrock. Also, you have now had two very good college quarterback's, with proven track records, in Sam Hartman and Riley Leonard, that have both regressed and struggled under Marcus Freeman! DO WE NOT SEE A SERIOUS PATTERN HERE! 3 OFFENSIVE COORDINATORS AND AT LEAST 2 COLLEGE PROVEN QUARTERBACKS HAVE NOW STRUGGLED AND REGRESSED UNDER MARCUS FREEMAN! THIS IS A MARCUS FREEMAN PROBLEM! HE HAS A OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY PROBLEM AND HANDCUFFS THE OFFENSE AND IT HAS TO GET FIXED QUICK! LET DENBROCK COOK AND DO HIS THING WITH THE OFFENSE! GO IRISH!! GOD BLESS!!!
What concerns me is freeman saying in press conference he didn’t see a problem with the run to pass play call ratio … 38 passes most which are incomplete to 15 runs at 7.2 yards a carry … his identity changes by the day ..
Think ND needs to bring in an offensive minded coach if you can't score you can't win now adays. That Andy Kotelnicki from PSU looks like he would be a great candidate.
It was one loss in the big scheme of things but…. It’s a loss to NIU. Unless ND makes a humongous comeback and runs the table, they are not making the playoffs. Sorry but that’s the reality.
@@billywilmoth5062the key word in my post was UNLESS. I meant to say I doubt they run the table now. They won’t go 11-1. If they do, certainly they will make the playoffs. I just don’t see them running the table unless loads of things get fixed. Stranger things have happened though.
The NIU loss was like 2 losses. No one else would have a floor that bad who is competing for the 12th playoff spot along with us. Losing to a MAC team was catestrophic. It's like we would be a 10-2 team against a really weak schedule. It would be at best a 50-50 chance we make playoffs even at 11-1.
NIU was merely an adjustment game. Things have never looked brighter. I am PUMPED UP!! If we can get Kennedy to replace Freeman as head coach, the Irish will dominate and crush every opponent. 💪
Ive said it once.... One of two things happened... 1. Setting up to be the greatest story in college football...held to high regard. Playoff contention, talent, undefeated season... Lose home opener to NIU. Only to win out rest of season, roll through playoffs and win a natty 🏆.... Or.... Someone made a bet, and won.... Hella big. Shame. #GoIrish☘️ #fUcktherest
It’s amazing all the critics and what they think they have to say. If I remember correctly Tony Rice was the last QB to win A National Championship. So if that is the standards Then ever team after that team is a failure.
We shouldve never entertained riley leonards interest. Angeli has proved himself multiple times. And shouldve started this season. Multiple yrs learning behind other qbs. Seasoned qbs. And enough playing time to know what this team strives for. Having Minchey and carr behind him (and having minchey very capable just in case) having leonard transfer honestly had me scratching my head. ON paper....sure. He SEEMED like the answer to that position - well 'the answer' has more ints over passing tds. Unfortunately... He isnt the answer. Angeli, i feel, is more of an answer than Riley. #GoIrish☘️
I've been pissed all wk!! MF, Denbrock, RL, Rudolph & O line,all... deserve blame!! No excuses!! Absolutely choke job!! No we don't fire anyone.. with that said, clock is running on this staff now!! Better win out, win 2 gms in CFP..it ain't over, but fat lady is warming the pipes! 💚🍀
Clausen. 2009 - Over 3700 yards - 2nd best season in history (ave 300 a game) 68% completion 28td 4int passer rtg 161. Averaged 30 pts per game. That team lost 3 games scoring 30 points or more and 4 games scoring 27 points or more.
I used to think this was a 10-2 to 8-4 team, but now I think this is more like an 8-4 to 6-6 team. Fans overlooked the obvious holes in the roster, but others have shown up since the beginning of the season, most notably to the DL. Wow! It's not very good. The OL has more problems than I expected. The QB (Leonard) is more fragile than I expected, and the WRs are as mediocre as I thought. Oben, Mitchell, and Leonard have been busts so far. It could be a long season.
Talking about transfer makes me wonder if the attitudes of student athletes that transfer multiple times will make an impact on draft stock. Pro teams are going to draft kids that will develop and will want to stay and get paid not skip town to get paid.
Does Brady Quinn have any eligibility left? We need to get this man to sign the Kennedy for HC petition so we can turn this program around and make a run for THIS year's Natty. Let's Goooo.
As a true die hard Notre Dame fan, my biggest fear and concern with Marcus Freeman and I am just being honest, is he is too soft and nice to win championships and be the right guy at Notre Dame. Too be truly successful, sometimes your coach just has to have that P and vinegar! Kirby Smart and Nick Sabin etc... had that p and vinegar and they were winners! Nice guys, fitness models and soft coaches just don't win championships! The hard truth! Marcus Freeman's career so far at Notre Dame as a head coach has been summed up as Schizophrenic, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! That is a big concern and issue! Without consistency, they will never make the playoff! After watching Freeman's interview, I still don't think he gets it! He is too stubborn to see the big picture! Challenge everything, except himself and his offensive philosophy of handcuffing the offense! The fact he didn't even admit to the running backs not getting the ball enough after making big plays and being their primary weapons, shows me he didn't learn much and still isn't seeing the big picture to properly correct things! His stubbornness will be his demise! Freeman talks about the Golden standard, well he is far from reaching that as a head coach! Just inexcusable and embarrassing for this type of loss to happen yet again, in now his 3rd season. He hasn't learned a thing from his past mistakes! Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result! That is what Freeman is doing, especially on the offensive side of the ball, along with his offensive philosophy, mindset and preparation mistakes! Why are we here again? Why does this keep happening with you Freeman? These types of loses are not normal! There is some sort of disconnect and bad coaching somewhere causing these bad patterns to happen like this, with these extreme inconsistency's and weird patterns of one game the team looks like world beaters and in other games against lesser competition, they just don't show up emotionally or mentally at all! This cannot keep happening, unless Marcus Freeman gets real serious and looks in the mirror at himself and is honest with himself and holds himself, his coaching staff and players accountable and starts fixing the problems. If not, then this unfortunately, will continue to happen and if this continues to happen much longer, then I think we all know the out come! In order to fix the problems, you have to first diagnose them and admit them and then work on fixing them, the problem with Freeman is, I don't think he is properly diagnosing them, or able to admit them! A lot of the fan base has about had it with Freeman and with all the inconsistency's and these types of loses, that are just inexcusable and embarrassing! He will not have a job much longer if this continues! Marcus Freeman and all the coaches and players and all the fans better start repenting and praying to God! Pray! Work hard! Stay focused and disciplined! Pray and ask God for guidance, strength, wisdom and understanding and have faith in God! Trust in God and do God's will! Go Irish! God Bless!!
Chill out! MF was promoted from DC to HC. Remember, he had no experience as HC to draw upon. He is learning on the job. To many Laz-e-boy recliner ND Fans think it is easy being a HC. MF is tough. He's just inexperienced. Nick Saban also lost to a NIU type team a few years ago. It happens.

Then it happened again, in his second year against Louisville and Clemson, not to mention the terrible once in a lifetime 10 men on the field decision, that cost them the Ohio State game, that everyone laughed at. Now, to be fair, those two loses were no where near as bad as the Marshall and Stanford loses. However, the point is, the team just didn't show up emotionally or mentally! Now here we are in Marcus Freeman's third season, he is no longer a rookie head coach, at some point you have to learn from your mistakes and start seeing some maturity and growth as a head football coach, especially at a historic blue blood like Notre Dame! So, here we are now in Freeman's third season and he loses yet again, in the home opener against NIU! Which may be an even worse loss than Marshall and Stanford in his first year! NIU may be his worst loss yet! In fact, they are saying this may go down as one of the biggest upsets! So, we are clearly seeing a very bad pattern under Marcus Freeman, where one week they come out all fired up looking like world beaters, like they did at Texas A&M and then in the next week, they come out with no emotion, not emotionally or mentally prepared and lose at home to way less talented inferior teams, such as Marshall, Stanford and now NIU! There is a clear pattern being shown under Marcus Freeman, that should raise some level of concern and to just Ignore it, is shallow and Ignorant! Freeman is now in his third season and to lose like this to NIU in the home opener, is just unacceptable and embarrassing! To lose once again, in the way they lost, against an inferior opponent is inexcusable! No excuse! Another problem and bad pattern under Freeman is, you don't know which team is going to show up on a week to week basis! So far under Freeman, you get the schizophrenic, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, inconsistent football teams and that is a problem! This is a Marcus Freeman problem! Every year there has been a pattern of nothing but inconsistency and the biggest problem with all this is, we all thought we were now past this in Marcus Freeman's third season, but he has shown no growth and continues to make the same mistakes. So, he hasn't learned anything from his past mistakes and that is an issue! This is Notre Dame! He is still making the same foolish mistakes and not learning form it! You don't keep losing to these caliber of teams on a year to year basis. To act like there is no concerns is just Ignorant! Context! There are some bad patterns forming under Freeman. Look, I and most of, if not all the fan base is rooting for Freeman, but there are some definite concerns, that just can't be Ignored and everyone is talking about it! I am a true fan and these type of loses and inconsistency will hurt and bother the true fans, that is what a fan is! Freeman cannot keep putting the fan base through this! At some point, there has to be some growth and you have to learn from your mistakes. Nick Sabin didn't keep losing to the NIU type teams, he did once at the most twice and learned from it and it never happened again. Freeman isn't learning! This is his third or fourth time doing this in three years! This should not keep happening at a place like Notre Dame! Freeman has got to learn form his mistakes and find a way to fix this, mature and grow as a head coach and find a level of consistency because if this goes on much longer, he will not be here much longer! Go Irish! God Bless!!
Until Notre Dame joins a conference, there is no such thing as looking at Notre Dame as an 11-1 team, even if they finish 11-1. Why? Notre Dame refuses to play a 13th game by refusing to join a conference. Therefore, the benefit of the doubt should go to any team who is in a conference and plays a 13th game and LOSES, over a Notre Dame team who refuses to play a 13th game at all.
Oh come on, Pollyquinna. It wasn't "just one loss." It was one loss to freakin' Northern Illinois University. A MAC also-ran team that was 7-6 last year with maybe one kid on the roster that ND would have recruited. It's an embarrassing loss that cements the notion ND is still irrelevant.
So, you actually believe that an 11-1 Notre Dame who refuses to join a conference and play a 13th game, would get in over a 10-3 Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, etc who played in a conference championship game but lost??? No. I don't think so. Especially if that one loss is to Northern Illinois
Bro, I’ve been saying it. Can’t keep saying it much more because everyone knows. Our talent should have won. Only reason it didn’t is because feeeman didn’t pull Riley. So NIU stacked the box. And said beat us through the air. And then love gets the highlight of the day. And we stopped running. So it’s double bad. So they wanted you to beat them through the air. You start running it and run away from that game plan straight to what they want you to do. Freeman is embarrassing for this lost and it’s all on him at this point
Can we bring back the box and let love run the ball and stop with this spread offense when clearly no coach on this staff knows QB and the wr can't get open
Which one of you on the podcast is gonna grow a paid and tell Brady we aren’t winning out to go to the playoffs.😂😂😂. Freeman is 20-9 and hasn’t won more than 5 games in a row. If so maybe 5. We aren’t going to the playoffs my boy.😂😂😂😂😂😂
