I LOVE that you are explaining the importance of the begining details!! Conga is not Latin people's drum o It is still our African drum, transported abroad and retaining it's African identity, conga: Congo. Just like "agogo" Some people think it is a Latin word but all are African - agogo, samba, bala, marimba, bongo... Thanks much respect broda.
I intend to learn this drum so I met q guy ,and he introduced me to your video so I have to watch it and with the help of God and the power of consistent practice I can now play the drum very well ,boss I owe you a lot but I don't know how to appreciate wat u ve don than to say thank you ,God bless you ,more wisdom
Thank you so much Sambay... I'm actually noticing improvements as I play. I'm using short and simple piano rhythms on youtube like, "Mary Had a Little Lamb" to learn and get used to spacing, pacing and the sounds of the sol-fa notes. Thanks a lot your videos are really helpful.
I don’t know a lot go to playing drums, it is like playing a football where a lot of thinking has to come into play and make different between a good striker and a bad one. Well done, you are a patient teacher. I am watching your video for the first time and I am able to get some important tips. Blessings
Once again, your tutorials are thorough. I play talking drums also and I'm still going through this process (INCLUDING using the metronome like you're doing). This series confirms that I must be going in the right direction. Thanks.
Nice one bro....I’ve a suggestion. I’m thinking is there a way you can record the instruments together and play talking drum to them so people can see how the work together.
Hello, the talking drum does speak depending on what you want to say. But it also is a mimic speech. You can play it without talking. The omele doesn't really speak unless you choose to say something with it, but that would be with multiple omeles that will be communicating with each other in different tones in order to say something. I hope you understand that?
@1Sambay yes sir I do understand I will go with the mimic because of the different tones I will call that vocabulary because in afro cuban it's called floraya...
