Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head, North Carolina in the Outer Banks, features the tallest active sand dune system in the northeastern United States. The sand dunes can reach 80-100 feet high and in the summer, the sand can reach a temperature of 140° F/60° C. You can see hang-gliders here as a hang-gliding school gives hang-gliding instructions for beginners.
