Thank you ❤ I am moving to Estonia for six months as an exchange student and this once gave me so much more insight than any other video that I ve been researching for almost two hours now. ❤❤❤
Hi dear. Please can you make a video upon digital business expenses, how to comply with taxation and insights about DTAA with Indian taxes especially if you register Limitted company in estonia.
Thank you for watching! If you stay in Estonia for more than ~180 days, you would have to pay tax in your home country as well as India. I hopped every few weeks to nearby countries within Schengen to avoid spending time at a stretch in Estonia. Also, to be honest, I doubt if Estonian govt has any ways to track how much time we spend there.
THanks for the video. You are very attractive and you have some good points. Couple of things: - Raise the volume of your vocal track. - Seems you have music in the background? Lose it. - The music blip at the end is SOOO MUCH LOUDER THAN THE REST OF THE VIDEO. Be well!
Yes, IT and Tech jobs are the highest paid ones. However, I should share that the season is not so well right now so it’s better to get a job before arriving
@@shreyamahendru_ Thank you for the advice! It’s my dream to live there. I’m wondering if it is safe with what is going on in the world with Ukraine and such?
@@AestheticAbe it’s safer than you think - the govts are handling the diplomacies very well - in terms of the societal safety, I have had beyond amazing experiences
@@shreyamahendru_ that’s amazing to hear. Ever since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to live in Estonia. I don’t have any money saved up but have good IT experience. I will get there one day ASAP. Thanks so much for your help :)
Hi Shreya, Thanks for video. I see one of the requirement for digital visa is employer contract. Since I am freelancer who works on Upwork and has many client but not any long contract with specific client. In this case how can show my eligibility ? though i have income proof of consietnt earning more than $100K in last 1.5 years
Ideally, it is suggested to have a stable income stream from one or two clients consistently but still if you can prove the minimum per month consistent income, it should suffice. Highly suggest to go on a short term visa first because the Estonian embassy in India is too picky to issue a long term visa in one go. Once you reach Estonia with proper paperwork and prep, you can apply for a long term visa at the police station
Hey, I liked your content while searching out some info about living in Tallinn. Can you share the group where you've found your accommodation ? Or any suggestions about finding studio apartment in Tallinn . Thx in advance
Hello! Thank you for your comment and for your appreciation. 'Expats in Estonia' is one of the very helpful groups but for accommodation specific, search for apartments in Tallinn or Student Apartments in Tallinn etc.
The public transport (TLT) is free for people who are registered in Tallinn, tourist must pay, how else would they make money... oh and also, prices for tourists are rising! expect to pay around 10-50 cents more.
Yes exactly, due to some randomly weird results on Google or some resources saying so, a lot of people coming believe that it is free. Going to keep an eye on the prices! Thank you for your comment 😇
I don't have the details about expenses for children, as they might have an extra fee for extracurricular activities and education etc., but the rent can be kept under 5-600Eur for a 1 BHK house.
my mortgage in portland is 3450 usd/mo, LOL. and my home only cost 765k usd. back in san francisco, it would be worth 4-5 million usd. estonia seems insanely cheap to me.
Such a nice video! Apart from coworkings, are there many coffee shops with decent internet to work from (where owners don't mind staying extended periods)? Thanks!
I always say Tallinn moves at just the right pace! At most coffee shops, it's usually never hasty or very busy. At places like caffeine and Reval cafes, it is absolutely normal to spend hours with their laptops. I love Caffeine in the old town but that's the only slightly busy one!
@@shreyamahendru_ Thank you! I see that rent for 1 bedroom furnished apartments is around 400 to 500 eur, would you agree, is this accurate? Is it common to pay 1 or 2 deposits, and estate agent fees? Thanks!
@@TechTalkAdrien If you want to bypass brokers, you can try finding through Facebook groups but yes, it is usual to give a security deposit of an extra month and 15-30 days of your rent to the broker.
I am planning to move tallinn from Sweden -- what would be the cost of living for 3 member family, How much I can save there if I get 6000 Euro per month
Depends a lot on your spending patterns, but 6k is a good enough income for a household of 3 people in Tallinn. You can get an apartment in 500-600 Eur, say
Ot the food is 15 eur or over, it is a tourist oriented or the food must be put of the world or you are getting scammed. You get ok meal for like 5 eur, a good meal woth good portion up to 10 eur +- 2 eur (depending on location)
I didn’t find anything for under 6-7 in my entire stay! Well some places are really nice like Asian cafe, Turqi bbq in baltijaam. But the portion sizes are too small for my big Indian tummy 😂 I realise that it is just ideal for European appetite but mine has been bigger since we have been eating much higher quantities since childhood
@@shreyamahendru_ In Pärnu for example is "Aleksandri Pubi" where you can get a biger meals for about 7 eur, popular for locals and tourists. For locals cheap and basic Estonian meals in Tallinn that is known to every Estonan is across the national bus terminal named "Kodused toudud" and it is open 24h a day. And many others (i cant go to eat out anymore due to injuries, so u dont have the list atm, will post later).
@@lucky777yt3 only in tech sector. And it’s not a good practice to go kn tourist and convert to work permit there. They may send you back to home country if they doubt your intentions were not clear
For Estonia, the requirements are changing quite rapidly and they differ per nationality too. I recommend writing email to the embassy near you and checking the website too. Do check about dependents as well, because from what I know, Estonia gives a D visa which is a longer term Schengen visa and not a residency which some countries do offer (like Spain, Portugal, Hungary) - which means dependents cannot accompany the visa holders
Yes absolutely but if you plan to build savings too, it would be better to have 2 earning members in the family or have 4k+ a month, as the tax is also ~20%
Interesting analysis on the cost of living in Tallinn. Sad fact is that median Net income is 1500€/month. So based on your experience of costs being around 1500 to 2000€/month, its not the median lifestyle. Its only affordable to high end earning ppl.
I agree that digital nomad lifestyle with comfort and shorter travels is not the cheapest. Say you get a decent hotel for 30-35 eur per night and you stay for 30 days, spend on food and coworking spaces- the amount is much more than a local’s spend. There are a lot of hacks and tips to reduce the spend - I do agree to the point that this is a high end lifestyle. Thank you for your comment! ✨
@@shreyamahendru_ You´re welcome. I´m also in IT for a very long time and it´s hard to comprehend how ppl survive on low wages in Estonia. Sadly the huge inflation is an extra punch in the cut.
Transportation is not a big one - if you are a walker (even in -20) or get the monthly card, there are so many hacks to save money on clothes, home decor, appliances etc but you cannot escape the rent and groceries expense!
@@shreyamahendru_ so can we start company and start working there as a Foreign resident on the basis of e residence program ? Did u doing job there or running ur own company ?
@@ntgroup1571 I do freelancing as I didn’t want to go through so many processes. We can start a company virtually using e residency but the lawyers and all will take fee
60 eur per week for frood from store, who are you feeding, max 40 for person per week or you are just buying from a shop that is expensive (like Viru shopping center shops).
Hi ...i would like to know job opportunity in Estonia,as i am from IT background...if i didn't get job there for 6 months ...is there any alternative job opportunities for survival
Hi! i have been working remotely, so I can suggest that you can live in Estonia and do freelancing or remote work since IT has so many remote jobs these days!
Not sure if one is better than the other. Both have their own pros and cons. I found Tallinn better for myself considering very high safety, high standard of living, better tech community. I visited Riga and I found it cheaper compared to Tallinn
