So i put tama star cast hoops and mounts on the kit. Sounds awesome!!! I know they are out of tune. Was to excited to try them Excuse my playing, i was just fooling around a bit
Absolutely beautiful looking and sounding Tama kit. Even the most inexpensive Tama kits sound great with good heads and proper tuning. They really make fantastic kits, very high attention to detail. When I bought my first Tama kit 20 years ago I was sold immediately from the hardware and mounting systems. I went from Pearl Export to Tama Rockstar and never wanted to see Pearl hardware/mounts ever again. The L-rod and omni ball joint mounts were sooo much nicer imo.
Nice kit! I just purchased the new Starclassic Performer and love it. Can''t beat Tama kits. This is my 3rd Tama kit. The Starclassic Performer is exactly what I was looking/waiting for as it has upgraded pro features, shallow toms (which I wanted), and perfect price range. Rock on!
Hi! Do you have photos of that kit? I'm curious to see how it looks without that video lens distortion! I think more and more of having nearly identical setup(powertoms 10 12 13 14 over 20"!) Tnx!
Yes the mounts are a bit wobbly. The rack tom bounce is bad for sustain, attack, pitch and reverbiration. The suspension system and mounting hardware are a bit anemic for the application. Facebook see The Edge of Gibraltar I am serving as a guide to mentor, and make my Ideas known.
Very nice, dude. I have the same kit 10pc in piano black with bell brass snare. British racing green, right? I'll eventually upgrade to the Starcast system. How much did that cost you? I imagine it lets the shells resonate slightly more. Is it noticeable? Wonder if the additional holes from removing the tom mounts have impacted the sound.
Very nice kits right? Yes it is british racing green. It cost me about 700€ and the difference is very noticeable. The holes dont matter, they were there before except you could’nt see them. Think of them as an extra air vent
@@JonneDrums Damn... That's gonna cost me over 900. Yeah dude... The Artstar Custom was my dream kit since I was a teenager. Dave Lombardo had a red Artstar Custom with the May Internal Miking system when he was playing with Grip Inc and Testament. It sounded and looked incredible and so I had to get one. Took a few years. I always preferred them over the Starclassics because of the thicker and deeper shells. The badge and lugs much cooler too. I always get compliments on the drum sound at shows. I just recently formed a Slayer tribute band called Ghosts of War. We're doing classic era Slayer with the same instruments, gear and attire they used back then and playing as close to the albums as possible. I'm in southern California. Hopefully this COVID shit dwindles down enough so live shows can happen again this year. Keep jamming and don't ever sell your kit. They're legendary and don't make em like that anymore.
@@Vorgaloth hey man cool! Yes i had a starclassic asswell. Prefer these over them for sure. They just got the punch and power that you don’t hear in modern drums anymore. Never knew lombardo played one. I wanted an artstar 2 for a long time but this one popped up and iam sooo glad i went with this one. I’ll check you’re slayer tribute band out. I’ve been working on angel of death lately
@@JonneDrums I like the Artstar Customs over the Artstar II because of the diecast hoops and I think the badge looks a lot classier. Have you heard Dave's old band Grip Inc? Such an underrated band. They were different. Here's him on his Artstar Custom with the May mic system. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YC4-igjzqBA.html
@@JonneDrums I noticed your Star Cast doesn't have the support bar for the bottom hoop. I assume you have to buy them separately. Here's a video of it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jzUZ31H0Re0.html www.tama.com/world/support/parts/drum/star_cast/star_cast_STAR.html
@@JonneDrums You gotta love vintage Tama Kits. Your setup sounds fantastic. You wouldn’t even know that you twin BD’s are 20inchers. They hit with boom and clarity. Thanks for sharing. BTW-what heads are you using?!
