“Lead us from darkness to light”- this famous extract from the Upanishads has been providing a motto for the entire mankind- dispelling of darkness of ignorance with the light of knowledge. In Sishupaath, a book for little ones, by Tagore, his first lesson is -Aalo hoy gelo bhoy( light removes fear). Light, in the form of energy particles, has given birth to our mother earth. The rays of Sun falling on earth have induced life and animated the earth. The first discovery of man is fire and this discovery led to the other major discoveries by mankind. In the aura of those bright rays of fire, man has learnt to become civilized. Light acted as the first step towards our civilization. Light is considered to be the initiator of new development, giving a new direction to all living things. It leads to the development of new ideas and thoughts in different forms; it brightens the path of our lives. Light symbolizes knowledge, hope, creation, new beginning, new ideas. When man is engulfed by the darkness of cruelty, jealousy, thirst for power, the divine light within his soul directs him to the right path and man continues the unending journey from darkness to light.. Light is Moksha, uniting with the almighty, gaining the ultimate knowledge about the Parambrahma. In the words of Tagore- “Bhengechho duar, Eshechho Jyotirmoy, Tomari hok joy” (O lord! You have reached me by breaking the doors of darkness to lead me towards light. I bow to you!)
Keeping in mind this immense significance of ‘Light’ in our life, my new production is based on this concept to renew and review everything through a new ray of light.
