I heard in a youtube video somewhere that the instrumental part simulates being a loner. You're trying your hardest to listen in on the conversation, be a part of it, but you can't make out any words, you can't engage in whatever is happening, and eventually revert back to inside your head as the music overpowers the conversation.
Hard for me to pick one single favorite from Lonerism. I think it would have to be Apocalypse Dreams, but this is amazing, as are all the other tracks. Each one is a masterpiece.
Tame Impala's hidden masterpiece. "I guess I'll go and tell you just as soon as I get to the end of this song." *song repeats to the beginning in the outro*
@@adan5439 A lot of Tame Impala is "simple" if you think this solo is simple cause it's just 2 notes. But Kevin's approach of songwriting and his use of effects and to create the feelings he does is not simple whatsoever.
It makes me sad. He never gets to the end. So he keeps on lying. I used to listen to this on loop when i hadn't gotten my mental health issues addressed.
Love how he sings about finally talking to a person when he gets to the of the song and then as the track finishes it loops back to the start, implying he'll never end up talking to the person. Amazing song.
I don't think I've heard another song that fades in with lyrics, goes instrumental for the vast majority, starts to fade out, then lyrics come back in. I can't express how much I love this track. Kevin is a genius.
Lyrics All I give are little clues Maybe one day I'll get through There is nothing I can do I'll just keep on lying to you I only need to say its true Your poor little heart already knew But there is nothing you can do I'll just keep on lying to you Should my cover ever blow Would you ever let it go? There is something you should know But hell if I'd ever let it show So here I am, trying to be strong It was noon, now my shadow's long I guess I'll go and tell you just as soon as I Get to the end of this song To the end of this song, to the end of this song To the end of this song, to the end of this song The curse has won again Soon I'll be alone Take all you can But please understand It never really was love All I give are little clues Maybe one day I'll get through But there is nothing you can do I'll just keep on lying to you
This song is a perfect testament to feeling isolated from people. Not knowing how you can express yourself and and lying as a pathetic form of self-preservation. It's a simultaneously ugly and beautiful song, truly one of the best songs I've heard in the last 20 years and imo the best song on Lonerism. The power behind it makes me cry and makes my brain swirl with so many thoughts.
This has that 60s British cocktail lounge type vibe to it. Although, a good number of people are also tripping on LSD, while conducting a Fashion show.
Kevin- this whole album honestly saved my life nearly a decade ago. I overdosed on pills. Something about this album defines where I was at following that. It's hard to describe what i mean. but very few albums are on that level of influence in my life. these days it's all singles too, but this one felt impactful then and still takes me back to a lost year. made less sad with time, perspective, and your music.
There's the lyrics «I guess I'll go and tell you just as soon as I Get to the end of this song» but the song is just a loop since it starts over at the end and thus never ends, proving that he is indeed lying. Masterpiece.
I had a relationship like this, I didn't like the girl and I felt guilty, but unable to be honest. No other song could describe it like Keep on Lying does
Man I love how the vocals go on for a bit and then the rest of the song he just lets the instruments breathe. Especially that riff at the end. Freaking tops production.
Why is it every time I hear a T.I. song for the first time I'm like " ok I can vibe to this" but then by the 3rd or 4th time I actually listen to it I realize how mind blowingly magical it is. This it just amazing to me.
well everyone has their own opinion. But honestly i think that speaks to the quality of the album if every song is considered to be an underrated classic
@@steltzsm he was talking about how people said that every song in the album was individually the most underated song. And then you decided that this was the right place to state your opinion on which song was the most underated.
I've been listening to this *NONSTOP*. When I'm cycling, when I'm on my phone, when I'm on my pc, when I'm on my laptop, *EVERYWHERE, EVERYTIME*. Loops listened: 40~
Never get lost in the outside noise. Whenever you feel lost, come back to yourself, the most important voice, the one that matters in the end is yours.
Every time I saw her eyes I got lost in this transe like lover from a past life felt so homie and warm so seeing her again and then listening to this legend of an albumm
My favorite song from Tame Impala. Please, appreciate it. This is the type of song that only appears once in two decades. Hope someday it gets the love it deserves.
True. This song has grew on me these past years. It has been on my playlists since long ago. But there's something, something so unique about this song. The more I hear the more I like it. And the crazy thing is, Kevin has lots of songs that are really good and make me feel things. He is definitely one of the best artists of all time.
One of my favorite memories listening to this song while tripping and starting to get worried for a sec hearing all those voices, then that sick guitar riff comes in and brings everything back to normal.
another great song I just discovered on pandora. luv these guy much and hope to see I. concert one day. I'm 60 years old but their music makes me feel youthful again.
I've been listening to this song on loop for the last couple days. It's truly hypnotic. The second half reminds me of the dancing scenes in Last night in Soho for some reason.
Yes, THIS is the Tame Impala that i remember. Kevin, if you're reading these, just know :)) 1st and 2nd album is the essence I also like that this song can loop forever
This song is just pure brilliance it has so much going on from amazing vocals to phenomenal musicianship, I love the way the background fuzz of being in a club has been incorporated. It ticks so many boxes on so many levels
This songs reminds me days before quarantine. Walk to the metro station... School... Responsibilities... People... I used to listen a lot back then... Especially that part : 2:30
