Tamia is definitely a very much slept on artist that is INCREDIBLY talented. This song was her debut single at age 19 where she was handpicked by "tha one and only", Quincy Jones to appear on this album, "Q's Jook Joint" (which is also an amazing album itself) You should DEFINITELY check out more of her stuff. ...and the best thing about Tamia is that she sounds amazing live! This song is very old, but as you stated, it's a classic! This was a go-to Apollo song selection for a lot of people...and a lot of people were booed off the stage for attempting this one. Speaking of Tamia, her self titled first album has a track called "Loving You Still". That particular song you hear her range, raw vocal power, lots of transitions and good gawd't...just amazing vocals.

This extended version with the adlibs is extra smooth. Should also react to the official video. Her visual lip-sync performance with Quincy Jones' look of approval adds to the vocal performance. She was only 19 but was already a polished pro. It's funny that you mentioned that you got goosebumps because Quincy said that's part of his criteria for championing female singers and that's what her vocals does to him (the other criteria is "does their voice make him want to have sex with them?"). She's never hit a bad note on record or live. Her covers of others' music (Anita Baker, Michael Jackson's "Human Nature", etc.) are just as perfect. Patiently waiting on a gospel album.
