Probably worked this out now but the only knob u'd tweak for variations is density. Mode and genus are effectively the bank and pattern selectors, you wouldnt normally use them for variations in a pattern. The main modulation controls are CV/gate (one of the changes form Amoeba to fin in a small space) - evolve and mutate alter the pattern, reset resets the changes of evolve and mutate, chaos adjust the probability of triggers.
I’ve been patching the gate out of an a152 into the a-b input which seems to stop the pattern cycling. Then with the gate length low enough you can add fills by modulating the density control. Sending a few triggers to evolve before the end of the sequence can also add some variation, just have to give it a reset gate sometime afterwards. Been an interesting module to tame for sure, I’m still giving it time
