Your music and voice makes me feel alive again as never before

Your songs are holy. They get the very essence of life looking for god. That’s the point where i am right now, accepting the divine nature of me and of the world. I can see all the elements around me linking themselves together. I can now understand what music means to us, how it guides our souls. Some months ago, at a very confusing part of my life i used to be very obsessed with this song Crocodile. I could not tell why but i had the strong feeling, like it happens sometimes, that this word, this song, would make sense some day. It happened. Recently a very important friend of mine told me about a dream he has made when he was in psychoanalysis. He had a very bad dream of a crocodile eating a lady, something very disgusting. He realised that he had to face his fear, and he forced himself to look at the scene... the crocodile had stopped eating the lady because he was just an actor, he was never the villain of his mind, as soon as he focused on it instead of looking away, he has been able to see it. That it is all fake. That our fears are mostly just actors trying to take our freedom away, trying to enslave us, and make us believe that life is dangerous and meaningless, and that we are weak and mean. It’s all fake. The crocodile is an actor. He’s lying in still water, and he’s lying to us until our souls rise, asking for freedom, and nature, and beauty, and love. I won’t listen to the sound of their lies anymore, trying to diminish us. I’m not listening to the crocodile anymore.

this song breaks my heart, but not sure if it's for a good reason. I'm feeling a lot of nostalgia, yet I don't know what it is I'm missing out on.

I sure liked it at first, but grew more into the soothing melody and heard the lyrics more clearly with each time. Tamino's songs have a quality of emerging from deep within himself and through his singing it fuses into my soul, something at the very core of me as well. There is a quality of preseverence more than anything in your music that appeals to me as a healer and calms me down at my most happy and sad moments. Like it keeps me grounded and tied to myself. Gosh...i could go on and on. They sound like solitude vibrating through my body and intertwining with my soul. :)

I was just lamenting how this song is even more vague than usual, but when I read the lyrics again, I realized that might've been the point. I feel like it's about how his music is so open to interpretation that it can mean anything to people, as evidenced by "Everyone's got opinions 'bout it." He also mentions how it takes on different roles and functions for different people: "Maybe something to ease the pain / Maybe already in your veins." Another theme is that music is something out of his control, which is an ongoing sentiment he has mentioned in several interviews (that I binged two days after discovering him); in fact, he named his first album "Amir" (meaning prince) because he felt that music is something he was born into and doesn't have much of a choice in. Specifically in this song, I believe it can be seen in the following lines: "A thought quietly coming up / It's not sorry to interrupt" (the inspiration for music is personified) and "Songbird driving himself insane / Forgot why he even came this way" (the "songbird" aka the artist "shines" aka sings despite not knowing why). That's my interpretation at least, but tbh this isn't his greatest work lyrically speaking. In terms of techniques/harmony/sound though, haunting. Belongs in a movie's credits indeed.
