Thanks for the video. I know this is 2 years old and I haven’t watched the entire series yet. I have discovered that the stock damper stay slop can be removed using hex head ball connectors at all of the shock connecting points. The front lower shock mount can be easily fixed. What you do is use the extra spacer for the shock mounts on a tt02b. You will need to install ball connectors to free them up. Then you get a drill bit and spin it by hand to make the hole big enough on the spacer so that it fits over the brass bushing and it will take up all of the slop. Just did this on my dt03 and will also do it with my sand viper when back order is fulfilled ;)
Wonderful video again, Mikael. Now she is really coming together! The ball-cups on the steering rods are exactly the same as the ones that came for all the upper arm adjusters on my Sand Viper! How strange! I have found that they do wear out alarmingly fast though. But then, I do use my Viper quite a lot. Great series my friend. :))
Thanks a lot, Mark! Yeah, these are from the DT-02 MS. Strange you got them in the Viper still since they are not in the Viper manual. Yeah, I remember you chose some different in one of your latest builds, cuz they keep coming off. My DT problem is more with the stock c-hubs. They keep breaking.
@@NordicRC More strangeness! And I have had MANY crashes, some into the trees you see on our track, and have never broken a C-hub on any of my 3 DT02's. ?!?!?! : )
I guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
Bravo Mikael, another great video very well realized as you are used to do. It's funny, I also changed my brushless combo on my DT-02 today. I’m having a little problem with my body (a Sand Viper too) touching the esc which is too high and I was wondering if you weren’t going to have the same problem with your Carson esc which seems high to me too. I hope that it will be ok. That was zen and cool , merci mon ami !
Merci, Alex! Yeah, it’s a problem. There’s no great solutions though. 1) Flip the top/rear body mount and mount the body higher 2) cut holes in the body above the ESC 3) remove the fan from the ESC 4) use double-sided Velcro on the sides to set the body straight (which will mean the body rests on the ESC = potential heat issue) ... No great solutions for the small bodies like the Viper and Gator. Not sure which one I will pick when time comes 🙂
@@NordicRC Thanks for these 4 solutions, this afternoon i thought i'll make hole in the body to let the esc breath... but as you, i don't know yet what will be the best solution. Let the night give us some advice... Take care Mikael.
Maybe there are more solutions. I know I won’t be cutting my body before I have tried some of the other solutions. Will definitely flip the rear body mount and see how it looks with the body raised. Probably not too good but maybe better than with a hole 🙂 Have a good night’s sleep, Alex.
Just a quick or maybe not so quick request. Tell me(us) what you think of the Tamiya brand. It's probably been 30 years since I built and raced a Tamiya car, and it would get snarky comments when I put it on the track. It actually was a pretty good runner, but there were no parts OEM or aftermarket available back then. Would you recommend Tamiya to a friend now ? ?
Larry Dommer Hi Larry! Yes, I would recommend Tamiya, but I would also tell them to look around for other options. Even though Tamiya got both affordable entry level models like these buggies - and they got the expensive TRF brand for racers - and everything in between - I think you also pay for the ‘history’, ‘the brand’, ‘the looks’ and just the general atmosphere surrounding ‘Tamiya’. When it comes to certain models, like these in this series or the re-releases , one has to be interested in the brand. If it was only about durability and performance one maybe aught to look elsewhere.
That's going to be a fast buggy there bro 😎 So just the DT-03MS to build now nice. Then the paint work so are you going with box art or a custom Mikael special..lol Also are you going to do the rest of the Desert Gater build in this series? Well another great video in the series bro keep up the great work 😊👍
Too fast for her own good. Maybe if I mounted a Brick on the front tower she would do alright? Just gonna do some simple one-color paint jobs. Nothing fancy. Ahh, the Desert Gator XB is finished. I even mounted the blue pogo sticks just for you 😉😂 I actually got frightened when I tested them on the table top. I seriously thought she was gonna jump out of the window 😅 Forgotten how wild they are 🙂 Thanks a lot for following along. I will do a video with the Desert Gator on the other channel if you want me to 🙂
@@NordicRC The Sand Viper's going to be insane!! Weights would help stick the to the backside of the frt brace or by the servo.I know how you feel about looks thou.. Ok simple cool one color paint jobs work. You put the pogos back on it 😲 lol.. I bet it was boucy all over the place. I would love to see the rebuild video on it thou bro 😊 This has been a great series thou, looking forward to the rest of them!!
Hi Mikeal. Sorry, I but I haven't been able to watch your last few videos yet. I just wanted to tell you that I have emailed you my friend. I will watch the other videos this and leave an appropriate comment later 😊👍
Hi Derek. I haven’t had time to watch your two latest videos too, although I have been tempted by the thumbnails. Don’t worry about these long build videos. Skip them or skip around in them as time allows 🙂 Will check mail tonight 🙂
I had a problem with servo saver catching the front plate,so had to put the ball screws facing towards chassis seemed to work ...was your ok facing bumper?
I feel the exactly opposite way around. Decals is a cozy cut’n’stick job. A great time with lots of coffee sitting and relaxing in a chair. Painting is so ... hard for me to get started on. All the washing, the risk of moisture, dust, etc. Not enjoying it too much 🙂
Hi Brad. Not exactly sure. I do not own many soft packs. But will try out the ones I have and do a battery comparison of all the DT’s once they are finished.
But yes, it’s a small battery compartment, so a very relevant question. Much smaller than the one on the newer DT-03. With my DT-02’s I have cheated a little with straps and Velcro from time to time in the past.
No. I don’t “need to”. It’s my buggy 😉 And it could provide some cooling to the ESC just under the body. But I have planned some things for it in the end.
