Unboxing of my Tamiya Globe Liner. I go over some of the details and give my thoughts on this beautiful rare RTR truck. Link to facebook page. / westernsharpies.scalea...
Great looking rig dude, absolutely fantastic! I didn't even know they did RTR and whoever built it did a beautiful job on the build, box art perfect 😀 Seems a great way to start 2021, Happy New Year!
for a longer deck trailer, you can get aluminum angle stock at lowe's etc and a piece of flat stock (id have to measure the dimensions) and just by cutting behind the landing gear, you can stretch it out to a 53' er. use those bulk head pieces as extra bracing underneath and its sturdy. that piece of flat stock goes down the middle of the trailer and then you use the kit's deck wood on both sides and it fits.
Beautiful Masterworks truck! A guy somewhat local to me has a MW grand hauler for sale but I still have a kit in a box to put together lol! I do have a MW highlift. It's not pristine as the previous owner drove it lots. Has that same radio that I also do not trust but I my 6ch 2.4 radio wont work with it even though it works with my globe with the mfc... weird voodoo lol.
Good to know, ya they have to be programmed to the mfc. Hobby concepts sells them with thorough instructions. Programming and electrical not really my wheelhouse, but i'll figure it out. Ya those high lifts and awesome trucks too. I didn't want anything used or second hand because lots of guys butcher these truck. Thanks for the comment friend. Btw which transmitter is it that you have, the one that works with your mfc and globe liner?
I've never bought a RTR... Been in the Hobby since I was 17 - I'm now 57!! (Old Fart!) HOWEVER, if I had the chance - AND the money, I'd get THAT. I've got an unbuilt Globe Liner, waiting for 2 other Trucks to be finished. There's just something cool about that! 27MHz and NiCd!!!!! 😲 I'd keep them for collector's value... But you're right, I would definitely go 2.4 GHz.
I'm gonna get rid of the stock electronics here shortly. They're all brand new authentic Tamiya. Let me know if you're interested, probably won't be asking much. I'm sure theres some nostalgic collector out there that wants this stuff lol
@TheMUSICMAN197 You're only 5 years ahead of me.... SOME of us go overboard with these. Not me... I've "only" got 31 RCs. 😉 My 3 Semi Trucks have costed over $11,000! So far!!! You don't need to go that insane, if you don't want to. I look at it this way. Yes, it's expensive. More recently due to out of control inflation... prices WILL come back down. But it's also healthy! Us Old Farts aren't getting any younger. Building them from a kit, works your mind and hands. Taking them out to run them, is aerobic exercise. That can't be bad?
Excellent choice, I really like this model of truck, it is also the first time that I see it in rtr, good it is necessary to change the radio, because in 27mhz it is not good, it reminds me of when I was child 😄 Really he is magnificent, and you are right with the longer trailer it will be even better. Can't wait to see what you'll add to this super truck 😍
@@westernsharpie I have the Tamiya MAN TGX french blue edition with MFC03 fitted & the reefer trailer fitted with motorized support legs. I have also got the Tamiya scania silver edition r470 fitted with LESU V8 sound module & bluetooth lights fitted. @@westernsharpieNo my friend Peterbilt haves a single grill, freightliner is single grill and 4 headlights and western star haves 4 headlights. Do not look like those it is an international from the 80s sorry but that is what it is
@@carloshnunez Right, ya lots of guys change the grills and headlights on these trucks. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it. They turn them into Peterbilts, KW, Freighliner etc, but ya I know what you're saying, it's already set up for looking like an International.
It was around $1700, because this one was a rare, expert built rtr it was little more expensive. I'll have to look into that transmitter, I have ordered a flysky i6. They seem to be the ones everyone is using with these trucks because of the mfc unit.
@@douglasbabyy2318 Yes it's a good sized project, especially with all the electronics, lighting sound etc. You should be able to find one for sale on a facebook group page. They might not be brand new, but lots of people selling their trucks fully assembled, ready to go. Good luck
@@tomasdesiderio6234 Fully assembled you might need to order straight from Japan if you want it factory new. You can also get an experienced builder to build it for you from the kit.
I've seen some built and ready Rigs going for over $1000 US!! 😮 (OR $1800 Canadian - $27,400 Australian!!! 😳😂😆🤣) kidding. Experience the kit......
