Thank you. It’s a great old school back mounted motor buggy. 👍🏻

I love my TRF201. Got back into racing with it in 2020 and it can hold it's own against more modern buggies on dirt.

Yeah… it’s awesome. Not complicated compared to today’s 2wd buggy.

Rear motor layout is better for dirt

Great video, car is beautifully built. I noticed the gearbox, transmission components, and ball diff are similar to the BBX.
@t-studioworks
@t-studioworks 7 месяцев назад
They are similar down to even the layout of the battery. From reviews the BBX seems tougher but that could be expected coming 13 years after the TRF201.

The gears from the transmission have similarity to Traxxas 2wd line up, if I get my hand on this buggy is possible I will check the gears of the trany, great buggy and the style of build is similar to new one, the buggy still update

Yeah, this buggy design is 12 years old now. And this style of transmission has been around longer before the TRF201 was released. The new transmissions are lay down mid-motored instead of upright for better balance on indoor well prepared tracks. Google the later versions of TRF201XMW & TRF211XM for the mid-motor versions.

7:16 Do you threadlock the grub screws in your universal joints? I've had a few back out so I always try to do it. Great music and showing some great techniques, thanks for the excellent video!

Glad you enjoyed the video. I normally don’t threadlock my grub screws on the universal joints. I don’t run them too hard though. So it is probably a good idea to do it. Thanks again!

I have a TRF 201, it's awesome. You could have saved time by saying the TRF 201 is a typical B4 of the era except metric instead of imperial, rather than describe separate parts.
@t-studioworks
@t-studioworks 2 года назад
Not everyone is familiar with the AE though. Not everyone is familiar with the TRF201 either. The arms & hubs are interchangeable. I guess all the buggies from that era looked about the same. Same can be said about many of today's buggys...

B4 was 10 years ahead of the competition when it came out, no wonder Tamiya took inspiration. In some ways (materials for example) it’s even better.

I just had Tamiya email me back today saying this model is discontinued. The website however says temporarily out of stock. Did you buy this new?
@t-studioworks
@t-studioworks Год назад
Bad news, this was discontinued probably 8 years ago now. I’ve kept this in my collection since it’s release in 2010. For most TRF cars, Tamiya only does 1 to 2 production runs / batches. Once they sell out they are gone. Sometimes you can still find new in box on eBay etc but they are super expensive as it’s become a collectors item.

@@t-studioworks thanks for responding. Do you know if the zahhak is still sold? Thanks!
@t-studioworks
@t-studioworks Год назад
@@danielandrews7028 haven’t seen that around in awhile either. It’s model #58477. Model numbers starting with 58 are normal stock items. Tamiya will make production runs to replenish stock if there is demand. So not sure when the next production run will be either. Put a Want to Buy / WTB post in places like Tamiyaclub.com & see if you get any bites. :)
