Hi, I think the best way to improve the car is one change at a time. Changing to many things you won’t know what works and what doesn’t. A pinion and tyre change to start see where that gets you then play with diffs, remember one step at a time will get you where you want to be and you reduce your chance of tripping. Yes I watched to the end

This is by far my fav channel now. I just came back from running my stock old top force outside the house, love the way it drives. Turns on a dime. Perfect for a medium/small parking lot. Got a 13,5t stock motor setup on 2s. Just fast enough so I dont crash. Will be running the exact same setup in my evo when its finished=)

I run my TT02B on Carpet almost exclusively. (Dual Block K's, 3300kv Hobbywing MAX10) For me running the front toe out greatly improved the turn in. I also run 4 degrees camber front and back. It works fairly well for the track I run on.(Thunder Road RC, MN) You could always try the one way diff from the TT01 to help turn in. Love the content keep up the great work!

One of the many reasons I picked up a TT-02B. They take a licking and keep on ticking. Great video Glenn. I would definitely get at the front gearbox, it seems stickier than normal. I have the Tamiya AntiWear grease in mine and it's super smooth. I found that a decent 20-25KG fast servo made a big difference over a Futaba S148.

Glen, to answer your question on setup: racing is different from drift where you actually want a softer front than the rear. You could use less grease and see if it helps. It’s a cheaper tuning method of seeing how it affects your performance. As for your hop-ups, everything you shown is where you want to go with any TT-02. The Yeah Racing mount is miles better than the Tamiya version because you can run ANY tooth mesh like 48P or 64P whereas with the Tamiya, you’re stuck with 06 Module. You’ll still need to ensure both spur and pinion gears are the same pitch but the YR mount gives you much more options though you will have to ensure that you mesh the gears correctly with a piece of paper. The 68T spur is the same as the one supplied in the TT-02 High Speed Gear Set. Get a few while you can because they’re not the easiest to get hold of when they’re sold out. As for pinions for Tamiya, you can run a 29T pinion in it but 27T is what the TT-02 Type S comes with stock and with just that and the 68T pinion, it goes like stink! Last, I would recommend a radio like the FlySky Noble NB4 or Futaba 3PV because then you get to see your inputs and how they could be affecting your lap times. Plus, you want to mail that main jump and having a radio that allows you to see your inputs will aid in being more consistent. At least that’s what I tell myself now after buying a Noble NB4… Anyway Glen, looking forward to the next installment. I knew you couldn’t really hate the TT-02. EDIT: It should go without saying but take each improvement slowly and one at a time to see if you’re really making an improvement or not.

For me I like the front with thick fluid 1mil. Center slightly thinner around 3\4 mil. The rear more open 1\2 mil. I like my car to "pull" it's self. You will get several different answers to your question. Every driver likes something that suits their driving style. I watched till the end.
@superstock9261
@superstock9261 2 года назад
For any carpet track you need carpet tyres, 100%: -For a track like that you need thinner oil up front -less toe in on the rear -slightly higher rear ride height -stand the rear shocks up -try a rear sway bar if you have one Also take the front jump on an angle. At the 16:50 mark of the video you can see the line you should launch the buggy at so you got a straighter line into the first kink. Land the buggy nose first on the downwards face of the landing jump, use the brakes to bring the nose down

I am a couple of hours West of you in a tiny hamlet named Port Bruce. I love to watch your videos. You have such passion for your hobby. I picked up quite a bit of knowledge watching you and from the comments of your subscribers. Hey Glenn, before chucking a pile of money towards new radio gear, you might have another look at your servo specs. A narrow, tight, technical track like that requires a fast servo to keep up. I don't believe you need a mega-buck high-end Savox but you'll want to stay clear of the bargain servos - they can be very lazy especially when returning to center. Your servo might be fine but it could be worth a look. Regarding the motor, the car seems plenty fast - maybe adjust the ratio to provide a bit more punch. By the way, I think your approach to learning this track is absolutely spot on. Take it slow and build muscle memory before trying to set any lap records. I watch the whole video and enjoyed it immensely. If you can master the TT-02B on this track, you are going to FLY with a proper race buggy. 👍👍😊

As your tires are the only thing that touches the track, they are the number one, most important item of your set-up. For me number 2 is gearing. As you found out that track is a high-ratio track. The big jump needed smooth acceleration and maybe ½ to 2/3rd throttle at most. But this is were a sensored ESC is a must. Your driving needs practice. Practice is the number one Hop-Up. Nothing else will make your buggy handle better or lower your lap times faster. Have fun making your car right and making you right for the buggy.

Hey mate. I've actually spent a lot of time with my TT02B MS on track, and here is what I have found to work the best. Schumacher Mini Pin tyres. Yellow compound rear and silver front. Use the medium foams all around and stick to the wide 4wd fronts, not the narrow 2wd style. Run 6mm hex adapters front and 5mm rear. Increasing the front track is imperative to getting rid of the understeer. Make sure you get a steering assembly with ball bearings. Yes GPM usually makes crap parts, but their TT02 setup actually works really well. Also lose the servo saver. It is a big deal to get rid of the slop in the steering on a TT02B. Make sure you run toe out on the front. This really helps the car dart fast into the turn. Run a hard spring in the back. This will help the rear get a bit loose and rotate. Medium front springs. Keep the front diff open. You need this as you don't have a centre diff. Keeping it open will allow the outer wheel to rotate at ground speed thus retaining grip. You will lose a bit of straight line traction, but most will still be in the rear. Run a heavy rear diff lube. 50k at least. Use a shorty battery pack. Move it forward. This will balance the front a lot better, especially if your servo is light. When your diff gears start to strip, which WILL happen soon, get the GPM metal gears. Again, one of the very few thungs they offer actually worth a damn. Just be mindful that there might be some burrs to get rid of to fit them on to the shafts. Yes, they are GPM parts after all, but once you get them set properly, they are super smooth and your TT02B driveline is bulletproof. The TT02B is a much stronger runner than many give it credit for. Will itvrun with a 503? No of course not, but a well dialed TT02B will trash a stock Top Force Evo.

@@TAMIYALegends You're most welcome. If you go with a shorty battery, cut some blocks from PU foam to place in the tray either in the front or back of the pack. This way you can experiment with where the balance suits you the best. By the way, would you be able to recommend someone who could do a paint job on a TT02B MS shell? I want someone to do the TT02B MS box art in a cool airbrush version.

Great vid Glenn. Heavier diff lube at both ends to help prevent wheel-spin, fast brushless servo, lower gearing, tyres, radio...current setup is a good start...I raced indoor & outdoor, but not tight & technical like that...I'd probably break things after couple of laps. The TT02 stood up well, & still looks shmick! I think speed runs with the car wouldn't need much change to reach 70! Another great video...much appreciated.

I watched to the end , the funny thing I found out with my outdoor dirt track is that the bone stock TT-02b and DT02 seem to handle the track better than my hop up versions do . I think it has something to do with the weight and balance . With less power they seem to be much more controlled through the turns . Which actually proved to me that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun at a track .

I watched to the end. That TT-02B is motored for speed. If you go back to that track, put a 10.5 sensored and gear it between 8.5 to 9.5. It will feel like a different buggy. But first and foremost, have fun.

Watched to the end! Stick some carpet tyres on and a high speed servo and get out there again. Keep up the good work.

Only half way through but I could see that the driver was better than the car in that particular scenario. It looks really short wheelbase and the shocks sound solid . The car was also not squaring up after a bend so very hard to line up for a ramp like that I think it would be a good car skidding around on loose dirt but totally wrong for the track. I think anyone would have struggled to get it round The 201 should be a lot better. looking forward to seeing that go round. I can see he can drive but the car looked a nightmare . Can’t wait till he drives a well set up car . He will be keeping up with them.

Yeah the 201 was awesome but unfortunately it was under geared on the day but it was still my favourite on the day 🤩

I think you did great! I've never run any of my cars on a proper track...I think I'd fly out of every corner...🤣 Very interested in how this continues. I watched till the end! 😁

Glad you going to do a bit of speed running. TT02B is a great platform for it. You should get Stew Mac on as a guest to help beginners start out. Yes I watched to the end!

Cool Track, technical with many turns. I think a 13.5t motor, geared right. Would be more than enough & you’ll have longer run time. Bring your tool box next time, so you can change Tires & Gearing. 😎👍🏻

Yeah this was just a day of fun tbh, I’ve actually drove five cars within the day, so didn’t really get to grips with any of them. But next time will be different as I’ll only take one car to concentrate on 😅🚗💨💨💨

Great job Glenn I think you did really on a small technical track like that. My understanding of front diff is thinner oil would give more turn in and possibly help the car to rotate in the corner. Awesome video.

Fantastic video mate, your confidence on the inclined hairpin turn and the following jump was excellent, that final jump though looked a total pain in the arse.TT02B(Glen special)looked really good going round a track, it just shows u that u don't need top end cars to have good fun 👌👍

I watched to the end 😉 I really enjoy your channel and content 👍🏻. Don’t be so hard on yourself - the track experience was really interesting and showed a different side of RC driving that I’m not familiar with - my boys & I use our lunchboxes & pumpkin down the beach through the dunes. It was interesting to highlight a different skill set - beyond having a souped 4x4 RC car and giving it some beans! You got some great lines on the course - glad you got to land a couple on the big jump! Really good stuff 👍🏻🙂

I watched to the end. That looked like great fun and remember don't spent too much time comparing your driving to the locals, as I am sure your driving would be far better as well after a number of weekly or months practice on the same track for a few hours. I would also agree with just change your tires and gearing and try and get back to the same track for a second run, as I think ideally you want to be able to compare the difference making those 2 simple changes makes on the same track, and the jump that was challenging you. Then I think its just a case of getting some practice and replacing parts as you break them, rather than spending large amounts of money on faster responding servo's and radio. As I expect you would have more fun (the real aim of RC) and improve faster spending the money on getting to a track rather than RC gear you then don't have the budget to actually use.

Good job Glenn its not easy to drive on a tight track like that especially a new track to you! The buggy did well too! I have had my racing days and l will stick to beach running now haha little skill required!👍 My advice is take a Grasshopper next time with a 380 it would love that track lol😉

I watched until the end 😃 That track was quite small and very tight, but looked like a lot of fun. And the TT02B went round really well, I was so surprised that you didn't break anything! I would definitely get some decent carpet tyres, maybe try thinning the grease in the front diff, but as others have said change 1 thing then try it or you won't know what worked and what didn't. Awesome video as always, really looking forward to the next one👍👍
