Welcome everyone to Part 1 of the Tamiya Wild One Blockhead Motors Edition Video Buggy Build.
The Blockhead Motors edition Wild One is a fairly simple build, not having a large parts count or any really complicated steps. There are a couple tricks to make the build easier, which we show you in this video series.
In this video, we talk a little about the suggested tools you'll need as well as the electronics package we'll be using. We also dive into the build, assembling the front front suspension and shocks.
After one video it's already starting to look so very cool!
Enjoy the video.

Great start. Can not wait to build mine. This is the first time I have seen how the front end goes together.

You make it look so easy. I have built several Tamiya RC kits and have yet to complete one without sacrificing a part or two to the floor gods. Once a small screw or washer goes on the floor it disappears never to be seen again. Fortunately, Tamiya usually gives you a couple of spares, although I have a collection of parts from previous builds, I never throw away spare parts.

Oh, I've made up a few 4-letter words in my time building kits LOL What's helpful is that large mat I build on - it's from CowRC and it's magnetic! Really helps when building kits with small parts!

I may have to look into it. I am thinking seriously of building a Tamiya Sand Viper kit. I just recently finished a rere Hotshot kit, I actually enjoy building them more than running them. I guess I am just weird. Looking forward to part 2.

Good job. Althought I'm not in charge for this model, this video is very interesting for me. There are some aspect I didn't know before like these big decals on the chassis🤩

Very well produced build video. Waiting on mine as are many of us at the moment. In the UK the batch due for delivery was very short and most have to wait till April 2022.

interesting build! the horizon hobby now carries TAM58695A however since i preordered TAM58695, i may just get the one without the hobbywing esc. i asked them if they can send the one coming with the esc but if they do not, i guess i will just supply my own.
@Competitionx
@Competitionx 2 года назад
Every kit sold by a US distributor or hobby shop should come with the ESC. The 58695 was probably input into their system prior to the new A number, but none of the kits WITHOUT the A have been shipped to them. So, chances are you ordered the 58695 but you'll get the 58694A kit.

@@Competitionx i see. thank you for the detail info. i just hope they send it some time soon...i am off next week. it would have been real nice if i had this one arriving and building it. after watching your build video, i also finished tc01 and took it for test run and it was fantastic.

Nice! Thought that's what they might do. Good luck with your build!

Are the decals precut? Is it just a matter of sliding them off the backing paper? I saw another video where the builder had to cut out the decals and then peel away the backing. You seem to be peeling away the decals while they're still on the main backing sheet. Is this possible?
@Competitionx
@Competitionx 2 года назад
Actually, no. I didn't want to show my installing EVERY decal, so most of the cutting was done off screen. You still need to cut them out either with scissors or a hobby knife.
@capmidnite
@capmidnite 2 года назад
@@Competitionx2:59 appears to show a decal sheet where the decal was peeled off, leaving the sheet underneath intact. Wonder how you did that. But okay, thanks.
@Competitionx
@Competitionx 2 года назад
I use a hobby knife to trim the adhesive decal instead of cutting the entire paper. If you scroll back to about the 2:20 mark, you'll see the process I use to do this. A sharp hobby blade is recommended for the cleanest cut.

I have the regular wild what am I going to have to do that with my regular wild one that's going to be a problem cuz I'm terrible with decals?
@Competitionx

Use the soapy water trick - maybe applying decals a breeze!

Great presentation method, glad I found you. Rather disappointed something I did see though and that's nothing at all to do with you :) Those spot lights, they have a clear vac formed lens but you just look inside at the yellow plastic construction! Tamiya, come on. stay classy. I've the Wild One on order myself, not this one as I prefer the original. I'm looking forward to it arriving.
@RCJunky

There is a black decal to go inside the light... as stated he forgot
@Rob_NABS
@Rob_NABS 2 года назад
@@RCJunky No, that's the decal around the light exterior. I just checked the Tamiya page, nothing in the light there either. Empty yellow case, not even a reflective bucket. Sad. I'll get the 3d printer fired up :D
@Competitionx
@Competitionx 2 года назад
Thanks @needabiggershed. Was a fun build so far up to this part. Actually, you're both right, sort of. There are actually TWO decals for each light bucket - the black one around the outside and a 'lens-look' one that goes on the actual lens. I did forget the black one during the build but left the lens one off on purpose - I actually don't like the look of those when the lights are on (which we'll be installing at a later time). If you look on the Tamiya page, you can actually see the decal on the lens - ya gotta look closely!
@Rob_NABS
@Rob_NABS 2 года назад
@@Competitionx Well, I've just ordered another 3d printer. I've been busy making my own add-ons and pieces so it's time to start making aftermarket parts for enthusiasts too. Decent light buckets for the Wild One. On the list! :)
