More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and a vast majority of them are older than 75 years old. But there is a group in their 50s who will develop the disease as well. It's called early-onset Alzheimer’s. Bobby Marshall is a former high school teacher with Hillsborough County, but just seven years ago, he and his wife Sandy noticed something was off with his memory. “She said I really want you to go get a baseline, and we can do another in five or 10 years down the road but let's go get a baseline to make sure everything is ok,” explained Bobby. “We went and had a baseline, and sure enough, early-onset Alzheimer's.” FULL STORY: bit.ly/3BzRoYL

why do they make this so sad, they show a happy day of his students coming back to thank him and then they say "one day he will forget this"

Because this disease is sad...it's the long goodbye...especially at 55...i hope they find a cure soon.

I love how proactive they were. My mom was diagnosed a few months after my younger brother died of cardiac arrest. His death was to much for her. She was in her late 50s when she was diagnosed. I moved to a home that showed me to care for her and got my momma. She danced up until 3 months ago when she passed the day after Christmas at 66. It steals, it takes, is a mental bully on everyone evolved but I did it with honor. I miss her so so much. Death does something unexplainable to you. It was the 3 of us now there is me and He above.

I have one copy of the APOE4 gene. I found this out shortly after I turned 40 this year. I'm trying to be proactive.

As a newly diagnosed early onset dementia patient, I'm so happy to have found this video. I've searched for a support group and have only found ones for caregivers. I need input and advice from the people who are living with it and in the same stage as me. We all do.

I can completely understand. You aren’t alone in this, let me tell you, and you sure as heck won’t be the last person to have this issue… sadly. But all we can do it to try and enrich our moments we do still have, isn’t that right?

My husband has just this week been diagnosed. I know whats coming because l work as a volunteer with Alzheimer's patients. He thinks it can be mixed, so l am not telling him otherwise. Care and compassion.

The great increase in Alzheimer's is shocking. When I was a kid in the 50's and 60's, no one heard of it. I have to believe it is something in our environment and/or in our food/water/packaging. These "forever" chemicals they keep talking about may play a role, or any number of other things that we know to be toxic but are still used by industry. There isn't any in my family going back to the grandparents. But I see some alarming symptoms in someone I know who is showing incredible memory loss (short term). It seems to be getting worse, although he is still working. I hope I am wrong. He tries to play it off, but these are things no one would typically forget. If reminded, he acts like he sort of remembers, but I'm not sure he does.

I did a Genetic test with 23 and me and i discovered I have one copy of the APOE4 variant or the “Alzheimer’s gene” which more then doubles my risk of developing Alzheimer’s. My mom also has a copy, so that would mean that one of my grandparents would too, but they haven’t gotten tested. I’m only 20 years old but my mom’s 58 and my grandparents are 82 and 83 , the thought of my beloved grandparents or my mom losing there memories of me and there life is a horrific thought. Hopefully no one I love or myself will ever have to live that fate. Hopefully our science and technology and human spirit will prevail over this awful disease and every other horrible disease/fate the universe has to throw at us.
