Love my 200-600mm on my A7riiia. It's a fantastic lens! I live under the flight path of Luke Airforce base in Arizona and I use it to get some great pictures of F-35's and F-16's that fly over my house all day Monday through Friday.
I got the Tamron 150-500 yesterday, but I'm not sure whether I should exchange it for the Sony 200-600. I'd like to upgrade to a A7Riv or V this year. What is your opinion on these two lenses? How do they compare and which one do you prefer? Kind regards
Hi Markus, I have both of those lenses and I'd say that both have their uses. The Tamron is great and much smaller and lighter...paired with my a6600 I get 225-750mm of power in a small package. If you have to choose 1 and you are mainly after birds, go with the 200-600. If you also photograph lots of larger mammals, then the Tamron will serve you well.
Hi Don please i have a question and i really need your answer.. i have this lens Tamron 150-600 G2 with a canon 90D i dose'nt get sharp photos at all honestly i dont trust them yet but i saw u have a very sharp photos with it so please tell me what should i do
My copy of the 150-600mm lens was good but I had it on a professional body (Canon 5D IV). Still, the AF wasn't as fast as I wanted. I've now switched to Sony.
I have the Canon 6D (two of them) and bought an R7 for the high burst rate and AI auto focus in action shots. I have to say I'm disappointed at what is promised with the eye detection and subject tracking. My hit rate hasn't much improved with the Tamron G2 over the 6D's simple spot focus. When it hits it's amazing, but action shots I'm finding very frustrating to get, no matter what focus mode I use. Sometimes the camera just defocuses and looses everything for no reason, or picks out things in the scene you don't want just at the moment when the birds decide to take flight, so instead of the bird taking off, you get nice sharp leaves or telephone poles in front of or behind it. It's like it wants you to fail.
Hi, not sure if you are using the Tamron G2 on your Sony or still using it on your Canon 6D. Either way you'll find better results with a Tamron lens built for Sony or a Sony lens on a Sony camera. The Tamron 150-500mm built for Sony is excellent. The Tamron 150-600mm for Canon would be terrible on a Sony camera.
@@ArcanePath360 Yeah, my mistake but I'd bet that your problems lie in the EF mount (with adapter I'm assuming?). Lots of my photo tour clients have the R5, R6 or R7 with RF mount lenses and they nail it every time.
@@DonMammoserPhoto Interesting. My friend has the Canon EF100-400L ii and he has the same problems as me (Canon EF-RF adapter) and we are both disappointed in our purchase.
