Stunning video, very very nice :) ..I just ordered the 1.4x for my G2, am using a D810 and so hoping it will focus ok and not lose too much light :) opted for the 1.4x rather than 2x

Thanks. No cropping done in this video. The transitions are from FCPX. I utilized the 3x digital zoom feature of the Canon 80D to get the closeup shots. But you need a very sharp lens to maximize this feature as it will likely reveal lens softness produced by a low quality lens. The Tamron G2 is tact sharp even at 3x zoom and does not disappoint. :)

Did you add an extension tube for the butterfly and damsel fly segments at 1:10? I'm in the market and if those weren't way cropped in or without tubes, they're stunning!

No extension tubes were used. For extreme close-ups, I enabled the 3x digital video crop mode in camera feature which is available on both the Canon 70D and 80D models. Thanks :)

Vicente Alvarez, Get the 80d if you will be using it mainly for video. It has a 3x sensor crop feature in video mode. Go for the 7d mk2 for stills. It lacks the 3x crop mode but it shoots 10 fps faster than the 7fps on the 80d. It also has dual card slot. Hth.

Alberto, Thank you very much for answering me. My main question is about the final image quality and focus speed. Between 7 and 10 fps I do not find much problem. And yes, the 3x video seems very interesting. I hope I can get a video like yours someday.

Vicente Alvarez the image quality is the same. The 7d mk2 will focus a bit faster than the 80d since it has more focus points. But based on my experience, the 80d's focus tracking in live view mode is better than the 7d mk2 :)

Thanks. I have friends who are using the Nikon 200-500mm and their output is similarly sharp compared to the Tamron G2. But if you need more reach and robust image stabilization, go for the Tamron G2.

Albert Tamayo oh ya is this still get best bokeh or not if i use until 600 at f 6.3 because tamron i saw it more reach but 6.3 and Nikon just have fix f is 5.6 at 500 mm

I'm here in saudi now as an ofw, i have canon m50, i bought this lens last night.. 15% discount from the original price, I tried on my m50 with viltrox adapter and the result was stunning.. Im planning to buy canon 90d,just waiting to go on sale this month. I will pair it with this lens and base on my research, it will be a great combo also.. Nice video of yours.. Hello Albert. Love the beautiful quality of your footage. I have a Canon 5D Mark IV. I am looking for a long range telephoto lens to video wildlife. Will this lens work well with the 5D? Would I be able to shoot steady video handheld or would a tripod always be necessary? Thanks

Rupert Bedford wouldn't advise shooting video handheld at 600mm.. Better use a monopod...

Some of my friends are having focusing issues with the 5Dmk3. I'm not sure if there is a similar issue with the 5Dmk4 since as of this moment I have not tried it with that model yet. Better if you can get hold of a demo unit so that you can test it with your camera first before buying the lens.

cikubi oppai Tamron is the best in the market for wildlife. Sigma 150-600 is equally better and sharp.

I want to believe. But, a lot of people have problems with focusing issues with Tamron. So, I want a good warranty on it so that if it doesn't focus right I can send it back and get one that focuses right. Because in the world of 150 - 600 there are not that many options. But, I want to believe.
