Druce and I practicing and demonstrating some important skills in a fully expedition loaded SEDA Triumph.
Here's a video showing a capsize of a triple kayak with two paddlers but the rear guy falls out, the front guy continues with a successful roll; • Capsize with Two Roll ... .
As of this writing, we've taken 1st Place in the Everglades Challenge in 2011, 2013, and 2014. See our race reports here; www.kayaklakeme....

Well, this is old but hasn't aged at all! Inspiring.

Hi Jon, that's crossed our minds too. I added a video link in the description above showing just that scenario.

Have you considered using a smart track rudder. For the same turning force, they generate much less drag. And they are just well made all around. Another nice feature of the smart track rudders is you can easily switch between a tandem rudder and a single rudder. If the single rudder would be enough, you could probably cut your rudder drag to about 1/4 of what you have now.

Nice job rolling. Can you hand roll it or roll it with ping pong paddles. It fun to try without the paddle. You can let the paddle float on the side your rolling and then grab it if you fall back in. A facemask helps alot or at least noseclips. Thank you

We have not tried that yet. We will this year. Thanks.

Nice work but I would like to see how it works in some waves the size that would knock you over to start with. Some 3-4 foot chop

This video serves its purpose but, I couldn't agree with you more. It's not always easy getting the boat, the crew, the conditions and the camera all in the right place at the right time. I'll tell you what, the next time my son is in town, and it's super windy, we'll try and get out there with a GoPro. I've been wanting to do that anyway. Anyway, here is a real world example of putting these drills to work in realistic conditions. We were off the coast of Florida, in the Gulf, at night, in winds of over 40 mph, rollers were 6', we were running for a few hours with the wind on our right rear quarter and then for a couple of hours with the wind on our stern. We broached and braced in the rollers, over a sand bar with the breaking waves about 9' things got quite hectic and we braced and surfed and surfed and braced, finally when entering an ebbing river, where the river's current and the wind driven waves collide, in that 6 to 9 foot chop of burble, we finally did capsize. We failed our roll twice, then simply exited, righted the boat, got back in it and paddled on. This was all during a race in 2013. By the time we made safe haven, we were 25 miles ahead of the nearest kayak. If you're interested, you could read the full race report, the link is provided in the video description above.

Hello Egyptican, this is a SEDA Kayak 'Triumph'. We bought the first production model of this boat. Not sue they even have a photo of the boat yet on their website. I can share photos of our boat if you want. We feel this boat is a very good blend of speed, expedition capable, and sea worthiness. She's strong. Our boat in this video is all fiberglass layup, even stronger would be to have the hull made out of kevlar. I just added a link to the video description above, you can read our race reports of our experience in this boat.
