Tang Soo Do is said to have come from the ancient Korean arts of Taekyun and Soo Bahk, and be thousands of years old. In fact, it is much younger than that, having come from Okinawa, through Japan, to Korea and America, where it evolved into the art we know today.
While Grandmaster Hwang Kee is credited as the founder of Tang Soo Do, he is not. He is the founder of the Moo Duk Kwan, or "School of Martial Virtue" and played a large part in what we know today as Tang Soo Do, but he is not the founder.
