Bassai was the highest Tang Soo Do form I learned when I studied with Grandmaster Yi. My current dojang does not include Bassai as part of the curriculum, so any practice I get with this form is on my own. So I greatly appreciate videos like this.
@@martintanz9098 I trained under Grand Master Yi when he first came to America in 1974. I came back 16 yrs later training under Master CS Kim in Washington Township where I reached my 5th degree Black Belt. Today at 71 I still train at home two days per week.
its a stretch but do you think the initial lean may contain snippets of drunken style. I know TSD's has elements of Chinese martial arts already like that 1st strike is snakey as hell huh?
It has elements of both Leopard and Lion boxing (and the Chinese characters for 'leopard-lion' are pronounced 'ba-sai' in some dialects), and it also seems to resemble Five Element Fist Kung Fu, or Wuxing Quan. But in TSD, this is recognized as the snake form. Pyung An is the tortoise form, Naihanchi is the horse form, Sip Soo is the bear form, and so on.
