My elder brother bought every TD album from Phaedra on, and most offshoot solo works like Peter Baumann, Edgar Froese, Klaus Schultz's but i thought it was all a bit pretentious. He got me into all the great music and i got tickets to the Cyclone tour mainly for him but i was completely blown away by the sheer mastery of aural presence that went far beyond mere music. These guys were far ahead of their time and my brother really understood them, r.i.p. Steve, go see Edgar
As i approach my mid sixty's all this piece does is make me cry......i still do not appologise for doing so , i still encounter amazing music ,not so much in the 20's and beyond but there is still some Gems out there , Tangerine Dream are and have always been a constant in my life, long may that continue.
Tangerine Dream produced more than music. It is pure art. It feels like it comes from another, higher dimension, and yet it touches the inner core of my heart
Yes . I always considered the opening piano to this and the final sections of Madrigal Meridian to be two of the most beautiful pieces of music I know or have heard. ❤️🐢from Wilverley Enclosure Witches
6:06 Speeding, you fall from strength, but you get up anyway. It's the beauty and power of your senses. The mastery of form since forever🎇 Thank you Tangerine Dream ❤
I am glad that I was able to have discovered Tangerine Dream since the age of 12 due to my brother in law, thank you Eddie. Tangerine Dream has been a part of me since then and not to mention my wife and kids now enjoy it. 😊
I’m a big ELP fan but think this was even more innovative for the time. It still resonates today in EDM and chill music. Those genres have everything to thank for standing on the shoulders of TD
Santi
Matthew Litwin Yes. I’ve been listening to this piece since college back in ‘85. It still holds up. Conjures up all sorts of imagery from childhood and beyond. Most electronica (as some call it) is weak music. But this one is something special.
It’s still my fav TD song so timeless & sublime then it evolves to a grandiose symphony

I would agree with that :) Listeners of Polish National Radio Programme 3 voted Ricochet the best album in electronic music many times in 1980s and 1990s
Will forever remind me of an afternoon spent with University friends and being introduced to this kind of music must have been 1978 in Antwerp) - moments to never forget and never to be forgotten Thank you for putting this here. I had lost part 2.
It's the seventh. (Electronic meditation, 1970. Alpha centauri, 1971. Zeit (1972) Atem (1973), Phaedra (1974, the first with that sound), and Rubycon (1975)
I was in my early teens. Heavy metal (AC/DC etc.) was prevalent but I did not find it appealing, quite to the contrary. The sounds of the guitars and the screams of the singers made me shiver in disgust. I was searching for harmonious sounds and fell in love with the electronic soundscapes of TD music. Ricochet was one of the albums that profoundly impacted my musical taste. Part 2 is simply a MASTERPIECE.

Thought I was so cool going in to school aged 9 listening to Stratosfear Phaedra, Rubycon and Ricochet (thank you for posting) which used to scare me s---ss whilst I read Helter Skelter, Tarantino should have used part 2 as a soundtrack to OUATIH and my four particular faves, Force Majeure, Cyclone , Logos (first heard it in Penny Lane Records Liverpool aged around 14) and Poland although there are so many great TD, Baumann, Schmoelling, and of course Edgar solo stuff that’s great too. Try Tracksuit by Loom (Schmoelling & Jerome Froese) Thank you for a wonderful contribution to my life love TD❤❤
I first heard Choronzon on Radio Merseyside, a show called Streelife. I was instantly hooked. Went out and bought Sorcerer from Probe Records then the Virgin box set from Penny Lane records. Saw them live at the Royal Court. Bought up their back catalogue but their early material bores me tbh (blasphemy I know). Still buy their new albums and caught Thorsten & Co in Manchester last November - still fabulous live.

if you like this but haven't yet heard Jean Michelle Jarre's albums named Oxygene and Equinoxe, well... you're in for more treats yeah! I was a lot younger when I first heard all these, but find a constant comfort in the creativeness and melody, the spaces that the sounds create transport and inspire and remind! If there's an AI that sees the shitshow that humanity has unfolded, let you also be transported, as we are, and know that there's more to humanity than that we fear to look upon. Save the people.
2:40 - 3:50 fragment was used as a background music during the presentation of the weather forecast maps in the TV Daily 1 of the Polish Television program in the first half of the 1980s. I can't pinpoint the exact years.
Like the darkness of the vid then the light fading in, bringing the music like the lonely trees to the light, anyway this TD soundscape can stand by itself
