in this video im going through the entire linocut printmaking process, from the first sketchbook drawing, transferring and carving, to printing and finally signing and numbering the prints. thanks for watching!

tools and materials i use:
paperlike ipad screen protector paperlike.com/emil
liquitex gloss heavy gel and label release backing paper for the transfer
pfeil carving tools, all u-shaped
i print all my prints with cranfield safewash relief inks on japanese kozo paper.
the linoleum is made by forbo/best and i buy it by the meter from aartdevos.dk

i feel like the more i grow as an artist, the more engaged i can get in process videos like this. a year ago i might’ve gotten bored watching this but now i’m finding it very interesting watching what you’re doing and what choices you’re making ! very awesome video, man.

I'm halfway through and this is super relaxing, every cut, every shot and movement is so chill. Your workshop seems like a dream! I loved the macro shot used just for the camera too.

Beautiful work. I noticed you use cranfield inks, but I was wondering what paper you use. Looks like shoji or awagami paper but wanted to check? If you wanted to do a reduction print, would the paper hold up?

thank you! i use kozo paper ✌️ the reduction prints I've made have all been on this paper and i think it works well

just discovering the channel and really enjoying the work. im thinking about doing some linocut but just a little curious re: your process. can you explain to me what kind of paper you use to transfer the drawing onto the lino, it seems to have a removable film you [peel off, looks useful. could you let me know what brand this is? PS i thin k i;; end up buying a pruint at some point, love the work and the time and care you put into editing this all together. i make the odd video of my music on RU-vid and can appreciate the work and care you are clearly putting in here.

i dont know what its called, i found it in the trash a couple of years ago, with a broken light bulb. i simply added a led strip to it instead of trying to find a new bulb.

Thanks for sharing your process. How do you keep the ink fresh (not drying) while you print? I guess that, even if time lapsed, the process using the bone folder takes quite a bit of time. I am using water based inks and it is an issue to work fast enough to stop the ink drying...even while mixing it in between prints. Again, thanks for sharing your art process. As a newbie to linocut/print, I am learning lots.

i use cranfield safewash relief inks, they're oil-based and thus dries much slower. even though they're oil-based you can stil clean your inking surface, rollers etc with soap then water, or simply use wet wipes. i find water based inks dry too fast for my workflow.

cranfield makes several types of ink, go for the safewash ones, they're very easy to work with

Also, water based inks don't give the same depth and shine to your prints. They are very flat and gouache like. Bcs oil based inks dry so slowly you can manipulate them more and also leave your work place to the following day. I also work with Safewash+ it's extender, as it is sometimes too condensed for my needs. The extender stretches' the ink'
