Reminds me of Art Deco Designs. Use a piece of sandpaper or an emery board to clean your tortillions (stumps). To sharpen just your pencil "lead" use an architect's rotary lead pointer tool. Hope that helps 🙂

I am new to tangle but love it. I am adding watercolor pencils to some of my pieces, sometimes the back will turn it a little muddy. I have been adding the water with a pointed qtip. I will try just putting a little water on the color instead of spreading the water with the qtip. I got this design down with minor mistakes. Thank you.

beautiful I used a q tip dipped in coconut oil to activate my colored pencil. I have trouble with water getting away from me and sometimes my microns smear with water!

That’s great Deb! Use whatever materials you have on hand. Are you using Sakura microns? If so, they shouldn’t be smearing with water. The pens must be perfectly dry before adding water.

Yes, first of all it is important how you grip the pencil. Make sure that you tilt the pencil at an angle and grip it between your index finger and thumb. Keep this grip firm and don’t alter the angle of your pencil. Place your middle finger on the edge of the tile and this will guide you around the the circle. If you keep the angle of the pencil the same the whole time you should get a nice even border.

@@hl7508 if you struggle with this pencil grip, another way of getting an even border would be to tape two or three pencils together… depending on how wide you want to make your border. If using 3 pencils, make sure the middle one is higher and not in line with the other two pencils. Place the outside pencil on the edge of the tile. ( scrap paper underneath so you are not drawing on the table) this pencil will be the guide. The inside pencil will be drawing on your tile.
