It's funny because it's not in the original story but Tangled is the 3rd interpretation of Rapunzel I've seen where she uses a pan as a weapon!

One minor detail I love about this move is that during Mother Gothel’s song she mentions the Black Plague (1300s) and her dress fits with that time period, whereas Rapunzel wears a more 17-1800s-style dress. Which proves that she’d been using the flower for at least 500 years

Yeah, and the whole reason she knows of the flower in the first place is because she was 1 of 3 apprentices to an evil sorceress....the lore-expansion the series was pretty deep

Whenever Mother Gothel shows Rapunzel any affection, she's actually showing it to her hair. In contrast, when Eugene does the same, he pushes her hair away from her face.

The scene where Rapunzel finally remembers who she was is still amazing to me, cuz she remembered her kingdom's sun symbol even as a baby, and has been unconsciously painting its shape for years of her life. All it took was seeing the flag AND the royal mural for her to realize she was the lost princess

This is my favorite Disney movie. Although I've always liked how they shamed Gothel for "hoarding" the flower's healing properties when they themselves destroyed the hell out of it to heal one person lol

I think the implication is that Gothel's knowledge of witchcraft let her figure out how to use the flower indefinitely through the song/spell. If she had shared that knowledge then lots of people could have benefitted from it. The king had only heard that there was a magical flower with healing properties, so when they found it they used it in the way that made the most sense to them (ie brewing it into medicine) because they didn't know any other way to make it work. If Gothel hadn't kept it to herself she could have used it to heal the queen and then still used it for her own benefit.

Mother Gothel is my favorite Disney villain because of how realistic she is. She’s incredibly manipulative, creepy, and has an epic death scene. Her dynamic with Rapunzel makes the movie extremely deep imo. She’s a great representation of an emotionally abusive parent.

In the lantern scene, Rapunzel lifts a lantern from hitting the water. It has the Sun symbol that the King and Queen released, showing the connection to her and her parents. Also, in the story of Rapunzel, the Witch’s favorite flower is the Rampion. Another name for that is Rapunzel, hence her name.

Rapunzel was one of my favorite princesses. As a kid. Again Zachery Levy and Mandy Moore stole the show for me. It's so sad! 10:00 She doesn't think she's found, but she is terrifed of Rapunzel being found. My personal wish would be a reaction to the Tangled SERIES, which gets surprisingly immersive and high-stakes after midway through season one. Which is a very sharp climb angle for a TV show. But if you haven't watched Atlantis yet, that's also a definite add to hte list, especially after Treasure Planet. Anastasia and Titan AE too now that Disney bought up Fox. Would also love your thoughts and reactions for some comic-themed animated movies/shows beyond the Spiderverse ones.

Rapunzel has always been my favorite, especially after the show. I like that she doesn't always get saved, they save each other. She's independent but still has love in her life and accepts help from her friends. Plus Mandy Moore is an amazing singer.

I think why her tears works like her hair because Rapunzel has it in her DNA. Basically, the power of the flower was shown externally through her hair but internally, it's all over her body. This would also work for her mother who drank basically the whole flower for herself.

So.... in the original Rapunzel, Rapunzel is impregnated by the Prince (who actually is a prince) and her pregnancy is how the witch learns that Rapunzel has been sneaking the prince in... and so she cuts off all of Rapunzel's hair and casts her off into the desert (where she has twins). The prince is tricked by the witch, who uses the cut hair to convince him Rapunzel is still in the tower. She then hurls him into the brambles below and the thorns gouge out the prince's eyes. Blind and disheveled, the prince wonders off into the desert. Years pass before he hears Rapunzels's singing and he goes to her. She is so saddened by his miserable state that she weeps and her tears magically heal the prince's eyes. I'm glad they had that little nod by having her tears bring him back to life.

I loved seeing this reaction even though he made one before like I still loved this one I’ve seen this movie so many times that I have the songs and the dialogue memorized and I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out I was 8 years old and I cried when Flynn cut her hair and then died I was like this cannot be how it ends like the emotional rollercoaster that kid me went through
