Umm did you mean my life? Honestly. I have thos great friend. I love her so much and she's amazing. She's perfect. She gets the highest grades, she is headgirl, her family has a lot of money, she's optimistic, the whole deal. Then there's me and yes, I know, im very, very privileged and I shouldn't complain, but im tired of just being her 'average, introverted, wallflower' friend. I just wanna be seen as more than a sidekick, y'know?

Even if I love being always by my friends' side when they are feeling down, there are sometimes in which I want to be the protagonist of my own story and I also want to be more than the shy girl or the side character. I agree. Sometimes I get mad at Cass as a character for being so terrible to Raps but never mad at her wanting to shine. She's been overlooked all her life, and now even by and next to someone she really cares about. Once Raps took the moonstone, Cass didn't know what would become of herself so she took her chance. Then got super powerful with a demon in her head to amp up the anger. If I think about it, I might do a similar thing in that situation, even if it irrational overall

She never even wanted to be a lady in waiting, but she was forced into that job against her will instead of being given training to become a soldier and real protector.

True. She wanted to be for once the main character. She wanted to be recognized and to be honest I think she was kinda jealous of Rapunzel. Cassandra's story is sadder than Rapunzel's. Her own mum left her for Rapunzel, she grew up with a dream to become a guardian but noone never gave her any chance. Then she became Rapunzel's shadow meanwhile everyone loved Rapunzel and even her real mother. She lived in complaint and noone never gave her much attention when she was around Rapunzel and it makes sense for her to be angry. Cassandra deserved better...

You really can’t blame Cassandra for her “betrayal”. Throughout the series Rapunzel always talked about her Destiny as if Rapunzel was the only one with a Destiny. She of course cared about others but it was mostly about her (Rapunzel). As if she (Rapunzel) saw others as helpers. In “Crossing The Line” I think Cass was trying to explain this

@@linosforthcat3830 First off yes Cassandras story is very sad but to try to say it’s sadder than Rapunzel or to even try to compare it is really messed up because Cassandra knew what happened to her mom her mom was an asshole and she left her for another baby, rapunzel never knew what happened to her parents for 18 years also Rapunzel wasn’t kidnapped because she was this darling child or because she was a cute ass baby no she was kidnapped for her hair Gothal only care about her hair every chance Gothal got she would talk down on Rapunzel to make her more dependent on her, if Rapunzel was anything like Cassandra meaning if she wasn’t naïve and if she wasn’t so soft hearted she would’ve been left but no she was in the tower for 18 years never met another living soul never met her parents she doesn’t know how to socially interact with others she has a panic attack every time someone doesn’t like her and not everyone wants to be the main character like to be honest looking at all the crap Rapunzel had to go through during that show that’s a lot of pressure like you just start interacting with people in the kingdom and then everything falls apart and so now you have to get your powers back and deal with the whole magic thing which is bringing up old memories because she was having nightmares and stuff then her parents lose their memories. Everything was tied to her destiny she wasn’t just talking about as if it was the best thing that happened to her it was literally the worst thing that happened to her she just wanted to have a life of traveling and adventure and to be with her parents and one that she loves she did not want to get those powers back she didn’t wanna have to deal with magical rocks and shit and demons and what not also no one believed in Cassandra more than Rapunzel always supported Cassandra it’s not her fault that they were growing up in a time where girls were not supposed to be soldiers especially girls who are not of royal birth

I am actually in agreement with Cassandra. She might not be doing this for the right reasons, but she has told Rap many times how out-shined she feels, and still Rapunzel keeps pushing Cassandras development aside while she gets to shine. She might be going about it the wrong way, but she has the right idea. Rapunzel has to learn to let other people shine. Its obvious she doesn't do it intentionally, but she needs to be more aware of how her actions affect others.

Of course she is not a villain. Noone never gave to Cassandra a chance to prove what she is. A strong, confident girl with dreams ,whom story is really sad. Being the shadow of someone that actually your mum choose instead of you. Noone never give you any attention when you're around her. Tried to discuss it with someone but noone gives u much attention. It's just not fair for her. She actually didn't though of what she was doing when she took the moonstone, she wanted for once to be recognized. I understand her reasons...

@@paloma4444 Same. Now that I've gotten more time to think about it, I think she was likely trying to get the power necessary to strike down some greater evil that we haven't yet learned of. She wouldn't have told anyone else because she knew they'd never be ok with her putting herself in danger over some vision that nightmare house showed her, and they also wouldn't necessarily pick up on Cassandra's own internal struggle she's been dealing with for a while now. In this case, the problem with her actions would then become more selfish than malicious, which is way more in-line with her character.

She may rise up . . . But who's side will she be on when she does?

​@@sarahfarr7400 Hopefully Rapunzel's side, but it would depend on the situation most likely. She has a strong moral compass, so if Rapunzel goes to far/loses her way, it is likely that she will choose another side if she thinks it's the right one. So yes, the real question is which side she is on. Because she will pick one as she is not the type to stand by.

While I was watching the episode she made multiple hints throughout the episode that she thought she was doing it for Rapunzel.

Sara Kennedy Uh, of course she isn’t? Until the last few episodes-during which we don’t even know if she’s herself, in control of her actions, or in her right mind-she spends the first two seasons doing everything in her power to protect Rapunzel and her kingdom? She’s amazing.

yeah. Tbh I don't think it was particularly wrong of her to seize her chance for power. But then to use it to hurt others and be straight up terrible to Rapunzel for things out of her control (instead of more valid things Cass could be mad about) was wild. She's obviously not a bad person, but she's done bad things. But, tbh, many people in that situation would. A very interesting character indeed

@@houndandhandbag And Rapunzel blindly defended and sided with Adira over Cass just like that, as if Cass meant nothing to her at all. Not to mention being a lady in waiting was a job Cassandra never wanted in the first place.

People have responded so positively to it because you clearly put thought into it and it shows. Second, I totally agree with you! I really, really hope they won’t leave Cass unredeemed. I hope they treat her kindly. I’m going to be deeply disappointed if they redeem Varian but turn Cass into some awful villain. Redeem them both! Idk. A tough, no nonsense, warrior that works herself to the bone. Envious and gets one up by the protagonist every turn she takes. Of course this applies to her is the first movie, 1st & 2nd act to be precise. I hope this clarifies things. (I say envious because she never had the recognition to begin with.)

Nope. That's called writing a good and sympathetic antagonist. The writers of this show have an amazing capacity to create compelling characters, and Cassandra & Varian are two of they're best examples (for different reasons).

No she didn't. Cassandra was lied to, pushed to the side, and never allowed to shine. Then she was put with Rapunzel and she saw firsthand how everyone always loved her first no matter what Cassandra did. Then she learned the truth.

Totally. They build up this unspoken tension between them very well. It's hard bc they do care about each other a lot but both get consumed with their own troubles and it harms them. I do agree the show missed some chances to really dig in there though. Especially with how they made up imo. Still, it is a very interesting dynamic

I don't think they quite "Varianed" her. The two have very different storylines going on. I don't think we know enough about Cass' betrayal yet to truly know what motivates it or what it will turn into. But maybe Cass will get a villain song! Fingers crossed there

@@Catz1a While I agree with your thoughts, I don't think it's entirely necessary for her to get a villain song. This particular peice already perfectly encapsulates her character beautifully. It seems incredibly unlikely, given everything we know of character, that she'll have any kind of dark or hostile intentions toward the other protagonist. I mean, I can't even guess what she'd sing about. Maybe a reprise of this, but then that'd muddle the uplifting tone of the song.

@@DLxxx That's a good point! They did do that with Varian for Make You Proud but I don't want that here. Waiting in the Wings stands alone as a very good song and changing the meaning for a ruthless and powerful Cass wouldn't be quite right. I think part of the reason they made THIS her big character song is exactly what you said, it is the perfect song for Cass. That does put a little more faith in the fact that this is who she is in the story more so than what she is about to be lol
