Been using this one lately. I keep saying this with every other new budget chifi set in this price range. But the Wan'Er is IMO the best tuned one so far in this bracket. The only reason why I'm not picking up a second set is because I know a better one is going to come out in the coming months or even weeks. By then my opinion will change again. The chifi scene is moving so fast in ways I never imagined back when I started this hobby.
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
Like you, I got along with this tuning. I do think it will generally appeal to a wider group of people with that bass level. Just opens up more genres than the other leaner sets. But lots of great sets, just need to find the one that matches your preferences.

I've just received the Kiiboom Allure, although it's at $99, considerably more than the Wan'er, it's now my second favourite IEM I've heard, although the IEM's that I have heard are pretty limited to mostly well under $100.. But I've recently auditioned and reviewed the Performer 5, and that is my current number 1, granted I haven't heard anything else in that price range, but I put it as my favourite of what I have been able to get my hands on.. And honestly I don't think the Allure falls too far behind the Performer 5, at least for the resolution of a single driver Vs a hybrid as well tuned as the Performer 5..

I got this set in the mail as soon as your video went up haha, I really like this set. Much more than the zero. I was surprised by the tuning, it sounds wide like you said. Looking at the graph i was expecting not so much bass with a little treble for my liking but then I listened to it.. didnt sound like I thought it would at all. Very enjoyable
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
Funny, I thought it was surprising. In that price bracket, there isn't one best set, but the one that is closest to your preferences for your library. I get why people love Zero, but it doesn't match everyone's preferences and libraries that need a bit more mid bass. Glad it worked out

Exactly, its another set where there may be a couple nitpicks, but the tuning has a wide appeal. Sometimes that is more important than the $20usd set with the best details or other specific characteristic.

Fantastic IEM! It is more of a monitor than my HD650 with a tonality that is still very very good. Incredibly neutral without the "Sennheiser veil" on the hd650 or even moondrop quarks.

The wan’er is almost brilliantly tuned, it goes up to VERY expensive tuned IEMS *($1000+).* Although the technicalities is to be expected for its pride, you gotta admit: it’s truly a testament we’re in for budget Chi-Fi. And oh yeah, that box is stunning 🌺🌸
@PaulWasabii

That soundstage... is quality for budget IEM. 💎✨👌 I was listening to Baroque Guitar Classical Music. Then there's a Box-like percussive drum tap-tap tap-ing. Then Hello there Soundstage! It's good. The bass has nice clarity, detail & depth for a budget.

yep, Wan'er started out as a sleeper and then caught on as more people listened to it. It is noticeable if you listen to Wan'er vs some other sets with similar graphs like C3. Close, but Wan'er is more of an experience for me.

I just ordered the white Wan'er myself just yesterday, and I noticed the patterning on the face plates are a little different, but they both have the same gold logo.. They tips look pretty decent for stock tips, I've got the Kbear 07 tips too, I'd like to see how they compare..

The only issue I had with KB07 was if you push the shell in to your ear, the tip might block the vent. If it sounds weird, try different tips.

Lately I use NiceHCK RedAg, BlackCat, or BlackSoul. The first two were $12usd-ish during sales. I do like the RedAg though, sleeved 2 core and you can get it in QDC. Not everyone agrees but I like it.

Thanks for the review. I'm pretty new to IEMs so I don't really know how to differentiate the different cable connector types. I just bought these IEMs and I'm not sure what kind of cable to get for it. The pins on the cable look recessed so I thought it was QDC type but I want to be 100% sure. Can someone educate me on the different types of connectors for IEMs, and which type I should look at for the Wan'ers? Also, what is a good budget cable with mic that you would recommend?

This is way better than I thought they would be. I like these better than the Aria and T3 plus. Better than Salmotes Zero. It's got the technical abilities of Chu and probably a little warmer Aria. With a better control on its mids and treble. Probably not as technical as the Aria but the Aria is not as good to me in tuning.
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
Exactly, it is well done and more appealing than other sets. I think people are starting to talk about it again, but I thought it was a great set of tuning tidbits in a very affordable set.

I’m currently leaning towards the Salnotes Zero because a lot of people said the staging is way better on those. But looking at your Salnotes Zero review and this, it seems like you prefer the staging (and maybe imaging) in these. Which of these should I buy for listening to film scores (like Hans Zimmer, John Williams)?
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
Yeah, and the reason is the level at 2-5k. To be honest, it probably stages better at lower volume so if that is you, then Zero is fine. When the other half of impressions say Zero is a bit bright and lean, that is going to flatten the stage. That happens at higher volume. Also more noticeable on vocals so again, your film scores may be fine on Zero. Wan'er is more of a general purpose set with a bit more mid bass for weight and less 2-4k to allow higher volume.
@dennisthemenace4288
@dennisthemenace4288 Год назад
I am planning to buy two in this price range. Till now i have finalized salnotes. Could you suggest between these for the second one, waner, hbb x qkz, cra+. I am leaning more towards cra+.
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
So Salnotes is your leaner set, Wan'er has a bit more bass, then CRA+, then QKZxHBB. If you want to hear bass at both ends of the spectrum, then QKZxHBB. They are all fine sets, just preferences

Of all the $35 and below sets you've reviewed, which do you give the highest recommendation? The Tripowin Lea was highly rec'd to me for Rock/80s New Wave genres by an IEM enthusiast with 20+ yrs experience in audio review field, (described it as just a minute step down from the Starfield). Additionaly the Kiwi Ears Cadenza has received tremendously positive reviews, have you auditioned it? Thoughts...
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
Wan'er is up there simply because the signature appeals to a wide range of music and I will usually take a more relaxed set of one that might be more technical but long term fatiguing. My Cadenza has not arrived but I'd bet that is up there too. Tinhifi C2, ok but brighter. For more mid bass, one of the KZ models, CRA+ or EDA Balanced. Each sub $35usd set has a tradeoff but Wan'er was a nice middle-of-the-road tuning.

So Wan'er, EDA balanced or AS16 Pro? In terms of daily driver, all music types, long listening sessions and ease of drive.
@PaulWasabii
@PaulWasabii Год назад
AS16 Pro is tough as it is a large shell. It doesn't bother me, but I noticed some complaints. As a daily driver, I still prefer Wan'er's bass shelf to EDA balanced. My daily driver, long session sets tend to lean more relaxed like Wan'er but if you want just a bit more energy, that is EDA balanced.
