Lot of people don’t grow up with Opera and that’s because in the past it was only affordable for the rich people, but i’am glad that is changed now. But it’s hard when you don’t know if you like and you didn’t grow up with it to pick a song. My favorite opera song is from Puccini “Che gelida manina” from the opera La Bohème and than preformed by Luciano Pavarotti. But Mario Lanza made also more lighter songs but with an opera voice. For starters to listen to opera a good start. And it’s in English also. Easy listening. Watch for example his “ Be my love” so beautiful. Thanks for your great reaction again can’t wait for the next👍🏼

This was such a great season to watch and especially listen to... So diverse. The power of music and the ability to connect with it and one another! Tania is amazing and her register ....pffff!

We've been to two shows of Tania. Kross 2000 and from Bach to Beyoncé. She was magnificent!

I heard the Italian super star Laura Pausini also sing this song and i loved that version. This one 🙈🙉🙊 not so much. Also the Marco version is more emotional in Dutch . greets jacco from Holland

I really appreciate that you include the before and after talk in the video. It makes the performance much more special if you know the reason why the artists picked the song. I recently watched all full episodes of 2020. Getting to know all the participants and hearing their stories was so amazing. I wished the official channel would upload 2 versions: 1 with just the song and 1 with the before and after talk.

More (metal) opera vocalists at Beste Zangers please for the next seasons.....! I can mention at least 10 brilliant Dutch performers still having not invited till now. Reason; Hilversum TV and Radio Broadcasting ignore them all the time, such a shame ! Mentioning some names ? For instance Manda Ophuis, Marjan Welman, Dianne van Giersbergen, Charlotte Wessels, Zora Cock, Simone Simons, Sharon den Adel, ....... and a lot more.

I agree with your assessment. Sometimes, the things we mostly avoid, are those that take us somewhere else. And most of the time, those places, are the ones we have never been able to eradicate.

So true what you are saying about being afraid to feel. I see a lot of negative reactions after the show about that everybody was crying again or that sobbing show. But that is what music does to you. It makes you cry, it lifts you up, it comforts you. You're spot on.

When I was growing up my dad listened/watched alot of opera. I never liked it. But I noticed that when I was downstairs to grab something to drink or a snack sometimes I'd just get goosebumps cos of the music and tones. The voices. Even when you don't understand the lyrics the music and voices can totally hit you. Sometimes I took a bit more time to listen and gradually I really started to enjoy and appreciate it. It is great music and opera is not a song, it is story telling really. Truly amazing!
