I lived on Tanna early 1970's as a young wanderer from NZ. Life is what you are and feel about yourself where ever you live. Nirvana is on oneself.

I also appreciate the simplicity of their lives, but don't think that everything is all hunky-dory like Disneyland. Life is hard. They die of things that we can take care of with one visit to a doctor. There's also very little shelter from the elements, and biting insects!

I've had the privilege of living both kinds of life. I love living like a primitive out in the wilds, but when things get hard or life-threatening, I also appreciate our advanced civilization.

They lay them on the solid earth where we are clearly able to see how many hatch & how few make it back to the beaches they were born on to continue the cycle. Actually they have to hunt the pigs in the jungle / bush . Not easy to catch and very dangerous because they are wild pigs . After a while in isolation they calm down a little then we put them in with the domesticated pigs to relax them . A pig is worth the same as a women , with 2 pigs you can get a nice wife ! Before they used shells to pay for a wife now its pigs .

I also honk all aside this is a great conservation traditional effort by the elder, I. This way, the people of the land have no right to come and catch as many turtles as they want, nor the people of the sea to catch as many pigs, they have a set time in which this trade will occur, and in such away protects the way of life of each village.

I believe it’s just fair. The sea people go out to the sea and capture an animal that they just found in the sea. The land people have to feed-grow the pig, while the pig’s food also demands work, from planting to harvesting.
