I wouldnt say the absoutle best thing, but having somebody like tanner thats really good at driving added a huge dynamic to the show that would have been missing otherwise.
Thanks X-Games for giving us a FULL race on You Tube and not the snippet videos we've had of the previous rounds! Great drive from Foust, shame Timur Timerzyanov had technical issues in the final as it would have been interesting to see how they matched up in identical cars.
I suppose the Global means that drivers are from all over the world or etc... And it´s just pure rallycross. These guys are not professional rallycross drivers. Some of them are just normal guys like Lasek and Pastrana who enjoy the thrill and this fast-pace driving. And im a huge fan of the 90´s rallycross in Europe but we just can´t go back in time and bring the good old times back. Im just grateful that Rallycross is still driven all over the world still today. Great sport.
It would be more exciting to people who haven't seen this yet, if you didn't post the race result in THE TITLE of the VIDEO! So we can watch the action unfold IN the video.
Yeah im with on that Energy logo thing etc. But that´s where the money comes from. Withouth Red Bull we probably would not have seen the jump that Felix. It´s a major thing for the sport/racing industry. Speaking of gronholm type drivers i saw the preview list for next years GRC. More tracks and also 2-3 races in Europe. Also the big addition might Sebastien Loeb coming in. He does not drive the full season WRC next year. So im thinking he will drive in X-Games LA, Munich and Barcelona.
Yeah, I know that's where the money comes from and that's what keeps motorsport going so I suppose I shouldn't really complain. I'm ok with redbull as they saved the A1 ring circuit in Austria and they've been around for much longer than monster etc, I think it's the fact people wear monster merch and think they're a badass. And that's good to hear about the addition of races. I heard Loeb may be going to WTCC but GRC would probably be a more likely option, we'll just have to see what happens :)
Also I guess i'm just not a big fan of the modern trend of flat peaked caps, monster and rockstar energy logos plastered everywhere, and the majority drivers being "jack of all trades, master of none" type characters. They are great personalities, I'm a fan of Pastrana for his FMX and nitro circus exploits, but I'd rather they were specialist professionals which would guarantee a much more satisfying overall racing package. It needs more Gronholm types.
It's just more stadium orientated which I feel takes away something from the sport what with the artificial jumps etc. And I thought that might be why they named it Global but every other domestic racing series in the world is named after the nation it's based even though international competitors are obviously welcome. British Superbikes, Touring car championship, rally championship, German Touring Masters etc etc.
Is it just me that doesn't see the appeal in this? The racing is no where near as entertaining or interesting as other modern series, neither is it as entertaining or interesting as classic 80's European Rallycross. Also congratulations to the organisers who named this GLOBAL rallycross even though it's just a national series, way to further the stereotype that Americans don't have a clue about any other country other than themselves...
